  1. Hi I have a WSUS server with NO internet connection. I need to deploy KB2671387 to few of my client machines. I have downloaded the .msu file of KB2671387 to my local machine. How can i deploy this .msu file of KB2671387 to few of my client machines using WSUS ? I cannot use "import update" as there is no internet connection. I need to use WSUS to deploy this patch. Can this be done with manually deploy. It would be great if you can share step-by-step procedure. Regards, Govardhan
  2. I have recently starting testing the SUP capability of SCCM 2012. I have followed the guides to set up the Server and all seems to be working fine. Updates are being downloaded and showing on the server console. However on the client side there seem to be a few teething problems. The clients are showing that they need the updates but aren't downloading them. I checked WUAHandler.log and found this error repeated regularly. Its a WSUS Update Source type ({804E0972-01D9-479F-8E38-E58576D82725}), adding it. 3. Hello forum! Firstly, I would like to thank anyweb for all of his guides and help he has been able to give us all!! Anyway, I am after my own little bit of personal help. I have successfull installed and deployed SCCM 2012 to a live AD Environment. It already has a WSUS server, but I have since changed Group Policy to point to my new SCCM Server. I have added the SUP and DP roles to SCCM, and configured WSUS as you have explained i: using System Center 2012 Configuration Manager - Part 5& using System Center 2012 Configuration Manager - Part 9. Deploying Monthly UpdatesIt has successfully downloaded and deployed updates to my PC's (XP in this case, but I do have others like Server 2003, 2008, 2008R2 and Windows 7). It shows in the Software Center: As you can see, it is showing 0% downloaded. It has been like this for a couple of days now, and if I try to get another to run at the same time, it says no because there is an install already in progress. I have seen this post, and tried the boundary changes, and also adding the DP to a DP Group, but no luck (reverted the boundary back to AD now, but left DP in DP Group, as I can't see it being a bad thing?!?). I have followed the guides to the word, except for the odd word where I have had to name things to match our naming convention of course lol. I hope someone can help me, as I am in the middle of creating a new Image for my network (both Windows XP and Windows 7), and I would prefer as many updates already applied as possible before I take the image, and of course, I would like to have it all working . EVERYTHING else seems to work, from deploying software and images, to creating device collections with rules. This is the ONLY issue I have. And one last thing, WSUS has been installed on the new server, never touched, just opened once accidentaly and then closed immediately, nothing touched. Also, the old WSUS server is still up, but nothing is talking to it at the moment. Thanks very much to anyone who can help me, I hope this post can help and relate to others too! Phil
  4. Hi I have recently deployed SCCM 2012 using your configuration guides, which are excellent! I have deployed a standalone server and everything else is configured as advised in the guides. The issue I have is when MS updates are deployed after patch Tuesday. In the past it was possible, through GPO, to delay a system reboot after updates have been applied with the option given to user to delay a reboot for a period of time. I am unable to get this functionality to work in SCCM 2012 as each time updates are applied, SCCM displays a dialogue box advising that the system will be rebooted in xx time. There is no option to delay the reboot. In my Monthly Updates ADR I have configured, under User Experience', suppress system restart for both servers and workstations but this does not appear to work. I am still quite new to SCCM 2012 and so far I am enjoying its functionality, but this is causing me a real headache. Any help would be much appreciated. Regards Paul
  5. Good day, This is the case and this is what I did: I had run scan windows updates for new updates Create a new serach Critira that is:Windows 7 only Superseded : NO Expire: No Automatic deployment Rule Windows 7 Security - Updates Schedule non business hour what happend there are some updates like .NetFrame Work v 4 applied on windows 7 and also windows 2008 Server. So what did I miss or why the updates applied to Windows Server.. Thanks
  6. Hi as I know and read, I can use the WSUSUtil movecontent to move the updates to another drive but what if I have SCCM 2012, are the steps the same or there is another procedure should I follow Thanks
  7. Having a problem with the WSUS part of SCCM 2012 not working on agents in our DMZ. Internal agents working fine. DMZ agents have PKI certificates from internal PKI, and are appearing in the console as active inventory. Because many parts of the SCCM roles must be configured for HTTP or HTTPS and not both at the same time: 1 - these agents are on a boundary that assign them to a MP that is configured for SSL. Agent control panel shows correct MP. 2 - these agents are also in a collection with different client settings to assign them an 8531 appcat. SDCSCMP23 is the HTTP WSUS/Appcat/MP for internal agents SDCSCMP25 is the SSL WSUS/Appcat/MP with PKI certs for DMZ agents The problem is that SCCM is configuring DMZ agents to use the HTTP parts of the Infrastructure for WSUS, and not the HTTPS parts. Per MS Doc, Client Settings are supposed to auto assign an HTTPS appcat before an HTTP one, but this was not happening, so I made my own client settings to assign the HTTPS appcat. Simply modifying the firewall config to permit 443, 8531 to this other server is NOT an option, because those servers are listening on 80, 8530 (for internal HTTP agents) not 443, 8531. We have a requirement to use only 443, 8531 for the DMZ agents. Have verified that 443, 8531 are open through the firewall to SDCSCMP25 from the agents. This is SCCM 2012 SP1. We are NOT assigning WSUS servers through GPO. How do I get SCCM to assign the correct WSUS servers to these agents? 8. Good Day I have Server1 that is hosting: SCCM 2012 SQL 2008 WSUS Reporting DP .... now I got my new SQL Server and looking for : How can I move the SQL database to the new location (Do I also need to move the reporting DB ) ? Is Moving the database named as (CM_"SiteID") will be enough and dose it include all the config like WSUS Database ...etc Incase the reporting service is not installed on the new SQL Server, will the SCCM reports work ??? Thanks alot
  9. I am playing around with pushing out Windows Updates using SCCM 2012 and everything is going good until I get two updates that are stuck at downloading. Not sure what the issue is and not sure what logs to look at to find out what is causing this issue. Does anyone know how to fix this or ran into this issue? Thanks. I attached a screenshot of what happening.
  10. Hello, I running with a new 2012 build: Windows 2012 STD, SQL 2012 (CU5), and SCCM 2012 SP1. I installed WSUS and then SUP and most of the updates are downloading. Sporadically the wsyncmgr.log is showing : Failed to sync update “xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx”. Error: The Microsoft Software License Terms have not been completely downloaded and cannot be accepted. Source: Microsoft.UpdateServices.Internal.BaseApi.SoapExceptionProcessor.DeserializeAndThrow. I have looked at a lot of the solutions out there and of them none appear to apply. Permisisons in the DB and folders are good. WSUS path is good in SQL. Thank you! One side note: SUP had only English selected as my choice but when I was reviewing the settings in the WSUS console it was set to download all languages.
  11. Hi, I've been sitting with a problem, whereby no updates go through to computers, although it has synchronized properly, and no errors are shown. I've followed the guides on this site step-by-step, and I get no noticeable errors. If I try to send and update using wsus, it goes through fine. This is the case when it comes to auto deployments for anti-virus definition updates, and windows updates, selecting the updates to deploy, creating a software update group, deployment package and deploying it to a collection. What logs can I check, as no errors are reported whatsoever, and the updates simply do not come through, even though they are distributed to the distribution point, etc. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks. Coenie
  12. All of a sudden (last month I didn't have this problem) I get an error when trying to update some deployment packages or even create new ones for Windows 7 update deployment. I run though all the steps and when I get to the end (See Attachment). Anyone have an idea? I've checked permissions on the folder where the updates reside.
  13. Below is an error message I'm getting when I launch a Sync from the Config Manager console. This error shows in my site system status. Failures were reported on WSUS Server "TECH-SCCM1-MSV.forneyisd.net" for WSUS components "WSUSService,". Solution: Verify that the failed WSUS components are installed and running. Any ideas?
  14. Ok, I have several possible issues that I will place in order here and would like some asisstance if possible! I have SCCM 2012 installed on 1 server, WSUS on another server. I had to uninstall IIS/WSUS on server and reinstalled it because it was failing to sync with SCCM server When I reinstalled WSUS it prompted for Database but I went with the default option. I read somewhere it needs to be on a SQL server. Is this correct? I tried to connect it to the SQL DB on SCCM server but failed to communicate for some reason so hence I went with default option. I disabled the GPO pointing all Windows Updates to the WSUS server so SCCM can manage updates. I created some Device collections then Several ADRs and deployed to the Device collections. Now I am curious because I do not want my production servers to install the updates during business hours because it may have adverse affects plus I would rather have them restart off hours. How can I make that possible? The options from what I understand downloads and installs them automatically. Would I need to do this manually on all my servers? Also after reinstalling the WSUS my Workstations no longer can do Windows Updates. Error: Code 800B0001 Windows Update Encountered an unknown error. Is the GPO from windows update that I disabled causing this issue? I even did a gpupdate /sync /force and still got same error. I know to some of you this all may be stupid questions but I am new to SCCM of any kind and I work in a small shop so expertise is not high on this subject. Thanks for any help!!
  15. Hello everyone, Obviously setting up an ADR for FEP is pretty straight forward, but I was curious what other people are doing with ADR's to handle patch deployment...are there any particular settings you use for filter settings? How often do you have them run? Do you have different ADR's for different patch severity? Thanks for any input!
  16. Recently it has been added through WSUS an update for the sccm client. While it's trying to be installed we get in the logs : Have already tried all MPs. (https native client is working properly for all other updates)
  17. Dear All, Some background information... Over the last few months my colleagues and I have been working on building the foundations for our Windows 7 project. We have previously used WSUS as a stand alone service (This will still be used for Windows XP and Server based updates), however we have now built a new WSUS server specifically for use with SCCM 2007 SP2. Now for my problem... Our WSUS server has been installed and the updates are being populated into SCCM. I have created an update list and i am now attempting to download the updates and assign them to our deployment package. It appears that some of the updates download OK but as for other i am prompted with errors such as below: - Warning: Security Update for Microsoft Chart Controls for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (KB2500170) Errors The requested header was not found What have a i tried so far to troubleshoot the error? I have attempted to download the update on both the SCCM Server and the WSUS Server directly - this works OK I have checked and compared the proxy/PAC File settings on the old WSUS and the new WSUS/SCCM Servers and all of these match OK I have attempted to re-create an update list, deployment package and share but i am still prompted with the same error message I have compared the source location with the distribution folder and these match like for like, however not all updates are visible in the deployment package If anyone else has come across similar issues or can provide further suggestions this would be highly appreciated Thanks Richard
  18. I have an existing WSUS installation and it's running on the same server that I have sccm 2007 r2 running on. What do I need to do to unconfigure WSUS to be optimal. I read briefly some one mentioning removing the role and then adding it again not configuring it the 2nd time. Is this the way to do it? Currently sccm 2007 is managing updates (I think) but when I open Update Services I get the following view (see attached) when I open All updates. So, it looks as though WSUS is managing updates. What do I need to do to get this straight? Thanks for your help and I tried to include all important information that I knew to include.
