In going through my installation we would like to only utilize an off box Distribution Point. Is there a way to either disable the on box one or only publish to the off box one? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am having a very strange error crop up while testing the deploy and capture of a boot OS via a task sequence. The error occurs on x86 or x64, on VM's or physical clients. SCCM 2012 is installed per the fantastic tutorial here and this error is appearing on part 7. When deploying the boot image to the target pc, the PE environment loads and immediately resets the client pc with this error: Failed to run task sequence - An error occurred while retrieving policy for this computer (0x80004005) After some searching around I found and tried these: Link 1: Permissions & Link 2: Certificates Unfortunately, neither helped. I have granted sufficient permissions to client systems to access the boot.wim image and the only certificate available is loaded into SCCM and is unblocked. Its difficult to be 100% sure re the certificates issue, as that link is to a 2007 SCCM structure and I think that Admin.\Security\Certificates would be the corresponding location in 2012. At this point I have reinstalled the distribution point, setup new boot images for both x86 & x64, created new tasks and sent them out to the clients and still ... nothing. Clients are still restarting immediately after the PE loads. I have tried to look at the smsts.log on the clients, but they are listed as empty, so cannot. The smspxe.log file reports business as usual with no unusual\error based behaviour. Any ideas anyone or anyWeb? At this point I am at my wits end, but need to continue regardless... Cheers & Thanks

Hi! Yesterday I tried to create a distribution point on a Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x86 machine because on SCCM 2007 we have about 110 small locations with a BDP. So we need this feature in 2012, too. I clicked through the wizard to add a new site system but on the Windows 7 machine nothing happens. The client is already installed and everything else works fine. I configured the site server and network access account as domain admin. The client push installation also works fine. What's wrong? On the Technet Library for SCCM 2012 I could'nt find any solution. Did anyone (or anyweb :-) tried this and got this working? Has the DP machine to have a x64 architecture? Thanks for help.

Hello, I read a statement on the internet mentioning SCCM 2012 RTM Distribution Points will be able to push the SCCM client out. Our organisation is currently looking at changing secondry severs to distribution points with SCCM 2012, can anyone confirm if the above statement is true ? Best Regards, Alex.

Good morning all, I've a question regarding Courier Sender parcel creation and wondered if you could help? I've set up a courier sender between site PRI (Primary) and site SEC (Secondary) as the link is woefully slow between these two sites. I've also specified the preferred sender for the packages to be Courier Sender. All packages that have not been previously distributed to the SEC DP are presented in Courier Sender Manager and I can parcel and distribute them no problems at all. Any packages that have previously had the SEC DP assigned and have begun to copy to this location are not visible for parcel creation in the Courier Sender Manager. If I remove the SEC DP from the package, change the sender preference and re-add the DP so that it shows install pending I am still not presented with the option to parcel it. There appear to be no SRQ files being generated for this kind of package. Can anyone suggest the best approach to take to ensure all packages can be parcelled and sent by Courier? Thanks, Ian.
