  1. Hi All,

I am stuck with DHCP-NAP issue here at user end.

Whenever the client machines sleep or rebooted or even network cable is plugged out and in, the machines stop getting correct "Subnet Mask".

As per our NAP policy if machines are:

    • NAP Non-Compliant
    • NAP Non-Capable

then only these machines will be quarantined and won't get correct "subnet Mask", and hence will be blocked from accessing our corporate network.

However, machines which are NAP-Compliant, gets quarantined and every time when we do a "ipconfig /release" followed by "ipconfig /renew", machines again starts picking correct "Subnet Mask" and is able to access network.

So far, the troubleshooting (event viewer states) states that the SHV send their states to NAP client (user end) but the NAP client is not able to communicate back to SHVs.

Hence, even the NAP-Compliant machines are getting quarantined.

Any expert here, who can help me... Its affecting many users and my image too... :(

  2. Package CNT001AB is HTA-Password...yes it is very much available and accesible....

However, today I realized that the ultimate issue is that OSD process is not able to pick the existence of Hard Disk and thus not able to save _SMSTASKSEQUENCE folder in the largest available partition.....(from where the process executes the "install software" applications)

The issue is found in the smsts.log file (as below):

  3. Hi all,

Whenever I try to perform OSD through network, the following steps happen:

    1. Client machines gets an IP and boot image gets downloaded.
    2. Task seqences shows up, and I choose any task sequence.
    3. As soon as I choose a Task Sequence and it tries to confirm the location of applications in Task sequences, it fails to do so. Below is the snapshot of the smsts.log file:

I have feeling that machine is not able to get machine policy , as a result not able to locate the desired package.

    Please help...Its really urgent.

    Thanks in advance

  4. Hi All,

Please help me out here guys.

The issue is,, there is a site where when machine is started for OSD thriugh network.

It picks-up IP, Contacts DHCP easily but after that gets "TFTP Time Out Error". It means boot image is not downloaded and further process is not processed.

However, on PXE server, in SMSPXE.log a hit is generated where I can see the error as:

    MAC=00:25:11:07:3F:E5 SMBIOS GUID=FEFEFEFE-FEFE-FEFE-FEFE-FEFEFEFEFEFE > Device found in the database. MacCount=1 GuidCount=239 smspxe 10/22/2012 11:01:15 AM 2040 (0x07F8)

My concern is that, as per the log above, the request from client is receiving at DHCP server, but still it is not able to proceed ahead and download boot image + other process that follows.

    Please help me out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks in advance

  5. Hi all,

    My scenario is:

    I have a Primary server (Say X) which is catering 7 different secondary sites (X1, X2, X3,...X7).

OSD through network was working fine, but:

Recently, after TASK SEQUENCE selection, its getting failed.

When I checked smsts.log filed for failed machines, I got the following:

    • successfully able to request primary server to provide list of DPs so that Task sequences can be resolved
    • there is no reply from primary server , hence getting status as "reply from server is NO REPLY" which in turn tells us "Content Location Request Failed".

By analysing it, i got to know that machines are sending requests tocheck the availability of all applications involved in Task Sequence.

But there is "NO REPLY" from the primary server. and hence I am getting "Content Location Request Failed", although the related applications are available where they should be.

So I went to one of the secondary server and checked smspxe.log and I found that ... after the machines get Task sequences and the select one of them... "It Fails to read PXE settings."

So I assumed that there is some issue with the MP of primary server and checked pcontrol.log on it but it is working fine with exit code 200 everywhere.

Then I investigated sender.log and didnt find anything fishy.

What I concluded is that the primary server is not able to reply to system's requests to check availability of applications dependent on Task sequence.

Please sumbody suggest quickly....as OSD is down for a complete city :( ..... please help

    Thanks in advance

  6. OK... Let me elaborate things...

I have a Primary server and an Secondary server(which acts as PXE server).

So far, What I have done is:

    1. Installed WDS role on PXE server.

    2. Did the configuration of WDS on PXE server.

    3. From the Primary server, I added the PXE role on my Secondary server.

After this, what should happen is that the PXE role should have been added on PXE server. As a proof of that PXESETUP.log and PXECONTROL.log should have generated on the PXE server.

    But that is not happening.

When I checked the Senders.log on Primary site to check the flow of communication from the Primary server to Secondary(PXE) server, I found that the communication between the Primary server and the PXE server(secondary) is happening normally. I have updated the packages on that server ans updation happened sucessfully, hence proving that communication is OK.

    So the overall agenda is:

    1. PXE role has been added on PXE server from the Primary server but PXEsetup.log and PXEcontrol.log are not being generated.

2.Technically I should not get "server share" option when updating boot image on PXE server untill PXEsetup.log has been generated successfully on PXE server (as a proof of successful PXE role installation). BUT I am getting this option out of no-where.

My deadline ends 12 hours from now. :(

Please suggest, what can I do ??? :(

  7. Hi All,

I am a newbie in OS deployments through PXE.

I installed WDS on PXE server and then configured the same.

After that I added PXE role from the primary server but I am not able to see PXESETUP.log on the PXE server.

I even tried re-installing WDS and adding PXE again but it didn't help.

I checked senders.log from primary server. It has no mentioning of the PXE SERVER at all.

Can any genius help me? :)
