  2. Hello all, I just received a batch of Dell Precision Tower 7810 workstations and I need to get them imaged and deployed. The issue I am having is with the NIC and some odd behavior during OSD and afterward. I have the driver from Dell that came from their system driver pack (http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/enterprise-client/w/wiki/7556.precision-t7810-windows-7-driver-pack) and it seems to install okay. However, I can't get any of my applications to install during the TS with this driver. I can hit F8 and ping my DP and everything, but nothing will download and install. Once the TS finishes, and the machine boots into Windows, the taskbar shows the NIC as disconnected, but I have a network connection. The machine is added to the domain during the TS without issue. The SCCM client is installed during the TS, but it won't communicate with my management server once booted into Windows. I'm able to ping internally and externally without issue. I saw the comment on the Dell CAB webpage where the user used a newer driver, and I tried that as well with no success. So far, I have tried: the driver that comes in the Dell driver pack the driver download individual from Dell for this model the driver off Intels website the driver I pulled off a computer that came from Dell before I attempted to image with my organizations image All of these drivers exhibit the same behavior. The computer right out of the box using Dells image works fine. Anything done with OSD, and there are problems. I have no issues imaging any other machine whether it be made from Dell or HP For giggles, I installed Windows manually off a USB thumb drive and used the same drivers as above, and everything worked fine. I'm really scratching my head here on this one. I would say there is a problem with my image, but I don't have any issue with any other model across several vendors using the same image, so now I'm really at a loss. None of it really makes any sense at this point. The Dell T7810 uses the Intel I217-LM NIC, which I have other models that use as well, but the T7810 is the only one giving me issues. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated
  3. Hello, I am currently having issues with clients not communicating with my management point server. It seems this all started late last night and I have been unable to pinpoint the issue. I am also fairly new to this so it may be a simple fix I am overlooking. We were alerted to this problem by SCOM messages "No Active Management Point Candidates Detected" So far I have done the following: Verified no certificates were expired Unchecked CRL Check for clients Switched site back to HTTP or HTTPS Uninstall/Reinstalled MP/IIS All the client logs look like this: LocationServices.log Failed to send management point list Location Request Message to <servername> Failed to refresh security settings over MP with error 0x80004005. Executing Task LSSiteRoleCycleTask No security settings update detected. 2 assigned MP errors in the last 10 minutes, threshold is 5. The server logs look like this: MPcontrol.log >>> Selected Certificate [Thumbprint 85c4ede525559b070827a496de642f080d5d35d9] issued to 'Servername' for HTTPS Client Authentication Call to HttpSendRequestSync succeeded for port 443 with status code 200, text: OK Sent summary record of SMS Management Point on ["Display=\\servername\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=XXX"]\servername\ to \\servername\SMS_XXX\inboxes\sitestat.box\9h9un5x8.SUM, Availability 0, 524285948 KB total disk space , 372624436 KB free disk space, installation state 0. 4. I am trying to update my Windows 10 test workstations to update 1511 through SCCM. I have both KB3105211 and KB3105213 downloaded and deployed, but my clients are only getting KB3105213 and remaining at Windows versions 10240. They are also showing compliance without KB3105211 installed. When I check the cache the update is on the workstation but it never gets installed. My SUP is only checked to sync Windows 10 and Windows 10 LTSB updates. Any ideas on what is going on? Running SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 on Windows Server 2008 R2
  5. Hello All, I am trying to sync my WSUS Version: 3.2.7600.226 with SCCM 2012 R2 Version 5.0.7958.1000 but I am getting sync failures and I am not sure how to resolve these failures. 6. I have about 40 Win7 clients that are showing as inactive in SCCM 2012. At one time most of these were active. I cannot remote using SCCM nor can I mstsc into them. When I start the CmRcService it just stops, no errors in the event log as to why. It is set to start automatically, delayed. Log on local System Account. No dependencies Any ideas on how to fix these? Thank you, Martin
  7. Hi guys, and girls... I recently upgraded our SCCM environment from SCCM 2012 CU1 to SCCM 2012 R2 CU5 and during the first few months, everything worked fine. I had to recreate task sequences, and also Boot images due to this upgrade but again no worries there. Recently over the last week or so, I have begun seeing a major slowness when building machines. This is not just relative to Desktops but also to Laptops as well. I have tried recreating the Boot.WIM file, and added the relevant drivers but this makes little or no difference. I have also installed the: KB2905002 hotfix already. When the task sequence is run, the WIM file goes to about 4% and then slows down incredibly. The original time to complete a build used to be about 40 minutes or so, now its closer to 1.5 hours... Please can someone help me?

  9. WSUS is installed on Server 2012 R2 as a Role with SQL Server 2012. we have corporate Proxy Server to connect to Internet which we have to specify in web browser as a automatic configuration script in LAN settings. When I try to connect to Upstream Server on WSUS wizard using Proxy Server settings, getting an HTTP Error with Synchronization - WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.. also getting Event Error 10022. I tried using Port 8530 & 8531, each time these issues were related to proxy settings. need help!
  10. Hello, Our School District is wanting to move to UEFI/Windows 7 environment. We are having problems laying down a Windows 7 x64 image using UEFI pxe boot. I think it has to do with the way we are partitioning the disk but I am not sure what I need to change. I have attached a copy of our smsts.log file and screenshots of our task sequence. We are not using MDT task sequence. We are using a SCCM task sequence. Please any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Joe smsts.log
  11. Hi Everyone Strange problem we seem to be getting - wonder if anyone else has found the same issue... Standard task sequence for deploying Windows 7 x86 and some standard software, used on 7 remote sites each using a local distribution point One site seems to keep failing, on installing a custom application. Same task sequence works on other sites without issue on same make and model of machine Rebuilt the distribution point onto the same hardware, from Svr2008 up to Svr2012R2 - still failed task sequence Built a new DP as a virtual machine for testing - distributed content needed - failed the task sequence Convert the application to a package and it works fine! - but that seems to be a step backwards, and the TS works without issue at all other sites! Anyone have any ideas on what to look at or try? Thanks John
  12. I have an SCCM 2012 r2 environment up and working all the system checks are green and I am not experiencing any issues between servers. When I do a OSD I get the following error message at this running action: Apply Windows Settings, The task Sequence has failed with the error code (0x80004005) I have the SMSTS log from the computer and I will attach it. I also have a report from the history of task sequences that I will try and up load Can someone please look and see what I need to do to get deployments to work. 13. Halo Everyone, Hope you guys had a great weekend..........!!!! I have a question from the forum members ? Start with the Environment Overview: Single Forest environment , two domains Domain A : New Domain Created with SCCM 2012 R2 installed Domain B: Existing Domain with 500 Clients approx Now, Created a totally new SCCM 2012 R2 environment in a new domain Domain A. OSD , App Deployment , S/W Patching working like a charm. But there is another requirement by company : Company's requirement is to Add Domain B to the SCCM 2012 R2 and manage it the same way as primary Domain A (i.e OSD, App Deployment, S/W Patching) But, they are hesitant for the making any changes in the second Domain (i.e AD Schema extension and System Management Container creation) Configuration done So far : - Added the Domain B to SCCM 2012 R2 , ran Forest Discovery successfully. - Have Discovered all the Client Machines in Domain B - Configured the Client settings for pushing the Client Agent to Domain B machines (Note that the SCCM Client Push Account has domain Admin rights on Domain But Unable to push Client on Domain B Machines Tried to test on 5-10 machines, but apparantely it is failing to create the ccmsetup folder due to privillege issue ( I Guess ) Good thing -------------- Both MP (Domain A ) and DC (Domain can resolve each others DNS successfuly. As it is a same Forest, I assume don't have to set any trust relationship. So, I want to manage Domain B ( Old Domain Same Forest ) same way I am able to manage Domain A ( New Domain, Same Forest) without making any changes or extending the SCHEMA on Domain B Also, Please suggest How can I See the second Domain in the Task Sequence.... While Creating a OSD Task Sequence and Adding the Deployed Machine to any of the Domain ( At the Moment, can see only new Domain ) Please Help.....!!!!!!! Have been struggling with this issue for some days now Any suggestion would much appreciated... Thanks SCCM NewBie
  14. Hey, i have sort of a very strange problem, maybe someone is able to help me or at least tip me into the right direction on what i am doing wrong. We are running a SCCM2012 R2 CU3 environment. We deploy our Software and OS with it since Win7 without any issues. Now with Tablets emerging we obviously want to do the same here. This is what we do (for Win7 and Win8.1 seperate TS): Build and capture refrence image with a reference task sequence on a VM Apply Image from the original media from MVLS remove some preloaded apps junk install our corporate Software (Office, Reader, etc. ...) apply all Windows Updates from our WSUS (not SCUP) (ZTI script from MDT Tool) sysprep & capture the image distribute the Image and deploy through a different TS to our Systems Now here is the Point, if i now deply the Win8.1 reference image to a machine (SurfaceP3 or VM) and go to Windows updates it will request you to install Windows updates again, even though they already seem to be installed from the reference sequence. I also tried using the Offline Serviceing through a SCUP, that successfully applied the WU and also stated in the console, but when deploy the Image Windows updates also prompt me to install all updates even already installed. I also checked the eventvwr during the reference TS, it shows the Office Updates as installed successful and also Windows Updates as successful after a reboot has been done / what the script and the TS does anyways. I can also see the WIM file got quite bigger since the updates have been included (9+GB) What am i doing wrong. Why has this worked before for Win7 like a charm? Where can i check what's going wrong? Any help is appreciated!
  15. Hello, we recently sold a division of our company and i have about 100 or so devices that i need to remove from SCCM. Can i remove them by removing the boundary? Or is there a quick way to remove all the devices associated to that Boundary? The boundary is an AD Site. EDIT: I think i answered my own question, But can someone verify that this is a proper procedure? Im going to go into devices, align them by Active Directory Site, and delete any associated to that site, Then I will proceed to remove the boundary as well. Does that sound right? Thanks for any help!
  16. Hello all, Just wanted to say a big thanks to Niall, and the rest of the community, this website has been excellent at helping me out over the years with all ConfigMgr related issues! definitely wouldn't be the engineer I am today without all your help I have a question regarding Site Replication & Thread limits. My organisation has a large SCCM environment, with a CAS and 6 primary sites, with multiple secondary sites under each primary. We are trying to optimise the total threads & threads per site to increase performance of the replication of data across the hierachy. I've been going through a lot of the TechNet documentation regarding bandwidth management etc (mainly https://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/gg712701.aspx#BKMK_BandwidthBetweenSites) and cannot find what I am looking for. My questions are: 1. Does the 'Sender' settings (Properties of a site) only affect File based replication? or does it also affect database replication? 2. The 'warning' in the above link which states: "When you configure rate limits to restrict the bandwidth use on a specific file replication route, Configuration Manager can use only a single thread to transfer data to that destination site. Use of rate limits for a file replication route overrides the use of multiple threads per site that are configured in the Maximum concurrent sendings for each site." does this only affect file replication routes? or does the same apply for database replication routes, and also sending to remote distribution points? 3. Can anyone recommend / advise any 'best practice' or recommendations for optimising the concurrent thread settings? any links or advice is welcome Thanks Dave
  17. I'm running SCCM 2012 R2. Things have run pretty flawless for the past year. A few weeks ago we started getting random scclient.exe has stopped working errors and scnotification errors. We only get these errors on clients after an OSD has completed. The only fix is to uninstall and reinstall .net framework. However, this is a lengthy solution as we deploy 50-100 clients daily. I'm at a loss here PLEASE HELP!
  18. Hi all, We are building a new SCCM 2012 R2 on a new hardware with new site name. the existing one is so problomatic, we would like to start all over. We can recreate the software distribution from scratch. we have one primary site that holds everything including WSUS except SQL. the new Site will have SQL included with new database. I got stuck on the Discovery method. the new server is not discovering any PCs except itself. we tried Active directory, heart beat, IP range. the old server has boudries of the whole active directory. the new server was successfully added to System Management container. Log file ADForestDisc.log come back with the following when i run the discovery manual. Beginning Active Directory Forest Discovery Manager Entering function ThreadMain() Entering function CActiveDirectoryForestDiscovery::Initialize() Component SMS_AD_FOREST_DISCOVERY_MANAGER is marked active. Log verbosity level = 0 Entering function CActiveDirectoryForestDiscovery::Process() Entering function CActiveDirectoryForestDiscovery::ShouldRun() Entering function CActiveDirectoryForestDiscovery::CheckIfRunCountValueChanged() Admin requested to run discovery now. Server server.business.com belongs to forest business.com. Finishing Active Directory Forest Discovery Manager thread. Do you think it is because of the current server has the same boundries? I want to test with 1 OU in the domain that has PCs don't have agent installed yet. They are in a range of IPs i could use also. If i change the boundries on the current server from Activ directory site to 2 seperate IP ranges and then create a range of IPs on the new server. Would that cause any issues to the current inventory and collections on that server? this would be like this range 1 and range 3 are on the old and range 2 in the middle on new server. Does anyone have a better way to do it? I would like to test with actual production machines for a week then start moving PCs from old to new site. Best, and appreciate any ideas.
  19. Hi All, I am little confused about SCCM 2012 R2 "Configuration Manager Client package" and "Configuration manager Updates". I have updated SCCM 2012 R2 to CU3 and updates "R2 CU3 Client update" . What else do I need to update on clients machines.. And what is the difference between following two.
  20. Hi All, I have what seems to be a slight issue, perhaps someone can think of a creative solution, as so far I cannot see a way past the issue. So here we go: I have implemented OSD, it works fine for all hardware in our environment. Laptops (with dedicated NIC) Desktops (with dedicated NIC) The Task sequence is advertised to unknown computers. The question relates to tablets. I can build all flavours of tablets the company wishes supported, however.... The support engineers have limited docking stations for the surface pro3's and other tablets, and the company dont want to purchase a dock with each device. I have suggested at least a usb to ethernet adapter for each device which was also frowned upon... The initial build of a single unit works fine, however the MAC for the Docking station is then associated with the device just build. If i come along with another surface pro 3 for example and put it in the same dock to build - it is no longer unknown to sccm (MAC address i guess) and does not pxe to build. (unless i delete the previously built device from sccm which has the docks MAC associated...) Am i being dumb here? I was thinking about deploying the TS to a collection and importing, but this will not solve the mac issue. Any able to help me think clearer or suggest anything !! I will keep thinking and googling !!!
  21. We have recently upgraded from SCCM 2012 SP1 to r2 CU2. I am trying to recover the ability to image with XP using the boot.wim from sp1 (not the new ones created with r2). The task sequence successfully boots into PE, formats drive, applies OS and installs CM client. I have been able to validate each step in my smsts.log. The TS reboot after the Client install and never resumes the TS. Here is what I see in the SMSTS.log: Failed to get the environment key. Failed to resume task sequence (0x800700EA). 22. Hello I hope somebody can help me, I've created an xml file to hide wireless options during task sequence deployment and also wish to set locale settings to English GB within the same script. However the task sequence constantly fails despite trying plenty of variations. I am using SCCM2012 R2. Here is the script I am using: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <unattend xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend"> <settings pass="oobeSystem"> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <OOBE> <HideWirelessSetupInOOBE>true</HideWirelessSetupInOOBE> </OOBE> </component> </settings> <settings pass="oobeSystem"> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-International-Core" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <InputLocale>en-GB</InputLocale> <SystemLocale>en-GB</SystemLocale> <UILanguage>en-GB</UILanguage> <UILanguageFallback>en-US</UILanguageFallback> <UserLocale>en-GB</UserLocale> </component> </settings> <cpi:offlineImage cpi:source="wim://gcsc318a/sccm/osd/images/windows%208.1/enterprise%20x64test/sources/install.wim#Windows 8.1 Enterprise" xmlns:cpi="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:cpi" /> </unattend> Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I'm sure it's something simple but I just can't seem to get my head around it. I know both sections of the xml file used separately work fine, the hide wireless hides the wireless and locale settings set to en-gb when separated from each other. Many Thanks!
  23. Hi, I've been using SCCM 2012 R2 for some time know, but there are still some mysteries to me. I have been asked to start deploying software updates through it rather than WSUS or Windows Updates itself. Before i came along, people got their updates the old fashion way-Windows Updates. So after the grueling task of figuring that out, i've got it working-ish! My main concern with this method (and also Endpoint) is that the majority of our users are NOT on the domain/network at all times. We do have several hub offices whose machines are on the network, but our line of work is mostly remote. Meaning these users are on home, hotel or data card wifi--not the network. They also rarely get on VPN. So my question is: are these people going to receive updates or endpoint definitions while being "offline?" I have a bunch of machines listed as inactive in Devices since they are never on our network. Is there a call home feature I'm unaware about with the sccm client? Keep in mind, when the machines are sent out, they are all sent out the same and with the client installed and working properly. Is this a bad setup in our environment? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
  24. Is it possible to add a SCCM 2012 R2 distribution point to a server that’s already hosting a website using IIS? If so are there any special configuration issues to consider? I’ve added the DP role to the server in question and from a SCCM standpoint everything appears fine, I can distribute software to it and it otherwise seems functional. However when I try to install something from the Software Center the installation never gets past the point where the status message says, “downloading”. Eventually it will time out and say it failed. I’m somewhat new to SCCM so this may be an obvious issue, but any help would be appreciated.
  25. Hi all; I have the following critical situation: 1. With in the Site Status the Site System Role "Management Point" status is Critical. If I start the Configuration Manager Service Manager and query the SMS_MP_Control_Manager, it shows that it is stopped, when I start it, i get the above error immediately in the event log. Event Log error: component SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER on computer SCCM-PRI.domain.com reported: SMS Executive detected that this component stopped unexpectedly. Possible cause: The component is experiencing a severe problem that caused it to stop unexpectedly. Solution: Refer to your ConfigMgr Documentation or the Microsoft Knowledge Base for further troubleshooting information. 2. On Client machines, I see lots of event 6006 warnings, Source: Wlclntfy The winlogon notification subscriber <Profiles> took 129 second(s) to handle the notification event (Logon). And: Event ID: 63, source: WinMgmt The description for Event ID ( 63 ) in Source ( WinMgmt ) could not be found.
