Hello all, I hope everyone's new year is going well for them.

In our environment we have one parent domain and two child domains. For example we have test.com, alpha.test.com and beta.test.com. We have separate defined prefixes for each domain and we have separate task sequences for each domain. I am trying to combine the task sequences into one. We have OSDCOMPUTERNAME set as a task sequence variable on the unknown computer collection so we have to name the computer at the start of the task sequence. For example a group called Join Test Domain, Join Alpha Domain, and Join Beta domain. Under each of the groups is the appropriate Apply Network Settings to get it to join the selected domain. I have tried using both WMI query and task sequence variables to filter the computers to the correct domain based off their prefix or their name. For the WMI query I have used "Select * from Win32_ComputerSystem where Name like "A%" and for task sequence variable I have used OSDCOMPUTERNAME Like "A*", neither of these two methods have worked because even thou we named the computer at the start of the TS the computer names are still showing in the log as MININT-XXXX. Any suggestions on how I would need to call on the OSDCOMPUTERNAME that we used at the beginning of TS? At the start of the TS I have tried to set the task sequence variable to OSDCOMPUTERNAME just like we have on the the Unknown computer collection but it is not prompting me to enter a computer name.

I am grateful for any any help or advise, thanks.

	Hello,

I am trying to push a task sequence to one of our labs of 30 machines. I have created a device collection and added the devices to the collection. I then created a task sequence which i know it works if i pxeboot from a machine. and i set it to required outside the maintenance window and I said to systems with the configuration manger client which is installed on the machines.

For some reason it is not pushing. I am trying to find out what logs to look at to see if i can find out why it is not working. I assume the log files should be on the server side as there hasn't been anything happening on the client side.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

SCCM OSD hangs stalls at client install - Surface Pro 7 - waiting for ccmexec service.

	Hi all,

Has anyone had any success imaging Surface Pro 7 devices with SCCM? I've imaged Surface Pro 3 & 4 in the past but I'm having a strange issue with the Pro 7's ☹️ As I understand it, Surface Pro X's can't be imaged using SCCM, I'm beginning to wonder if this Surface Pro 7's are the same....

We're running Config Manager 2006 (Hotfix Rollup KB4578605) and trying to image with Windows 10 1909. I've extracted the Surface Pro 7 drivers MSI and created a standard driver package. It's PXE boots just fine using the Microsoft Surface Pro Ethernet Adapter and the TS progresses and just hangs right at the end of the client install. The client.msi.log shows the client installed successfully. The smsts.log shows that it seems to have issues starting the ccmexec service.

I've been looking into this and seen people have had issues before or after this step with Surface Pro and suggest adding a wait or a reboot before or after the step. I've tried doing this before the Setup Windows and Config Manager step but can't do it after because it always hangs before then.

At the point where it hangs, I've pressed F8 to launch a command prompt and tried stopping the print spooler service (taskkill /IM spoolsv.exe /f) as others have suggested but still no dice.

I've googled the error - Failed to create instance for IMTCTokenHandler interface, hr=0x80080005 but this doesn't seem like a common error and hasn't offered any leads.

	Hi,

I'm having trouble with the surface dock.

I added the Surface dock ethernet driver to the boot image but can't get up to the WinPE screen to enter the password, it just reboots at preparing network connections.

Pressed F8 and checked there is no network card installed.

Usiing the same driver that is in windows.smsts.log

Originally added this driver a month or so ago for the older Surface pro's which worked good for them. WeSMSPXE.log have some new Surface pro 7's with I am guessing a new dock and now we have this problem.

We had an older version of ADT which I have updated to 1809 today. I thought it might have better support for the dock.smsts.log

I have one log from last week which should be ok we basically have the same issue no matter what I try.

Added the smspxe.log as well in case its useful.

Let me know if you have any ideas. :)

	Regards,

I have a task sequence that runs in Windows that is used to upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10. The task sequence ran fine until I install Configuration Manager 1910, now it stalls with the status "Waiting to install". Since it is before the task sequence can actually run, I can't check smsts.log for issues. What other log file should I look at? Has anyone experienced the same thing?

Not sure if i have posted this in the correct place, i need some urgent help! has anyone had any issues with drivers on HP Elitebook 840 G6 my company has ordered 100+ of them and we have 45 new starters on Monday lol no other models in stock and i havent had much time to test.

	SCCM 1902

	Windows 10 Pro 1809

	1. I have tried using HP Driver Pack downloaded from hp.ftp.com imported into SCCM and using Driver packages to install - no audio device is installed and warning against Intel Smart Sound Technology OED

	2. I have used HP SDM and HP SSM and downloaded/installed the Softpaqs after the OS installation - Same issue

	3. created a normal package and used DISM to inject drivers into OS - Same Issue

	4. captured out of the box device (persisted driver installation) and then deployed wim to same model- same issue

I've got a weird issue. I use an OSD task sequence in Config Manger to install Windows 10 on new computers. Up until recently, it was working perfectly. Now when I deploy a new computers, if I look under Assets and Clients > Devices, I can find the computer but it shows Client as No. If I search for the GUID that the Configuration Manager client uses, it shows the name as "unknown". How do I get these to sync up?

I've set up a task sequence to run an in-place upgrade to Windows 10 and it's run successfully on nearly 100 machines. One machine has just encountered an error I can't decipher. According to smsts.log, it completed the first part of the upgrade on Friday evening (today is the following Monday) and then rebooted but the next entry isn't until this morning, which is strange. I'm not sure if the machine crashed but it appears not. When the user logged on this morning, Windows 10 was in a funny state with no start button and no network connectivity. Rebooting the laptop initiated a rollback and the PC is back working correctly on Windows 7.

When the log continues, there appears to be an "access denied" error when trying to load the TS environment:

I am trying to pre stage the 1709 upgrade package to improve our users experience.

I have a TS that runs silently that runs one 'Download Package Content' step and puts the 1709 upgrade media into ccmcache, i am also setting a variable as 'UpgradeContent'

But my 2nd TS that is the upgrade task sequence, always downloads the entire Upgrade Package again, how do I make this TS aware that I already have the upgrade package downloaded in the Cache?

I'm trying to create a new .wim capture of an updated Windows 10 1709 (Hyper-V VM). I created capture media w/ SCCM, ran it on NewBuild18v2 (my VM), it reboots, say username and password are wrong and shows defaultuser0 as option - can’t log into it. Administrator is listed, takes password and then gets stuck at “Just a Moment”. was able to get a cmd window w/ F12 and entered this via regedit - [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OOBE]
"SkipMachineOOBE"=dword:00000001 Thanks to Frank Maxwitat from TechNet. It was able to restart and login but left me w/ a broken machine - start button wouldn't work, right click on task bar won't work, run works but I'm still stuck.

I took the .wim it saved to my share and placed it in my TS and get an error (0x80070400) element not found. I don't know if it's a bad unattended file, but I've included it and the STSMS log for those who read them better than I.

Main question - is there a way to salvage the VM and do another sysprep and capture, or do I need to start over?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I autoname my computers based on whether it is a notebook or desktop. Currently, I use a WMI query to differentiate the computers. The query is "Select * from Win32 Battery where Battery status is > 0". This query works for everything but Surface Pro's. It thinks they are desktops. Is there a query of some sort to differentiate Surface Pro's from desktops?
