  1. Consider the following: The BIOS date & time are correct Date & time remain correct up until the Task Sequence selection screen Once a Task Sequence is selected, the date & time are updated to the built-in WinPE timezone, thus making it the incorrect time. Is this normal and expected behavior?
  2. Hi all, I have to uninstall a software on all our computers (2000+) but the uninstall has to be interactive. The reason for this is because after that particular software is removed many programs stop working (Citrix applications, IE, Google Chrome, etc...) If I deploy the uninstall script silently the software is removed but users will start calling our helpdesk because all these programs will stop working. I have created a HTA file and a VBS script with information presented to user. User can choose to postpone the uninstall 5x or to uninstall immediately. If postponed 5 times the uninstall is forced. The HTA file + script work flawlessly if ran manually and user is local administrator. I was planning to deploy a scheduled task with SCCM that will run the HTA file at logon with the SYSTEM account because non of our users is local admin. Problem is that when running something with the SYSTEM account it is not presented on the desktop. The process is running but it is not interactive. You don't see it. Is there any way to acomplish this? Thank you
  3. I am very new to SCCM and am attempting to capture my first image but it keeps failing with the error 0x80070035 during the "capture the reference machine" process. My reference PC is a standalone HP 800G1 running Windows 7 SP1 x64 PC in a workgroup and have created the boot image iso on a DVD. I run the tsmbautorun.exe which runs sysprep and reboots the PC, then capture process starts and fails with the “image capture wizard has failed with the error code (0x80070035)" error. From the research I've done, it looks like an authentication error but I cannot see where its failing. I have tried this several times using both my credentials and the admin credentials. Obviously I am missing something somewhere and its probably something basic. I have attached the smts.log file. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help! smsts.log
  4. Hello, We are currently running SCCM 2012 R2 in our environment. We are running a Primary Site server with Endpoint protection and started using OSD. So far it has been a challenge but the guides here and on other online resources have been a tremendous help. We now want to leverage SCCM's capabilities to help us identify rogue software as well as try and make sure that our environment PC's are using a safe version of Java, Adobe Flash, Adobe Reader, etc. Could SCCM help us with this? Also once that software is identified would we be able to uninstall the rogue software and install a correct version of Java, Adobe Flash, etc. If so could someone with more experience provide some insight as to how I would configure something like this? Thank you!
  5. We received a large number of Inspiron 17 5000 series laptops for our hospital nurses. When trying to image them I'm getting a blue screen (attached). Any ideas how to get around this?
  6. Hello, I have sourced a powershell script which removes Windows 8.1 applications and the tile ( appx ) If I run the script manually on a client the script runs and removes the application tile from the metro screen. I have altered the script a few times to remove multiple application tiles at once and that worked fine as well. I have created a program in SCCM 2012 and deployed to a client. The EXECMGR log file tells me the script is received by the client and has run successfully, exit code = 0, the execution status is Success. But I can still see the tile on the metro screen and the app content in c:\program files\windows apps The script is as below - $AppsToDelete="*Microsoft.WindowsReadingList*" Foreach ($AppName in $AppsToDelete) { get-appxprovisionedpackage -online | where packagename -like $AppName | remove-appxprovisionedpackage -Online Get-AppxPackage -name $AppName -allusers | Remove-AppxPackage } The program used by SCCM2012 to execute the script is as follows - PowerShell.exe -ExecutionPolicy UnRestricted -File .\delappsreadinglistonly.ps1 Can anyone offer clues or pointers about what to do next ? My skills with Powershell are minimal ! Thanks...
  7. I have a few Windows 10 Test Machines. When I go to add them by direct query SCCM never find them. They have client installed and show in the SCCM console.
  8. Hi, I have a problem with the application catalog, initially i followed most of the setup tutorials published on this site about a year ago now, i had everything i wanted working nicely. Recently i've migrated the server objs and settings into a new domain and a new sccm installation with new site code. During my checks and re-installation i was going through folder permissions and always thought users shouldn't be able to browse the application source folder willy nilly. I'd like to know how the application catalog works in regards to security contexts, originally, i must have just added the everyone group to get the app catalog app installs working for all my users and then forgot about it. I've removed this group today and now none of my apps install. So what perms are needed on the app source folder to allow users to install apps from the app catalog? Current Security on Sources folder - all sub folders inherit from this share perms - everyone - full ntfs:- sccmadmin account - full sccm na account - read ex system - full sccm comp - full comp admins -full comp users - read ex i've attached the error from the citaskmgr log, although i think it would point you to a boundary group error, but i know this is not the case as if i add everyone back to the sec perms, software downloads ok. Thasnk all. Voodoo CITaskMgr.log
  9. Hi I am setting up SCCM 2012 on VM hosts, my setup is as follows: SQL Server 2012 running on WIn 2012VMware Cumulative update 6 applied SCCM Config Manager running on Win 2012r2, .net 3.5 sp1 and .net 4 I have SQL installed and running, but whenever I try to install SCCM and attach it to the SQL server i get an error: The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA) I can't seem to get past this issue, any help gratefully received Cheers Paddy
  10. Hey Everyone, When I've run in to hitches in the past this has been a great place to find information related to the problems I've experienced, so I'm hoping someone can help me out with the problem I'm currently having. I've been working on getting Operating System Deployment functioning on the newly-implemented SCCM server in my organization by following the instructions in Anyweb's guide. However I'm encountering an issue at the PXE boot portion of this. The SCCM 2012 server is virtualized, but is not using infiniband. The boot images have been successfully distributed, are checked with the "Deploy this boot image from the PXE-enabled distribution point" option. The distribution point itself has PXE support enabled, along with all of the other options for unknown computers, responding to PXE requests, requiring a password, etc. The WDS role was installed after setting this up, as per usual. There were a few indications of possible issues in the distmgr.log now that I look back at it (I presume if it's in red it's failure/error?) and I'll attach that in a moment. But I wasn't looking for anything but the WDS at the time. Anyway, so WDS is installed and since the DHCP server is not on the same host so I've set the appropriate DHCP options for PXE clients to access this. Attempting to PXE boot from a physical machine on another subnet simply results in the PXE client getting the DHCP address and then starting the TFTP, but then immediately exiting with "PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent" and proceeds to the next boot device. Not wanting to complicate things by traversing subnets just yet, I took that out of the equation and added a VM on the same subnet as the server. When I tried to PXE boot from that client it starts the TFTP process and then returns PXE-T01: The Specified file was not found, PXE-E3B: TFTP Error - File Not Found, PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM, etc. Taking a step back, I have attempted to troubleshoot the TFTP process and see what the hang-up here is. Checking the SMSPXE.log shows that it finds the image (though there are some errors here that don't make sense "Failed to copy the needed boot binaries from the boot image. The operation completed successfully. Error: 00000000"), after these errors it seems to find the images, load the required API, open the image, read the image file and then subsequently validate it. I check the REMINST folder for the appropriate files, they're there. So maybe the TFTP process is failing? On another system on the same subnet, I attempted to use the TFTP client to grab one of the PXE files from the SCCM server using the same information I supplied to the DHCP options. The only result is a long pause and a "TImeout occurred, Connect request failed" message. Trying the same command from the SCCM server itself grabs the file just fine. I try again from the TFTP client on a remote machine and attempt to grab a file that I know doesn't exist on the SCCM server. No pause, it errors out immediately saying "Error on server : The specified file was not found. Connect request failed". So, this confirms to me that it is at least communicating with the SCCM server at the TFTP level, but it's not getting the file that should clearly be there. I tried my first test with the TFTP client again, this time with wireshark running. It seends a read request on the correct file, and it looks like the SCCM server starts returning Data packets. The TFTP client continues to send read requests, and the SCCM server continues to send data packets until the TFTP client system sends an error code saying that there's been a timeout on receive. The SCCM server stops sending data packets shortly thereafter. The test file is only about 25k and should not present an issue of this sort. In my troubleshooting I've tried removing the WDS role through SCCM and then re-adding it as some guides have recommended (purging the windows temp folder in the process), I've turned off the firewalls of the computers I'm working with without any change in behavior, I've deleted the distributions for the boot files and re-distributed them/validated them. Looked for issues in the SCCM log files during the PXE process, the only issues I've found were from the setup of these - nothing during the actual process - see logs. I've checked and re-checked the settings that I've configured for these images and their distribution through SCCM. Sorry for the wall of text, wanted to provide as much info as I could as to what was happening and what I've done. I have yet to attempt this with a physical machine on the same subnet, but am working on that now. Any help is much appreciated! SMSPXE.log distmgr.log
  11. Hi Everyone, I am trying to automate MBAM Encryption during the OSD Task Sequence using the "StartMBAMEncryption.wsf" script provided in the following blog. http://blogs.technet.com/b/deploymentguys/archive/2012/02/20/using-mbam-to-start-bitlocker-encryption-in-a-task-sequence.aspx The command I use is - cscript.exe StartMBAMEncryption.wsf /MBAMServiceEndPoint:http://<MBAM Server Name>/MBAMRecoveryAndHardwareService/CoreService.svc I have used the script in both a "Install a Package" & "Run Command Line" group & both fail with the below error. Failed to run the action: Install a Package The system cannot find the file specified. (Error: 80070002; Source: Windows) Yet if I exit out of the Task Sequence, log onto the Laptop, & run the exact same command, MBAM Encryption starts first time without any problems. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! Jordan,
  12. Hi All I am stuck where i am unable to migrate the Computer name in a bit locked environment .Here is the details . I am following this post http://blogs.technet.com/b/jimriekse/archive/2013/09/23/usmt-5-in-the-configuration-manager-2012-task-sequence.aspx and is unable to migrate the computer name ,OU etc the three options of capture windows settings .My data is getting recovered but the association of the name in AD and SCCM changes and the new name MININT-PPXXXX is named for the refresh PC. I am not starting the tasksequence from software center instead I am suspending the bitlocker manually and then doing a F12 PXE boot and selecting my refresh offline TS.Now i am getting the data but windows settings like name and other three options are not getting migrated. I know network setting cannot be migrated but i have read on technet that windows settings can be captured in winpe Any help would be appreciated .Thanks
  13. Hi everyone , i have question and problem with my sccm , Recently i noticed that after someone from our helpdesk team deploy an new image we encountered in policy agent issue . our process is very simple : take a new computer . we perform boot PXE and deploy image (Task sequence ) i noticed that in my task sequence there is a task that have to install configmgr (client /agent ) on computer . it's working well but why the agent do not get the policy ? or why in "Configuration Manager" i see only 6 tabs ? the issue happen only in new computer , i have workaround it's uninstall agent using "ccmsetup.exe -uninstall " and then install remotely using SCCM console "install agent" to specific system (computer ) it's very strange and annoying , as i know my sccm have to speak with the all agent automatically in 60 minute , but when the new computer push the all policy ? all new client can ping to sccm server and the firewall is in turn off + NSLOOUK from client to SCCM working ,. thank you
  14. Hello everyone! I've got a task to create a query to show the computers which has more then one installation of Java on it (sometimes Java doesn't updates correctly). So I quickly created a query: select distinct SMS_R_System.Name, SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.DisplayName, SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.Version from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS on SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.DisplayName like "Java % Update %" order by SMS_R_System.Name And this query shows me all the computers where Java installed and I can see among them computers that I need. But how to select only computers where SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.DisplayName like "Java % Update %" >1? I think COUNT will be the best for this task but I've didn't find how to correctly use it here. I've tried different constructions but always got an error sign. Can anyone help me? Thank you

  16. Hi I'm having some problems installing drivers for Windows 10 when using OSD. If I run my Task Sequence with no drivers all is good. Windows installs and programs too. If I try and include a driver package then the deployment fails. I've look at this thread http://deploymentresearch.com/Research/Post/443/Beyond-unsupported-Deploying-Windows-10-preview-including-drivers-with-ConfigMgr-2012-R2 but my MDT folder does not have the DISM folder. Also, I'm not sure what boot image I should be trying to get the files from? Can I take them from a Windows 10 install? Sorry for the noob type questions! Thanks Richard
  17. I have a scenario, where we have a CAS and 2 primary sites (A & B under the CAS. Will all the systems reporting as SCCM clients to primary site A, also show in the console for primary site B (though their assignation will be to primary site A) (based on the global data\site data logic under SQL replication)?
  18. Hello, I found the script below on an old TechNet forum post. I'm curious about the variables being used. Are they ConfigMgr variables or something the poster created? If they are known variables in ConfigMgr where can I find these values? Is there a documented list somewhere? Start-CMSoftwareUpdateDeployment -CollectionName $CollectionName -DeploymentType $DeploymentIntent -DeploymentName $DeployMentName -DeploymentAvailableDay(Get-date) -DeploymentExpireTime (Get-Date) Thanks, Mike
  19. I am testing a deployment of Cisco AnyConnect with the VPN Profile capability in SCCM 2012 R2 but I am having issues getting this to work. I have the .xml file but when I try to import I get an error: Invalid VPN profile. Missing element "Name". Considering this profile was created using Cisco's Profile Editor I am at a loss here. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

  22. Hi, dear mates... Firstly, I would like to say thanks for many of the posts about SCCM2012 that have helped me to know better SCCM2012 and begin to understand it. Anyway, I'm still a rookie on this system. On the other hand I've several problems configuriying my SCCM environment. This is my scenario: I have all the infraestructure in one server, located on Azure. The server is only for admin SCCM 2012 R2 (version 5.0.8239.100, (with the hotfix KB3073015 installed -CU5 not applicable-). WS 2012 R2 and SQL2012. I need it ,basically, for admin the security and updates of 30 workgroup windows machines (Win7 pro and W embeded 7) that connect to internet via 3G. Now I'm working in a lab environment with the SCCM server and two machines (one with W7 and the other with WEmbedded 7. NOTE: As soon as I got the clients set-up, I had problems with Guid's duplication, so I have issued another client certificate, and currently both computers have its own client certificate, but the GUID duplication (after of permorming the recommended actions) hasn't solved, but I'll send another post about it) I've got to solve many problems about PKi infraestructure, finding out for just the ccmpsetup.exe parameters that I needed to setup the clients, etc... After I have solved many errors about MP, checking right all the prerequisites regarding the software needed (all about differential compression, .net Framework, ASP.NET 4.5, Visual c++ etc...), applicable hotfixes, reinstalling SCCM, IIS, Wsus, the clients, Check and configuration of Webdav, test the consitency of WMI ... test the access to ?mp_list and ?mpcert successfully etc... Anyway, I would need to fix the below errors, to be able to carry on with the sccm administration. MPSETUP.LOG ----> ok, without errors MPMSI.LOG... 23. I setup about 10 distribution new points that I cloned the content from the old dp and 4 of them have a content status of "distribution manager is waiting for package content to be prestaged". So I verified that the pkgx file is extracted to the new server by manually trying and it told me that the content was already present. On the monitoring node in SCCM it is still reporting as waiting for content to be prestaged. So I manually prestaged and extracted 1 pkgx file/application on one of the DP's and then it reported back successful that the content is there now. Is there a command or something similar I can do on the troublesome DP's that will send the content status to the main SCCM server so that it knows that the content is in fact on the DP? We have 100's off applications and I cant 1 by 1 manually extract all of these for each DP and we don't want to have traffic over the WAN. I have enabled the distribution point for prestaged content before the initial prestage/extraction so I don't think that is the issue. Somehow I think its not reporting back the actual content status. Thank you for any help you may have.

  25. Hi everyone, Having a bit of trouble trying to find a concrete answer on this with my Googlefu. We've got a handful of applications that are using .vbs or .bat files for installs. What we're finding is that using the "script installer" deployment type appears to run everything in user context - regardless of whether or not 'install for system' is used. Is this the usual behaviour for the script installer deployment type? Some of the installs are failing as they are running under user context and don't have the rights to do what's needed. Our mandate is to have everything loaded as an application so creating a package is not an option. Thanks
