	Hello,
</p>

<p>
	I am trying to set up SCCM 2007 SP2 in a lab environment to simulate the migration to something newer and supported. However, when the setup program tries to download the prerequisites off the internet, it stops and complains that some files cannot be found. I also tried to download the prerequisites before doing the actual setup by using the /download switch with no success.
</p>

<p>
	Thus, I was wondering if any of you have experienced the same issues - as I suspect that Microsoft has simply deleted the files from their servers once SCCM 2007 reached EOL - and have found a way to bypass the prerequisites download step and let the setup program continue. Alternatively, if any of you has saved the downloaded prerequisite files and could provide them to me, it would be great.
</p>

<p>
	Thanks for your attention.

	Hi everyone,<br />
	I was just wondering if anyone still has the prerequisites for SCCM 2007. I would love to get a copy of them, as I want to set up a lab for deploying Windows XP for testing. I have the ISO files for SCCM from my VLSC account; I just need the prerequisites.

<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;">A couple days ago I posted the following on myitforum with a total of zero replies. A friend then suggested I try here, so that's what I'm doing. </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;">We want to redeploy a couple hundred computers over the summer hollidays, and I've yesterday started doing so. I just can't figure out why SCCM does what it does (read: as slowly as it does). </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;">Our observations: </span></span></span></p>
<ul><li>If we redeploy a system and afterwards change its name, we have to reinstall the sccm client. If we do not, it seems to have simply lost the connection to the server and never tries to recover. We tried leaving it like that for a week.<br /></li></ul><p></p>
<p></p>
<ul><li>If we rename a system before redeploying, we have to wait for the discovery data cycle to complete.<span style="text-decoration:line-through;"> Despite this being scheduled to run once every hour, we still see roughly 11.5% systems not being shown by their new name in the sccm console after 16 hours. </span><br />Turns out power management puts computers in sleep mode after 10 minutes once working hours end. I made that test roughly 70-90 minutes before it would enter sleep, so those claimed 16 hours were really just 1-1½ hours.<br /></li></ul><p></p>
<p></p>
<ul><li>Forcing the discovery cycle to run works on 75% of the systems that haven't updated within 30 minutes or so of initiating.*<br /></li></ul><p></p>
<p></p>
<ul><li>When a system is renamed, the ad object that is discovered appearently isn't merged with the client object in the collection view, meaning everything's there twice. AD object isn't approved however. After some hours the ad object is removed from the listing. Exact amount of time unknown, but less than 20 hours.<br /></li></ul><p></p>
<p></p>
<ul><li>When a system is redeployed, the collection view lists both the new and old client object data. It has marked the correct ones as obsolete.<br /></li></ul><p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;">* I've seen one machine that the sccm console still listed with the old name still get the new one after redeployment. Not sure if it had sent discovery data just before rebooting or if sccm just takes time to clean up the database. </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>Now what I want to know is what makes the name change process take so tortourously long to take effect. Even when forced it seems to take an eternity in terms of working hours. </strong></span></span></span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>We don't know what steps to take to reduce the delay between a change happening and the system center knowing it's happened. </strong></span></span></span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Discovery cycles:</span></span></span></span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;">Heartbeat every hour. </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;">AD user discovery every 30 minutes. </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;">AD system discovery every 5 minutes. (might be a mistake, will check with a collegue later) </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;">AD system group discovery every 5 minutes. (same as above) </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;">AD security group discovery not anabled. </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;">Network discovery not enabled. </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p>

<p>
	Hello,
</p>

<p>
	I inherited an SCCM 2007 environment and our base Win 7 image is woefully behind on updates (179 updates install post TS OSD).  I am trying to rectify this so that they can be installed during the OSD, or, preferably, in the actual WIM file.
</p>

<p>
	The issue that I am having is finding the best way to update the WIM file to include the updates.  As we only allow updates through WSUS, how can I update the WIM to include those updates?
</p>

<p>
	Looking through the Build and Capture TS's, it looks like my predecessor attempted it, but I am unsure whether he ever got it to work.
</p>

<p>
	Is there a way to do this through a B&amp;C TS?  Is there a way to do this with DISM commands?
</p>

<p>
	Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I see that there are a great deal of client side log files associated with SCCM 2007, and i am wondering which is the best log file to check in order to determine the reason why an installation has failed.

<p>
	Further to that, any general pieces of insight/resources etc. for troubleshooting client side issues as they relate to sccm?

	Hello-
</p>

<p>
	We have a site with 270 machines and we use SCCM 2007 without a problem. SCCM client is deployed within our syspreped image. Sometimes after imaging a machine, the computers show up as "unknown" they have the right mac address and guid etc, but no site code. We can not remote to these machines etc either. When you look at the machine itself, you can see in control panel that the client is installed however, there is no site code. I have tried "deleting" the unknown computer and importing it again using the MAC and GUID but it does not get the side code either. How can I manually install the client on the computer and have it be managed from the SCCM console.
</p>

<p>
	Hi all - Hoping for some advice and assistance -
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Recently, I have had a number of computers that fail to run any task sequence sent to them. As far as SCCM seems to be concerned, they are still in the middle of the OSD task sequence and just sits there, never updating its records. You can restart the client, reinstall the client, remove all reference to any other sequences on the target machine, but SCCM sits there and insists the PC/Laptop is still in the initial OSD sequence. The point at which they claim to be stuck is different from machine to machine, and there's no indication in the logs that I can find to suggest where to begin my investigation into what has happened.
</p>

<p>
	Has anyone seen anything similar before! Help!
</p>

<p>
	For ref - We are in the middle of a migration to SCCM CB, but the boundries of the new setup do not overlap with the boundary where we're seeing this issue. If I move the afflicted machines within the new server's area of influence, everything works correctly. I know that the easiest solution would be 'Get it all over to the new!' but where I work, they force the most drawn out migrations... just in case there's a possible issue...
