  1. We have a scenario in our organisation where we want to map a huge lot of environment variables for specific machines. Each and every variables are unique to each machine. There are around 6000 variables which needs to be mapped to 6000 machines. Is there any way we can handle it through SCCM ?
  2. Hello WN community! I have a bit of stumper I was hoping to get some feedback on! Let me know what you think... Scenario: We're running SCCM 2012 now for a little over a year, problem free. We've noticed however, that randomly (about 10 out of 1000 clients) the SCCM Client is reporting that the PKI certificate is none. What's stranger still, is that in the ClientIDManagerStartup.log, it doesn't appear to have an issue detecting and selecting the PKI certificate... Directly after the client selects the Cert, the ClientIDManagerStartup.log fills up with this repeating for ages I have ran a repair on the client, same result. I checked to see if perhaps the clients were stuck in provisioning mode, and they're not. Sort of at a loss of what to check next! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  3. Hello all, I've been using SCCM OSD to image machines for about 2 years. Suddenly last month, it stopped working. I assumed that we had a corrupted driver or boot wim. I re-created both the x64 and x86 boot wims, downloaded the newest WinPE 10 drivers, etc. and am still having the issue. When doing PXE boot, I"m getting the failure at preparing network connections. When loading PE from a usb, it loads but then says "There are no task sequences available for this computer." If I do an F8 , ipconfig shows an IP and diskpart shows the drives, which I assume means that I have the correct drivers. Fwiw- I've tried just about every driver combination that I can think of, to no avail. To make matters worse, our MS premier support contract ended the day before it broke and we're waiting for our legal dept. to sign the new enterprise agreement, so I have no MS support. I'm including the smsts.log from one of the machines and wireshark packet traces from a mirrored port for both PXE and USB PE boots. Any assistance is greatly appreciated, as I need to start pushing Win10 out by the end of the month. SCCMPXE-WINPE-Fail-1.pcapng SCCMUSB-WINPE-Fail-1.pcapng smsts-z230.log
  4. Hi, Can anyone help me to create a collection for all the machines with a particular file (nlwnsck.dll) in a specific path (c:\Windows\System\) Thank you,
  5. Good morning, Long time reader, first time poster. I have an issue with SCCM and clients already added to ADUC. If i build a computer with a name not already in ADUC the task sequence executes correctlt and the machine joins the domain for example KS-Win10-V5. If i use the exact same task sequence and attempt to build a machine already in ADUC (for example ks-wk-adm-01) it executes the task sequence but fails to join the domain... I have added the netbootguid to the machine in ADUC and updated the System discovery in SCCM and this has made no difference. Does anyone have any idea what i could try? I've got a site with 500 devices to rebuild next week. Thank you in advance. If you need any more info let me know. Mark
  6. I have a custom role, that allows users to install clients on new computers, however, I also need them to run a system Discovery on demand, I can not find this in RBA. Does anyone know where it might fall under?
  7. I currently have multiple customsettings.ini files that assign computer names based on location + asset tag. I'm wondering if there is a way to have only one file that can do the same when selecting the location from a front end HTA. PS: I can't use the default gateway as the computers are imaged from the same location. Thanks,
  8. Hi guys has anyone ever seen during monthly updates a error of 'license terms could not be downloaded' on a couple of machines . I got this error on 13 of 200 machines
  9. I am currently working with a small environment with roughly 200 clients. I have 2 servers at 2 physical locations, the secondary server is only assigned the following roles: Site System, Management Point, Distribution Point, Component Server. I am trying to deploy software updates to one device collection in particular which contains 4 RDS Servers. The updates show up in software center on 1 out of 4 of these servers, however they do not on the other three. The configuration of these servers are identical, they are all in the same IP range and AD site and therefore in the same boundary. I have noticed that the 3 clients which don't receive the updates have errors in their LocationServices.log file, here is an example: Current AD site of machine is REDACTED LocationServices 11/07/2017 12:54:42 96388 (0x17884) Current AD site of machine is REDACTED LocationServices 11/07/2017 12:54:43 96388 (0x17884) 4 assigned MP errors in the last 10 minutes, threshold is 5. 10. Currently working on a Windows 10 project , I want to get your input on how you distribute your image to the different departments: same image for all users , based on application security groups, or different task sequences for each department. Please share how you proceed and what do you recommend.

  12. Hi guys i was wondering if anyone had success with a in place server 08r2 to server 2016 upgrade then followed by a in place upgrade of sccm 2012r2 to current branch on the same machine we currently have our primary on a server 2008r2 it we want to upgrade to current branch I know you can do a side by side migration but I was wondering about a in place upgrade
  13. I was wondering how to delete old machines from termed people that are still in AD from SCCM . Does aged machines got dropped at some point? I hope that makes sense
  14. We are running into an issue with some brand new laptops that they are stopping in the middle of the task sequence with the error Page_Fault_In_NonPaged_Area. This happens at different times during the TS. Sometimes it is right after the Domain Join step when it is Initializing the SCCM Client. Sometimes it happens during the next step in our process, which is enabling .Net 3.5. I tried moving some of the steps around the TS to isolate the issue, but it doesn't seem to be a certain step causing it. We put one of our old laptops in the same collection and everything works fine. The new laptops have 8GB RAM. 4GB that came with it and 4GB that we added. We have tried with just one of the 4GB (tried with each of them by themselves) modules and the same problem. We have tried with SSD and HDD. Same problem using both types of drives. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! I have attached 2 of the smsts logs. smsts1.log is from the _SMSTaskSequence Folder in C:\ smsts2.log is from C:\windows\CCM\logs\ smsts1.log smsts2.log
  15. Hi, I created a USMT Restore task sequence and set to to restore the profiles that connected in the last 14 days. However when it runs it restores all the profiles, here is a Screenshot. Any idea ?
  16. Hi please help I'm pulling my hair out! After imaging a client with Windows 10 using SCCM and MDT integrated task sequence the region and language keeps defaulting to US region and language. I have altered the MDT unattended XML file to add EN-GB as this: SetupUILanguage> <UILanguage>en-US</UILanguage> </SetupUILanguage> <InputLocale>en-GB</InputLocale> <SystemLocale>en-GB</SystemLocale> <UILanguage>en-US</UILanguage> <UserLocale>en-GB</UserLocale> I have also added these to the customsetting.ini file: SkipLocaleSelection=YES KeyboardLocale=0809:00000809 UserLocale=en-GB UILanguage=en-GB SkipTimeZone=YES TimeZoneName=GMT Standard Time The image was captured with the UK region and language setting set for all users in Audit Mode. And still after deployment the language is set to US!!! I also get "something went wrong" before login after OSD. Any help would be much appreciated
  17. Hi, We have tried to install KB4019926 in our SCCM environment (Server 2012 R2, Current Branch SCCM 2012), but it has failed at the "Upgrade ConfigMgr database" step. All pre-requisites passed OK before installing. We have attempted one retry after a reboot of the server, which has failed at the same point. I can find plenty of threads to other issues with the upgrade ConfigMgr Database, but not that exactly match my situation. 18. HI Just wanted peoples opinion on how I am currently doing my Ref image, At the moment I do this in a standalone MDT/WSUS, capture then import into sccm where I add business apps during TSQ, is this still the preferred way. but it means I have to maintain WSUS as well as MDT. Or should I be doing I in sccm and capturing, or even with an MDT interrogated task seq and capture? Are there any issues in which the context it creates the image with i.e. Administrator (MDT) System (SCCM) thanks Rob
  19. I've been having some trouble getting newly imaged computers to accept a new name during OSD using the "OSDComputerName" variable. First, some history...I had a fully working SCCM environment that worked perfectly with OSD. Then our cert authority's root cert expired, and everything went to hell. I had to rebuild SCCM and migrated/exported/imported all objects, including images and task sequences. That's where we are today. This is SCCM 1702 with full version 5.00.8498.1711, with MDT integrated (though I have 0 experience doing anything too complex with MDT). OSD is working, and for known devices the computer is keeping the computer name through use of the "_SMSTSMachineName" variable (see attachment sccm1.png) For Unknown computers, during OSD I am successfully prompted for the "OSDComputerName" variable, and I can plug it in just fine. The variable is part of the unknown computers collection (see sccm2.png). When OSD completes, the computer receives a "MININT-_______" name and not the name I've given it. On the old SCCM server, the computers would successfully accept the new name. This is the result in multiple task sequences (we have 3 copies of the task sequence...one for Win10, one for win7, and a win7 one with customization for a specific purpose). Per this article I have recreated the task sequence from scratch, but got the same result: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/a8d05720-946c-4960-b978-c517cb56310c/osdcomputername-not-working?forum=configmanagerosd I have NOT captured a new WIM, I may try that shortly, though I doubt it's the issue. The task sequence is deployed as "Available" and not "Required." We have a simple configuration with 1 site and 1 DP. I've attached an smsts.log file for one of these deployments. I don't even see acknowledgement of the computer name I entered when prompted (which begins with SEIU- )I'm totally stumped for next troubleshooting steps and would appreciate any feedback.smsts.log

  22. Hello, I just applied June monthly updates via SCCM 1702, when the updates were done installing, I noticed new options in the Power option : "Update and Restart" & "Update and Shutdown". We choosed "Restart" (only), but still the computer applied the updates. any idea why would it apply them even though we didn't select "Update and Restart" ? Thanks,
  23. Here is the scenario: This ConfigMgr environment has a complex configuration with 2 different SQL servers in play. ▪ Server 1: ConfigMgr Primary Site server ▪ Server 2: server running SQL Server Database Engine role and configured as the ConfigMgr Site Database server ▪ Server 3: server running SQL Server Reporting Services role pointing to the SCCM DB created on Server 2 when attempting to install the Reporting Services point, the following error was encountered: Unable to locate any configured SRS instances on the server. Verify SRS is installed, accessible, and correctly configured. The “Reporting Services server instance” is blank. First, Microsoft do support this configuration? And second, any idea what could be the configuration that has to be done?
  24. Hi, I'm struggling to find a definative answer to a question. Is it possible to rebuild a machine via an OSD task sequence within SCCM 2012 R2? Is SCCM working correctly in that if I have previously built a machine via a task sequence, then try to rebuild that machine it does not see that same task sequence and therefore will not be able to be rebuilt? I have a sequence deployed to all unknown computers. The 1st time it builds fine, if I then try to rebuild, it will not see the task sequence. I am assuming as it's no longer an unknown computer. Part of the sequence places the computer in a specified OU, it seems that sometimes it will see the sequence, sometimes it will not. I am using a usb build key with not pxe boot server. Is it expected behaviour that you should delete the computer from SCCM and then rebuild, is there a work around to allow support staff who don't have access to SCCM to rebuild machines? Any help appreciated.
  25. Morning All, I have a Windows 10 Task Sequence for a standalone laptop which I need to encrypt with Bitlocker as part of the OSD build. The machine encrypts with bitlocker fine but I cannot find a way to export the recovery key either to a network share (with appropriate credentials) or the local disk (to then backup from the device) during the task sequence. Wondering if anyone has managed to get this working or if has to remain a manual step, i'd appreciate any help/advice? thanks in advance,
