My issue is this, I have a number of users connecting to virtual PC's from site G, this is over a BT Etherlink! The response time from this site is 180ms, but for the most part RDP to the machines is fine and usable. Connecting to site D for the Virtual PC's that connect to a SQL database at Site F, either Via a Web application Server hosted from Site F, or from the the Virtual PC site D.

The two methods of connectivity to the application are different and the Fat client on the VM is the preferred method. The issue is that that a process that the process takes 3 minutes when connecting from site W, but up to 12 minutes when performing the same task from site G. Site G has a latency of 24ms to site D.

Does the number of transactions multiplied by the latency have an impact on SQL transactions over RDP? My assumption was that only IO was communicated to and from the remote site to the VM.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

The VM's don't have local mapped drives, links or printers.

I have taken Wireshark, can't make head nor tale of it!

You can see the integrated devices in the XP mode. You can add multiple USB devices in Windows XP mode, which facilitates the installation of a specific program from a pen drive or via Bluetooth device

I’m currently working on a project where we are converting from zenworks to SCCM2012. Most of the environment consist of Dell 780,760, and a few Latitude series laptops. Most of the Desktop models the majority 780's have had the SATA operation mode changed from the factory default of RAID on to ATA. I used VMware to build reference image and am now using an MDT integrated task sequence to deploy. I have installed the correct driver that corresponds with the SATA operation mode however once driver installation is complete I get caught in a blue screen loop. I have also tried loading the driver that corresponds with the default setting this only work if I change to SATA mode back RAID on however this requires me touching each machine. The task sequence is being advertised to the desktops and initiated within windows(not sure if that makes a difference.)

Please Help!! Has anyone seen this????

I've been trying to find the root cause of slowness of some computers (Win XP) that happened last week within my environment. I've been going through the event viewer and firewall logs of those particular computers (for a particular date and particular time range). I have not found anything on those computers yet but I was wondering if there is any other log files (any registry settings etc) that I should look for that could provide me any useful information about the slowness.

I'm currently deploying winXp image on Dell 790. For some reason after completing all the actions in my TSQ , after the machine reboots it is getting frozen as attached in the screen shot below. I have also attached the screen shot of the tasksequence.

I have the right mass storage driver tasksequence. Initially i had enable Raid controller but i got the same Frozen screen. SO i tried to disable that step in task sequence and i ran, but still i am having the same error.

Can you please help me?

Solution:

Insert the Windows XP CD, reboot computer with it in, choose option R for recovery console

then

copy d:\I386\Driver.cab c:\system32\ntoskrnl.exe /v

where d: is the drive letter of your cdrom drive

if using a Swedish OS (or non-english) try leaving the /v out

once copied, type Exit to exit

and remove the cd.

I've noticed one of our laptops that the change Network ID and join a domain options are greyed out.

I've tried resetting the TCP/IP protocol but it has made any difference.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a possible cause and solution?

I have to install Office 2003 with custom settings in a mst-file on Windows XP with SP3. To get this working fine I use a run command line task sequence running as local administrator. This works fine! However, the profile of the local Administrator is created in a subfolder like C:\Documents and Settings\{MachineName}\Administrator and not C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.

How can I prevent this behavior? I thought after sysprep and deploy the image the admin profile is moved to the right folder but it isn't. On the new machine the admin profile is still in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\{MachineName}\Administrator. {MachineName} is the name of the reference machine and not of the new machine. It's confusing me a little bit.

After searching the Internet I found an article which describes this method to move profiles:

* logon as user with administrative rights

* open regedit

* search this key: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\{SID}

* change the value of the REG_EXPAND_SZ ProfileImagePath from %SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\{MachineName}\Administrator to

%SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\Administrator

* logon as Administrator

* open cmd

* enter set and verify the profile path

Do you think it's OK to move the built-in Administrator profile with this method? Thanks!
