  1. I am currenty replacing SCCM 2007 with SCCM 2012. Because of that, I have two fully working environments. Performing a new OSD with a machine directly from the factory is easy in SCCM2012: I simply import the compuer, with it's desired hostname, and the MAC adress of the machine, and point towards a specific device collection, allowing the task sequence to run. (I do not use unknown computer support in the 2012 enviroment, but we did in the previous 2007 environment). Performing OSD that way, works like a charm! I can even deploy the SCCM 2012 agent to a SCCM 2007 machine, making it communicating fully, then making the system a member of the very same osd-collection, in that way triggering the OSD via PXE or from Windows in the Software Center. I'm using Option 66 and 67 in my DHCP, on specific scopes. Recently, I've been trying to educate my collegues, in how to use the SCCM 2012 console. A collegue of mine simply asked: "what's the easiest way to reinstall a computer, that is currently in the SCCM 2007 system?" Well, as I have the "Active Directory System Discovery" discovery method enabled, I can actually see the objects from our AD under devices in SCCM 2012. Deploying the SCCM 2012 agent to one of those object would work, and then making it a member of the collection. But that's a bit unnecessary, right? So, I just tried to rightclick on the object, which currently says Client=No (as the machine is a member of the sccm 2007, or none at all), choose "add selected items" -> "add selected items to existing device collection", choosing my osd-collection. Seems legit? Trying to PXE a machine gives me the following: "CLIENT MAC ADDR: BLABLABLA GUID: BLABLABLA CLIENT IP: 172.X.X.X MASK: 255.255.255.0 DHCP IP: 172.X.X.X GATEWAY IP: 172.X.X.X Downloaded WDSNBP... Architecture: x64 WDSNBP started using DHCP Referral. Contacting Server: MY SCCM WITH WDS (gateway: 172.x.x.x)... No responsde from Windows Deployment Services server. Launching pxeboot.com... Press F12 for network service boot." When pressing F12 I get this: "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer. 2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next". 3. Click "Repair your computer". If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. File: \Boot\BCD Status: 0xc000000f Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data." Any thoughts on this? Seem like doing a re-OSD the easy way, is an impossible way. Thanks Johan
  2. I was wondering if it's possible to use SCCM 2012 in a multidomain environment? We have several domains each in their own forests but with the possibility of network connectivity. Would it be sufficient to set serveral Active-Directory Forests, with their own set of credentials + their own Boundaries and Boundary Groups? How is this done best-practice-wise? The idea is to use SCCM2012 as a tool for keeping servers up to date via WSUS. Would that be doable? Are there issues we could run in to by using this? What would one have to do in the domain beeing added? (Which doesn't contain the sccm2012 server(s)) Edit: What requirements are there when it comes to trusts when doing this? In my lab I'm now running a one-way trust, allowing the SCCM2012 server full access to the "System" container in forest number 2. Would this be correct?
  3. I am managing clients using PKI over HTTPS. the problem i am facing is that some clients although on seperate domains or workgroups may have the same netbios(hostname). because of this they fight for a space within SCCM admin console, and invariably do not appear. e.g CLIENT1 - netbios name (DOMAIN) CLIENT2 - netbios name (DOMAIN) both are completly different (GUID, MAC, IP, DOMAIN or WORKGROUP) but have problems co-existing. what is the solution? i cannot rename the hosts, and why cannot they co-exist if all other data is different...
  4. Hi All, I have been reading through this forum quite a bit, including using the guides available to setup a couple of SCCM installs (firstly with 2007, and now with 2012). My current issue is with getting PXE to work. In my SMSPXE.log file when trying to PXE boot a machine, i get the following messages: sending with winhttp failed; 80072efe SMSPXE 30/10/2012 3:38:24 PM 1588 (0x0634) Failed to get information for MP: https://FQDN. 80072efe. Unspecified error (Error: 80004005; Source: Windows) SMSPXE 30/10/2012 3:39:35 PM 1588 (0x0634) I've replaced the server name with FQDN, but you can see the errors I am having. Some things I have tried are: removing and re-adding the Distribution Point changing the date on some of the certificates (to hopefully generate new ones). removed and re-installed the WDS role. rebooted. restarted WDS service. PXE booting has worked once for me, but when it did the task sequence i was trying to run (build and capture) failed, but before I had a chance to look into that, PXE stopped working. I have tried this on a couple of different machines, and at the client end, I get the following message: Status: 0xc000000f Info: An error occured while attempting to read the boot configuration data. I am at my wits end trying to get this to work, I have searched online, and the only solution it looks to be is to rebuld the server, which I really do not want to do. (if i do though, i will wait for SP1). If I haven't provided enough info, please let me know, and I will be sure to post it. Thanks in advance!
  5. Ok I have been successfully installing OS via PXE w/o an issue. The issue I am having is restoring user profile in the deployment. I created 2 TS for Windows 7 x64 and x86 as a Refresh/ReImage of PC which should capture the user profile and restore it orignally. When I deployed it to my 2 test Laptops I was able to run the Refresh via the Software Center GUI. Worked GREAT!! So since these 2 user Laptops fails to install the Client I will be performing these via PXE Boot>Win7Refresh Deployment. However on my test laptops it fails to copy and restore the user profiles that I setup as a test. Any thoughts or what I might be doing something wrong?
  6. Hi - im after a bit of advice. Ive got a hub and spoke setup of SCCM2012 - single site, multiple distribution points, one per IP subnet. But im having a bit of a funny where for example, clients on a subnet called STM are choosing to use the management point of a different subnet! Ive checked all of my configuration settings / boudaries etc. Does anyone have any ideas?
  7. Hi All I am very new to SCCM 2012 and currently looking into deploying Win2008 R2 via boot (we have chosen not to go for pxe as we dont have DHCP enabled). I have read many sites which mention we must build and capture the image - im a bit confused as for a boot image how is this done? if anyone can point me to a link or youtube vid will be grateful. many thanks for all help in advance. Kabir
  8. I'm trying to deploy a image and capture task in SCCM2012. After the pxe boot, I get the error that the task sequence cannot be run because the program files cannot be located on the distibution point. After looking at the difference suggestions on here (and a few google searches), I made sure that my DP was assigned to a Boundary Group and have updated the distribution points to make sure the files have been pushed out. I have looked at the permissions on the shares to make sure that everyone has read access to them. Any other suggestions?
  9. Hi All I am trying to push a client install from a primary site Server i have but for some reason i am getting an error in connecting to HTTPS when i am not using this. I can connect to my site server by removing the s in the HTTPS but not sure where it is getting the https connection string from. 11. Hi All! I currently have a simple setup in my lab with CM12 and have had a couple of CMAgents installed on a certain amount of clients that are no longer Active nor alive. Therefore I get loads of errors on mux files and also on parts where CM tries to install the agent on clients that are no longer alive. I have tried to set the InstallFlag in maintenance and googling around but can't get to getting a Clean and stable Environment. Any tips from the coach here? PS. As this is my lab, setting short values for heartbeat, polling intervals etc is not an issue. DS.

  14. Hello! My standalone primary server is administrating two classrooms where it is used for OSD and distributing big (50+ GB) packages for configuration. The problem i am having is that old packages deleted from the SCCM still remains on the Distribution Point (E:\SCCMContentLib) where it takes up way to much space. Is there anyway i can clean up the distribution point?
  15. Hi everybody After I have downloaded the first set of updates, subsequently set up the first Software Update Group and assigned it to a Device Collection I defined beforehand, I am currently struggling with the following issue: Not even one single Software Update in the Software Update Group is shown as "Required" in the Console. The clients in the Device Collection are definitely not having these updates installed already. Which should put the status of all the Updates to "Required". To me, this makes absolutely no sense since applications can be deployed without any problems. So it's not basically a communication issue between the client(s) and the backend. 16. After the Client is installed on one of our machines, around 2 days later the client check result comes back as failed as in the screenshot. Why would it not be able to find a supported version of ccmsetup?
  17. Hi, Maybe a stupid question but can I remove the packages once converted to the new application model in SCCM2012 Thanks
  18. Hi, I'm having issue using custom detection scripts. More specifically how to exit the detection script to say detected or not. My application is a script that will delete two desktop icons. My detection script checks if and icon exists and if it does increment a count. If the count is 0 that is no icons exist then I want to exit the script and have the application detected as installed. This is what I ran with ... Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") File1="C:\Users\Public\Desktop\HP TRIM Desktop.lnk" File2="C:\Users\Public\Desktop\HP TRIM Queue Processor.lnk" Dim count count = 0 If objFSO.FileExists(File1) then count= count + 1 End If If objFSO.FileExists(File2) then count = count + 1 End If If count = 0 then WScript.Quit(0) End If The logs showed the application not detected so ran my Script correctly. Then when it checked after the install it still showed as undetected. Can anyone explain how I can exist my scripts correctly to show presence of an application? Cheers,
  19. Can anyone point me in the right direction to deploy Lync 2010 client via CM 2012? Does I need to extract the MSI from the .exe or can I deploy the exe? How do I do this? Thanks in advance
  20. Hey Guys, first of all I have to say that I'm completely new to SCCM and at the moment I'm planning to install it. We need it in our company to deploy anti-malware software, so the main point why we want to use it is the "Endpoint Protection Role". The clients where it should be deployed to aren't in an AD, they're just connected via VPN to our company-network because they are spread in the whole country.. What's my point? I think I need some help. I read along this forum to get some knowledge but still feels like a noob. We have up to 400 clients to whom it should be deployed to, so I think a Primary-Site stand-alone should be okay? When I'm right, we just need a Win2k8R2 Server to install SCCM2012. What about the SQL-Server? Can it be installed on the same server or do we need another one? Due to the fact that the clients aren't in the AD, do we need to extend the schema? Thanks for your help!
  21. Hi, I just installed sccm2012 on Windows2008R2 and a remote SQL server (2008R2). My problem is I can't get the Package Conversion Tool to work. Everytime I run Convert Package (after analyzing) I get an error. (see SMSProv.log and PMTrace.log) I tried different packages (manual and automatic status). None of it will work. On my testenvironment it worked perfectly. As far as I can see my SQL security is also correct. SCCM is installed on a separate instance in SQL. Can someone help. Thanks PcmTrace.log SMSProv.log
  22. Hello everyone, I just realized that in my SCCM2012 RC1 lab, all the applications that I've created do not show up in the application catalog website (http://sccmServer/CMApplicationCatalog). These applications do show up in Software Center client though. Can someone point me on a direction to troubleshoot this?
  23. Hello I have integrated MDT2012 into our SCCM 2007 environment but i have noticed a problem, in the UDI settings i have set it to "use existing computer name" but when i run the my TS using in PXE it doesn't pick up the existing name. Does anyone know why or what i am doing wrong Note the previous version(2010) picked up the name thanks
  24. Hello, when setting permissions in AD , once you have created the system management object and you delegate control, do you have to add the SCCM computer account or can you just add a group (which the SCCM server can be a member of). I added a group today but SCCM doesnt appear to have the right permissions to publish. thanks

How can I solve this issue? The server will not accept a connection. You should verify that the certificate is correctly installed. See "Configuring Certificate for Use by SSL" in Books Online. How can I re-create the certificate? Is there any chance I can do this from my CA ?
