	So, I have a piece of medical software that needs to be a specific Windows PC name (a serial number) in order to make purchased options within that software be activated. If you change the PC name to anything other than the serial number, the options cease to work. I'm not sure if this is a registry or API call, but it doesn't work if the Windows PC name changes to anything else but the serial number of the product.
</p>

<p>
	The issue is, my customer, a large hospital system, per their corporate IT naming convention, MUST change the name of the unit to match their AD setup.
</p>

<p>
	I'm trying to find a way to shim the PC name to the .exe or program file to "believe" the PC computer name is still the serial number, but the customer can change the REAL PC name to conform to their policies.
</p>

<p>
	I'm no expert in this at ALL, so I'd really need someone to 2nd grade explain this. I've tried the latest ADK download with the compatibility feature enabled, and some searches say to "fix" the software using GetComputerName or SetEnvironmentVars, but none of those seem to exist or work...
</p>

<p>
	If someone has a better program or method, I'm attempting to get in front of this medical device to test with soon, and would love to try any/all suggestions.
</p>

<p>
	Again, I don't write code, scripts, or dlls, so I'd need some hand holding on this if it can be done.
</p>

<p>
	Thank you!

	I have a laptop that has Disk 0 and Disk 1.   Disk 1 is my D drive.    Disk 0 is my issue.   It is setup like this:
</p>

<p>
	OS C;     990 MB healthy recovery partition.   1.4GB healthy recover partition.   My issue is I can't wipe out the Two recovery partitions.  I want one huge 3GB drive.  I don't need the recover partitions.    Using Disk Management I can't delete them or partition them.  Using Diskpart I can see the Volumes but both are Hidden and I can't Unhide them.    I've googled this and I've tried doing detail partition   and set id = 07 override and nothing works.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	how do I Unhide them so I can format them and use the space?

<p>Hi, I have heard the joke about SMS Slow Moving Software.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>And I don't know if it's true.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>But what I find annoying is the time it takes for the SCCM client to install on new machines.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>I've enabled system discovery, but it still takes time for the client to install on newly discovered machines.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>What I am scared of, is that theres a period where the PC is unmanaged and at risk.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The same goes for my Endpoint Protection. It installs when it likes.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>I would like to them to be installed as soon as possible. i.e the first time that machines logs onto the domain.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Is there a way to do this?</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Thanks</p>

				in the logs its almost like its trying https first on the other dp's then and then falling back to http; but i already have the local pxe dp set to accept http and allow clients to connect anonymous.

<p> </p>
<p>Yet the Russian task sequence has this log entry "Unable to find the Packages.xml file, assuming there are no packages to inject." and proceeds to create (what I assume is) an empty unattend.xml - as a result, it doesn't even try to install the language pack (because the unattend.xml file doesn't tell it to).</p>

<p>
	Hi,
</p>

<p>
	I'm in the process of deploying Windows 10 (x64 Enterprise Build 1809) at a customer site using Configuration Manager Current Branch (1806 + Hotfix). Office 365 Click-to-Run is a Tier 1 application that I am installing during deployment of the OS to the endpoint machine. In order to ensure the O365 C2R content is the latest "Semi-Annual Channel" version (client is bound by regulation to patch applications, so testing this with Office) I've setup the following:
</p>

<ul><li>
		"Content" for the Application in CM is JUST setup.exe plus XML files for the install.
	</li>
	<li>
		Two XML files for install for two different locations (one of which is on at a low-speed WAN site).
		<ul><li>
				Each XML refers to source content in an open share on the Distribution Point servers - one of which is at the low-speed WAN site.
			</li>
		</ul></li>
	<li>
		Two deployment types in the Application - one for each XML.
	</li>
	<li>
		Setup a Scheduled Task on the Distribution Point servers to update the share (not the Application content) on a regular basis
	</li>
</ul><p>
	So my plan was then to use a "Requirement" on the application using a custom Global Condition that determines the Active Directory site (created using PowerShell). The idea then being that during deployment, the application installs using the latest available SAC version and administrators don't need to worry about the Application content being updated. And of course, the XML file then tells it to grab the content from the local site, which is highly connected.
</p>

<p>
	Works wonderfully well in Software Center in my testing. BUT, doesn't seem to work in OSD Task Sequence <span class="ipsEmoji">☹️</span>. If I am reading error logs right, it seems as though the PowerShell in the Global Condition is not being allowed to run (even when I set Execution Policy to "Bypass" earlier in the Task Sequence. So, perhaps I am making things more complex than they should be. Simplest thing to do would be to create two separate applications using the same method (i.e. not just two deployment types) and use a Dynamic Variable in the Task Sequence that installs one or the other dependent upon gateway IP. However, throwing it out there for some thoughts on how I could do this using the multiple deployment methods on the single app.
</p>

	Thanks,
</p>
