I've been trying to get the client to install on a machine that is in a workgroup. It fails miserably every time with the following error from the ccmsetup.log File C:\Windows\ccmsetup\{59A0EA77-D28C-4286-83A6-04BB57B9CDD6}\client.msi installation failed. Error text: ExitCode: 1603 Action: CcmSetObjectSecurityInit. ErrorMessages: Setup failed due to unexpected circumstances The error code is 80070534 What am I doing wrong as the client push account is setup to use a domain account and localhost\administrator. Any help would be appreciated.

Help with SCCM and Active Directory On same server. Well hello my name is Zaper and I'm from Israel First thing first: I never seen an SCCM in my life this is my first time and I got no idea how to use it. Now few years ago a guy that used to work here installed the SCCM in our Active Directory server so I have on the same server both SCCM 2007 and my active directory. (Windows server 2003). my manager came over and sad "well we got this something that supposed to work but no one have a clue how to use it so you do it". Now all I need to happen is I want to push a package that will be installed on certain clients in my active directory. When I had a new client to my AD it wont show on SCCM but! When I click: Connect to site data base > connect to site data base on this server > browse I see the new client I added to the AD. Please If I got no chance to make it work please let me know. Hi! What is the best way to deploy Java Update using SCCM 2012 in a corporate enviroment? Today we use a script that kills internet browser and all java running, notifying the users to save work etc. I'm hoping that there is a smoother way to do this using applications in SCCM 2012? Cheers, Oyvind

Hello, First of all, I would like to apologize if this is in the wrong place. This is my first topic submission. I have deployment experience with MDT and SCCM 2012 but this is my first time using the HP Proliant Task Sequence. I have had nothing but issues with this since it went in. It appears that it works from default, but when I make any changes, the jobs fail. First change I made was to install features. I needed to install Dotnet 3.5 and Telnet Client as part of the TS. I added this step in at the end before it resets the reboot variable and ticked the required boxes. Other steps are things like diskpart (To scan in my second disk) and a command line to change page file etc. When the TS is deployed, it fails at that step with a rather generic error and just reboots into Windows. I cant remember the exact errors as I have now removed these options from my TS (I can add back if you need exact) Second issue A few other HP Features do not appear to be installing correctly. For example: Array configuration Utility, Network Configuration Utility and HP Diagnostics etc These are nowhere to be seen. I thought these were supposed to be part of the default TS? As a workaround I added a PSP package as an application to install after deployment. HPSUM.exe -silent is the install, This deploys correctly but still no ACU or NCU anywhere to be seen! Maybe I am doing something wrong but I am pretty sure after looking online that these functions should atleast be installed as part of the PSP install packs!. We have our SCCM environment primarily running on one server with the SQL DB living remotely. Infrastructure guys want to move the database box from one physical device to another (with the same name). I will be referring to this documentand this one. I am curious as too the permissions required to run the sms_site_sql_backup service . I know the computer account needs to be a local administrator to install it as a site server. But I am curious as to whether it needs to remain a local administrator for any future jobs after placing it's hooks. So in summary, I understand the SCCM server wants to be a local administrator for the install of a remote database site. But I am wondering if that access can be reduced after the database site server is setup? Anyone think of any "got chas" with migrating to a different physical server with the same name?

Hello, I have been working for a few months trying to setup an SCCM 2012 Secondary Site in another domain and I have been running into the same issue over and over again. Here is the situation: I have two domains: Domain1 and Domain2. There is a trust setup between Domain1 and Domain2. I've been looking at the SP1 beta of sccm 2012 in my lab, and also read up some on it, and i found some information that says the following: "More flexible hierarchy management with support to expand a stand-alone primary site into a hierarchy that includes a new central administration site, and the migration of a Configuration Manager SP1 hierarchy to another Configuration Manager SP1 hierarchy. (Source: http://technet.micro...ibrary/jj591552) From what i can understand, this means that you should be able to join a hierarchy currently only using a Primary Site as a top, to a CAS structure, without starting from scratch. I've got 2 separate hierarchy's in my LAB (One CAS with a Primary, and one Primary StandAlone), but i can't really seem to find out how this can be done. Hi All, Is there a way to force a task sequence to rerun even if it had run successfully before on the PC? My situation is as follows: PC1 has Windows 7 installed through the SCCM task sequence. PC1 has issues, and requires its HD wiped and given a fresh build. Essentially, I'd like to be able to add PCs to a collection that forces those PCs to rerun the task sequence, despite it's previous successes/failures. PC1 does not rebuild in this instance as it already has the task sequence as 'installed' in the Software Center. Maybe I'm overlooking something obvious here, but if someone has done this before, a bit of help would be appreciated.

Ok I have been successfully installing OS via PXE w/o an issue. The issue I am having is restoring user profile in the deployment. I created 2 TS for Windows 7 x64 and x86 as a Refresh/ReImage of PC which should capture the user profile and restore it orignally. When I deployed it to my 2 test Laptops I was able to run the Refresh via the Software Center GUI. Worked GREAT!! So since these 2 user Laptops fails to install the Client I will be performing these via PXE Boot>Win7Refresh Deployment. However on my test laptops it fails to copy and restore the user profiles that I setup as a test. Any thoughts or what I might be doing something wrong?

Hi Guys, I am in the middle of planning an sccm design and have hit a crossroads. Basically we have 2 larger sites ( one with more kit than the other ) and 1 smaller site connected to each. my first question is, should I use primary and secondary sites or should I use cas, primary and secondary. OR should I use primary and DP's etc. all sites have aprox 1000 users and 100mb site links. the other thing I was unsure of is how to make sure that if one site is offline can the other site still do osd ?? do I need to add MP's to achieve this or ?? thanks

Hi all, Probably quite a noob question here, I have created applications in SCCM 2012 and added them to my deployment task sequence and they install nicely. I’m new to SCCM and thinking there must be a way of building generic packages of applications that I have overlooked. Ideally I’d like to be able to collate a group of apps in one package/task/group, so that I can just select that group when deploying an OS and get all the apps I’m wanting? For example, I’d like to make a group called “LAB Applications” that contains all my generic apps and then I could add that to my deploy Windows 7 task…. can someone point me in the right direction? Can you please help with these terms and explain Process flow that we follow before doing Software Distribution and Patching. Like : 1. Who will the authorized person to raise a request? 2. Once you get the request what is the first thing we do? 3. Will there have a meeting? 4. Who raises the change request? 5. What approval you need and who has to approve it? 6. Testing phase..and so on.... Step by Step procedure related to Process flow of Software Distribution and Patching that we do before starting the actual process of deploying/Patching on the tool. Having built a System Center (cm)12 for the purpose of WSUS and imaging of a new Win 7 and to deploy applications via the application catalogue. I have followed the instructions of this site. FANTASTIC but the question of getting just Visio, not office 2007 to deployment via the application catalogue I can’t find an answer to…. First you have issue relating to exe to MSI for the catalogue to display, and got many exe based apps to deploy and work all via the catalogue with approval and detection methods working but i just can’t get Visio to install correctly from the catalogue. Visio is shown in the catalogue, approval works and then it tries to install with various errors. Each time I change anything, it prompts me to say it has a new software and I clear the CCMCache folder via the client to ensure it pulls the new on down. Using setup.exe /visio.msp /config config.xml, nothing happens: I have amend the config.xml to include the PID key (with works on a manual install VLK version) it gives error 30030 Using setup.exe /config.xml just reinstalls office back on to the already installed version from the fat image. Using the setup.exe /adminfile "\\****\Deployment\Applications\Office 2007 Professional Plus\Setup_visio.msp" /config \\****\Deployment\Applications\Office 2007 Professional plus\config.xml gave error 30066 I feel as I am going round in circles and yet I have goggled answers and they all point to the methods I have tried.

I have a way of listing all the members of a particular collection, but I don't have the reverse, which would be listing all the collections a member is in. I'll post what I've got. First, thank you all for putting together such a complete forum on SCCM and related topics as they have been essential in my daily duties. We are attempting to deploy custom normal.dotm, blank.potx, and normalemail.dotm files which are configured for Verdana font. So far, the following items have been completed: 1. Created customized W7 Image on VMWare 2. Installed Office 2010 SP1 with custom (normal.dotm, blank.potx, normalemail.dotm) located at c:\users\%username%\appdata\microsoft\templates 3. Ran Sysprep by running following .CMD <C:\windows\system32\sysprep\sysprep.exe /oobe /shutdown /generalize /unattend:C:\windows\system32\sysprep\unattend.xml> 4. Captured .wim using ImageX 5. Deploying OSD via SCCM 2012 All customizations are deployed properly to all users who login except for the Office Template files (CopyProfile=True in unattended.xml). The path c:\users\%username%\appdata\microsoft\temlates is not copied to each user who logs in. To rectify this, we added a RunOnce registry entry on our Reference Machine to create the path and copy the necessary files. We thought this was the fix, but once Word is launched for the first time it renames the normal.dotm file to .old. Microsoft has published the following article to address this issue (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2408845) which does work on a per user basis. However, we need to ensure this registry entry is present for any user who logs into the computer. At this point, we have tried also using the RunOnce function to import the reg key ("HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word\Options\MigrateNormalOnFirstBoot", 1, "REG_DWORD") but this has not worked in adding the Reg entry for each user. Can we get some guidance on how to best deploy custom normal.dotm, blank.potx, and normalemail.dotm during OSD with SCCM 2012. Thank you all!

Hello, all. This is my first post here, and I'm in need of some assistance from some System Center experts. We are looking at possibly deploying Internet Based Management in our SCCM 2012 environment, but it looks like we can't do it when we push the upgrade from 2007 to production. We do NOT have Internet Based Management in our current SCCM 2007 environment. The scenario we would most likely use is having the MP in our intranet and using a reverse proxy server with PKI to allow Internet clients to authenticate into our network. We have an F5 that would handle the traffic coming in, and the incoming https connections would terminate there and then be sent from the F5 back to the internal MP. Question 1) Can we do this after our SCCM 2012 environment is up and running in production? If so, what do we need to do to make it happen? Should we go ahead and create the Workstation Certs and the Web Server Certs now, or can all of the certificate creation wait until we're at the point of setting up Internet Based Management? Question 2) Will any roles need to be recreated when we implement Internet Based Management if it's done later, or will we need to rework our hierarchy? We want to avoid that as much as possible. Question 3) Can documentation be provided for the above answers (i.e. technet or something similar)? Thank you SO MUCH. I appreciate it!! Sarah

Hi guys.. we have a server (08r2) that does all. wsus, eset rac, pdq inventory, print server , etc .. we only have this one box.. I was wondering if i could house SCCM within a VM inside this server to play with package deployment and stuff or if i would need a separate box (no budget). server is pretty robust and fast and its currently managing about 100pc's . please let me know thank you

In SCCM 2007R2 I can only select the following for Windows 8 within Search Folders. Windows 8 Consumer Preview. WSUS is showing updates for Windows 8 and I can select that. How can I enable Windows 8 updates on my SCCM Environment? Do I have to upgrade to 2007R3? Or is there a hotfix/patch that will enable this access without causing too much trouble?

Is anyone having issues building and capturing an OS with RC2? I was redoing lab 7 and RC2 will not create the .wim file for some reason. I recall doing lab 7 for RC1 and it worked fine. I recall from RC1, that the TS step in lab 7 took a couple of minutes to comlete, but in RC2 it takes just seconds and when I check the path specified for saving the .wim file...the folder's empty. Any suggestions?

Having an issue with my single primary site/Management point, case is currently opened with Microsoft. It starts like this... Recently I noticed clients have not been reporting in to the site. This include hardware, software inventories, etc. BITS crashed my console and threw errors, the documented fix was to uninstall BITS, reboot and re-install on the server- done. Then noticed ALL SQL logins have been removed with the exception of a SMSremoteusers read only account!! Microsoft suggested re installing db. - done. A side note is we have a SCCM 2012 VM Test environment - segregated from our production environment by VLAN and ACOLS. Test environment has own DC, etc. But I don't see any type of interference. Hope someone can help! Hi, I have a problem with the CCM agent. there is a lot of computer that haven't got the CCM agent installed. When i try to install it manually i get. We set the Site code via GPO We have AD Site and IP subnet boundary we have a total of 3 servers. 1 master (CSM) and 2 sites( CMA and CMB) . all running w2k8R2 sp1 tried to uninstall the client manually but when i try to install it i get the same error.. ill provide more info if needed !

Morning, I'm hoping one of you bright sparks can help me figure out which simple switch or option I have not activated to make this work. The issue: The Application Catalogue hosted on the SCCM 2012 server is not displaying any results for ANY applications, even though the local Client has the correct deployed list of applications and is functioning correctly. Users are able to launch installations from the local client. Looking at the settings on the server it looks correct for standard HTTP traffic and the server is requesting login credentials when users try to access the online catalogue (which is correct - the environment is a school and I do not want students to access the catalogue unneccessarily) Included are some screenshots since pictures are a 1001 words worth!
