  1. Hi everyone, I have got a question on how to cancel a software distribution to a collection. Let me specify. We have 2 collections, servers and workstations. On the root of the workstation collection there are several software packages advertised to run on the collection and on all sub-collections. As soon as you add machines to the workstation collection or any sub-collection, the packages get advertised. Now someone wrongly created a sub-collection in workstations with servers in it. All the packages advertised to the workstations collection have been pushed to the servers. Luckly we us maintenance windows on the servers and the error was noticed and the servers were removed from the collection. But when I run the report "Status of a specific advertisement" I can see that the servers are still in the waiting status. More specific, waiting for service window. And, this service window is next weekend. My question now is will the software still be installed on the servers even as they are removed from the wrong collection? Can I cancel the advertisement on the servers? It only show in the reporting that there are advertisements pending. I can't find anything about the advertisements using the sccm client center app. Thank you in advanced. Grtz, Geert
  2. Hello at all, I’m working on a script which creates a SCCM collection and appends a collection rule. The function createCollection creates and moves the collection without any problems. The collection rule object is also created without any error codes, but at adding the collection rule (newCollection.AddMembershipRule newCollectionRule) I get a “general error”. Has anybody an idea how to fix this problem? Function createCollection(collectionName)     Dim validQuery, queryExpr ' creates the collection.     Set newCollection = objSccm.Get("SMS_Collection").SpawnInstance_()     newCollection.Name = collectionName     newCollection.OwnedByThisSite = True     newCollection.Comment = "Comment"               Set collectionPath = newCollection.Put_ ' Attempts to obtain the collection ID of the newly created collection. 3. I've created a collection called "Capture Images Collection". I imported computer information with the MAC address and told it to populate into that collection. When viewing that collection in the Configuration Manager Console, the imported computer doesn't appear. I've looked at the properties of the collection and it shows the computer listed as a direct rule. See attached. Anyone have an idea?
  4. Hello, I am really hoping someone has either a good script they have found our a good way to clean up and remove old collections quickly. The problem I have is this new company I am at use to make a 'temp' collection each time they had to push out a single install to one machine, however they never cleaned those up and deleting them individually would take a very long time. So my question would be: Does anyone know how to delete multiple collections at once? Thank you all,
  5. Hi All, Is there a way to force a task sequence to rerun even if it had run successfully before on the PC? My situation is as follows: PC1 has Windows 7 installed through the SCCM task sequence. PC1 has issues, and requires its HD wiped and given a fresh build. Essentially, I'd like to be able to add PCs to a collection that forces those PCs to rerun the task sequence, despite it's previous successes/failures. PC1 does not rebuild in this instance as it already has the task sequence as 'installed' in the Software Center. Maybe I'm overlooking something obvious here, but if someone has done this before, a bit of help would be appreciated.
  6. Is there an easy (automated) way to remove software from a user/computer when removing that object from a collection?
  7. I need to find the following variable (last characters changed) that is located in the registry and need to create a report or collection if any machines have this value in it. What would be the best way of doing this? Has anyone done this before or have any scripts that can pull this information? Would it be easier to create a program to perform a search through the registry and if it's successful to post it's computer name as a text file to a specific open shared folder (not sure if this is possible, sure it is not even sure how to do it just thinking..) Computer\HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Policies\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\Root\Certificates\AY600DXAIEJANENUEE Thanks,
  8. How do you restore a computer that was deleted from a collection, but it doesn't have the SCCM client installed on it?
  9. Hi, I'm wondering if it is possible to pull in only computer objects that are part of a specific Active directory Security group to a collection, and how such a query will look. Has anyone had to do this in the past, and is it possible? Ultimately we would like to separate computers by departments, and our AD access is such that we cannot create new ou's. Thanks. Coenie
  10. Hi, I've just got WOL working in our environment to the point where using sccm I can distribute a package, wake the machine up, install the package and shut the machine down again. However, if i create an advertisement and associate it with a collection with no machines in currently and then add machines to that collection it doesn't work. But if I create an advertisement with WOL ready and associate it with a collection with machines in it, it works great. Just wondering if i'm missing anything? Thanks
