  1. I am trying to figure out how to update remote Windows 10 users who VPN in to feature update (1809).

For users located on the LAN I have a task sequence that runs and does the update but for users connecting in with the VPN over a WAN the amount of data that is required to do the update would take too long when connecting by way of VPN.

Has anyone figured out the best way to solve this?

  2. I am going to be imaging multiple hard drives off of one PC. We use SCCM 2012 and there is the issue of duplicate MAC addresses in SCCM once I image one drive. SCCM will see the MAC address of the PC and won't let me create another one off the same PC. There is a way to enter a MAC address in the registry on the SCCM server that will exclude it from being entered into the SCCM database. The MAC entered in the registry would be the dongle MAC. This article explians it better: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/system_center_configuration_manager_operating_system_deployment_support_blog/2015/08/27/reusing-the-same-nic-for-multiple-pxe-initiated-deployments-in-system-center-configuration-manger-osd/

  3. SCCM Version 1702. Trying to set the schedule on a DP to restrict when data can be sent. I can set the availability for certain days of the week so they allow only high priority but once I apply and click OK and open the DP to look at the settings the changes I made are gone.

Anyone have any ideas as to where I should look at solving this?

  4. Hello,

I have SCCM 2012 and have created a Software Update group to deploy Windows 10 updates. The group is created but in the Downloaded column shows No for all but two updates. It has synced with our WSUS server and the wsyncmgr.log file shows things such as Skipped Update for Windows 10....KB number because it is up to date. How do I get the updates to show downloaded?

  5. I have a Microsoft Surface Book and a Surface. Both of course have SSD drives. I also have a HP Laptop that has a SSD drive in it and both laptops and desktops that have mechanical drives in them.

I am imaging them with SCCM 2012.

When I install the image everything works OK with the exception of the Surface Book and the Surface.

On those everything is fine but the System Protection (system restore) is set to off where on all the other ones I image as described above have it turned on.

I have an answer file that has it set to be on.

Any ideas as to why it is off on the MS surfaces?

  6. Has anyone had experience using MDT 2013 to image an EliteBook 840 G3 with the solid state drive with NVM Express?

I am trying to install Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit using MDT 2013.

I can drop the image but when it boots back up after Windows is installed the Windows flag starts to appear and then it freezes.

I have integrated these into the custom WIM file. KB2990940 and KB3087873 and also the USB 3.0 driver according to the HP document C05040446.

Any suggestions that I can try?

  7. Hello,

I am trying to image an HP EliteDesk 705 G2 using MDT 2013 ver 6.3.8330.1000.

I am using a task sequence that defines what drivers are downloaded based on make and model.

    Installing Windows 7.

It works for every model we image with the exception of the 705 G2. It does not download the drivers as I can see it does with all the other models.

Has anyone else had this problem with this model?

  8. Hello,

I am upgrading Windows 7 that has Office 2010 installed to Windows 10 and trying to upgrade to Office 2016 in the process.

I am using MDT 2013 Update 1 with the standard upgrade task sequence. Windows updates just fine but Office 2016 never gets installed and Office 2010 is still installed after the upgrade completes. I don't see anything in any of the log files pertaining to the Office task.

Office 2016 gets installed while doing a clean bare metal install of Windows 10.

  9. Hello,

I am deploying Windows 10 to a new PC with MDT 2013 Update 1.

I have customized the Start Menu to only show the apps I want instead of the default ones and using powershell exported the menu settings as an XML file. In the task sequence for the deployment I have a powershell script running to import the xml file and set the start menu to the way I want. Everything works as long as I have the copy profile set to false in the answer file. If I set it to true the start menu is not as the xml file sets it. Any ideas as to what I need to do to get it working with the copy profile set to true?

  10. Hello,

I am deploying WIndows 7 with SCCM 2007 and as part of the task sequence installing a language pack offline. Everything works correctly but the copy profile is not working even though I have it set to True in my unattended file. Using the same unattended file without adding the language pack works correctly and the copy profile works.

Any ideas as to why this is not working?

  11. Hello,

I have two partitions that get set up in my task sequence of SCCM 2007 with MDTSP1 to deploy Windows 7 along with a language pack.

I get the following error that looks like it is a problem installing the language pack caused by having two partitions. The language pack install fails.

    I have attached the ZTIPatches.log.

    Thanks for any help.

  12. Hello,

I am having an issue with a package(wim file) on a distribution point. Originally I had deleted the package but it hung and although it does not show the distribution point anymore the files are still on the distribution point. I then created a new dist point and now the package is in a loop telling me it can't read the source files. The thing I don't undrstand is that I created a dist point on another server with no problem. Here is a copy of the distmgr.log file.

  13. Hello,

I am having a hard time getting the vendor drivers to be used with Windows 7 Enterprise OS deployment. I have the Apply Drivers set up to use drivers based on the WMi condition. Some correct drivers get installed and some do not. I have gone through this several times creating new driver packages and making sure I am using the correct drivers. I have even checked the inf files for the correct hardware id's. Where should I be looking to get clues as to what is going on? I have attached a picture of my task sequence.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  14. Hello,

I am sending a driver package for one model of computer to a distribution point. The drivers are in separate folders in the source directory but when I choose the distribution point to send the driver package to it copies all drivers to the distribution point not just the drivers that are in the source folder. Shouldn't it only copy the drivers for that specific package only that are contained in the source folder?
