This is my first post in the forums. I am having some trouble installing Windows 7 over PXE boot.

Here is what I did.

I followed the procedure in this website http://etherboot.org/wiki/winpe and create a boot folder and put that in TFTP server. I configured my windows DHCP server by adding 066 and 067 to my TFTP Server IP and pxeboot.n12

But when I am booting up a client machine. I get this error in the below image. What am I doing wrong?

Note: I cannot use a CD to boot Windows PE. I have to boot Windows PE over PXE boot from network.

Note2: I cannot use Windows Deployment services also..

Sorry for this "I cannot use" list. I am trying to develop something out of it.

We have a windows server2003 SP1 i installed the RIS services successfully, but not able to install the windows via LAN.

what i want to do.

I have a image of windows xp i want to copy into the RIS server and want to install that windows XP image into the client end.

will you able to help me to sort out this problem.

I am running 2003 server with sp2. I have captured a 2003 server image captured through WDS, an answer file has been generated and system has been syspreped. When I try to push the image back to the same server I get the error message as described below,

The operating system image you selected does not contain the necessary drivers for your network adapter. Try selecting a different operating system image. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.

Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit.

maybe some1 of you still resides in these forums. Due to old circumstances i still need RIS for installation of our WINXP clients.

I ahve followed the process to add new drivers as usuall, so far ok, after installation all drivers have been added and the HW manager shows all green. However some services seem to be missing. Example the WMI service. There is only the WMI Drivers Extension is installed. also i am missing the COM+ services, though i dont know if they are really needed.

I am clueless regarding this - as i can not always reinstall those services. Maybe there is something i am doing wrong?

now i install a ris on a server 2003. after the installation i start the legacy mode to create a cd image from windows xp sp3 german.

so to this step i have not any problems. but what must i make when i use a second cd image (example) windows xp sp3 english!!!

Now i have make follow steps:

i go to my server in the ad, right klick the ris server and go to ris properties and insert a new image from a disk.

now after the image i start a client and boot over the network. but the problem is i cant not select the other images...

the system select automaticly the last image... and this is my english image.

Click on the 'Remote Install' tab, then 'Advanced Settings'.

In Advanced settings you can click on the drop down menu and select Custom and customize it to your fancy, then click apply and restart the RIS service. Please note this is for New Clients, so if you want it implemented on existing machines then you have to do two things,

delete their current computer name from AD then do a new RIS install on each one indivually.

Test it by RIS installing a new computer.

I was wondering what i will need in order to restore a ghost image file to many computers via network the same time.

I found that a Windows Server 2003 with RIS, active directory, DHCP and DNS would be fine, after searching in order

to make the pcs available to boot from LAN throught Windows Server 2003 machine.

But after that, i need to do the procedure with Ghost Boot wizard.

Has anyone done this before in order to help me please?

LSASS.EXE - System Error, security accounts manager initialization failed because of the following error: Directory Services cannot start. Error status 0xc00002e1.

 

Please click OK to shutdown this system and reboot into directory services restore mode, check the event log for more detailed information.

Pressing OK and booting into directory services restore mode (press F8 at boot time and select it) boots Windows 2003 into safe mode, but as soon as you login, it logs out again. Very useful indeed (not). I guess I forgot to logon using the directory restore mode password, either way Microsoft recommends the following as a fix > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258062

however, I found a much quicker and easier fix.

Simply power off, insert the original hdd and boot up Ghost. In ghost options make sure to select the following option

'-ID' copy entire disk including unpartitioned space' (image disk).

I selected that option and ghosted disc>disc again, this time when all was done I could boot no problem into Windows 2003 with my new bigger hdd, and I now had a new unpartitioned 40gb of free space, marvellous. I chose to format that as another primary partition and will proceed to free up space on the other 3 partitions by moving data to the new partition.
