Windows 10 Official in-Place upgrade

Recommended Posts

Hello

Is this the official in-Place upgrade for windows 10 for the folks who just upgraded to SCCM12 R2 SP1?

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt426642%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

I cannot find any documentation on how to go about the in-place upgrade.

I run through the process on my systems and even though the OS is upgraded to windows 10. It's not a smooth process.

If you never logged in on the windows 7 prior to the upgrade. New users cannot login. Running sfc /scannow seems to fix the issue temporarly. Also windows update seems to create a lot folders on the root of C drive.

Does anyone have a link to point me to the right direction.

Thanks

Yes, I'd say that some of the official documentation. Although with ConfigMgr 2012 R2 SP1 the process is a bit more complicated since the task sequence engine including the new steps will first be released in the vNext version that's about to be released during Q4 this year.

Why are your users not logged on in the first place? Are you In-Place upgrading newly imaged system that has not been given to a user yet?

Yeah that is the official documentation, once you've upgraded your site, it's easy to do an in-place upgrade, you could follow Josh Heffners blog, he chucks in a video and everything :)

Or if you haven't upgraded try my automated way of deploying Windows 10 for an in-place upgrade without SP1 https://craigsccmnoob.wordpress.com/2015/09/24/windows-10-in-place-automated-upgrade/
