This document explains how to disable Write access at the FTP Service level.

1.) Click "Start" -> "Programs" -> "Administrative Tools" -> "Internet Services Manager".

2.) Right click on your ftp site (you may have more than one), and choose "Properties".



3.) Click on the "Home Directory" tab. If the "Write" checkbox is filled, clear it and click on "OK". As you can see from below, the default FTP folder has been changed from its 'normal' path of c:\inetpub\ftproot, please make sure you do the same if you plan on using the supplied ftp service from within IIS.
