  1. I'm having an issue where my Windows 10 task sequence loses it's DNS servers right after the "Setup Windows and Configuration manager" Step reboot. Steps taken so far: - Downloaded all network drivers for this pc model and added them to Driver package and boot image. - Ran "ipconfig /all" and it returned good IP and correct DNS servers during winpe pxe boot - After " Setup Windows and Configuration manager" step reboot I ran "ipconfig /all" again and the dns server IPs have been changed to older (decommissioned) DNS IPs. Can no longer ping MP FQDN. (I can manually change the DNS IPs back to correct IP via CMD prompt and TS continues successfully so not a drivers issue.) - Looked at logs and I see this entry: DNS server search order: 172.x.x.x,172.x.x.x I HAVE REPLACED THE IPS ADDRESSES WITH Xs OSDNetSettings 8/3/2017 9:48:18 AM 1288 (0x0508) The important part being: "DNS server search order:" is getting set to some old IPs. I don't set an unattend.xml in my task sequence, where is it getting this file and these IPs from? How do I change this?
  2. I am having problems with getting some OOBE Settings in unattend.xml applied to my image. After spending a week troubleshooting it, I am noticing that during my OSD task sequence execution, not all the settings of my MDT Settings Package's unattend.xml are being copied over to the C:\windows\panther\unattend\unattend.xml. My Setup: - OSD Image Built and Captured using MDT 2010 Update 1 - W7 SP1 x64 with French language package added and all Windows Updates as of June 2014 downloaded directly from Windows Update via the MDT TS before it was sysprep and captured as wim. Used VMware Workstation to build the image, no drivers. - SCCM lab environment is 2007 SP2 R2 with MDT 2010 Update 1 integration, also tried with MDT 2012 Update 1 integration with same result. - SCCM-MDT Zero touch TS used. Nothing changed in MDT Toolkit Package. - MDT Settings package unattend.xml modified the OOBE settings section to pass language settings from Task Sequence as below: <HideEULAPage>true</HideEULAPage> <NetworkLocation>Work</NetworkLocation> <ProtectYourPC>3</ProtectYourPC> <SkipMachineOOBE>true</SkipMachineOOBE> <SkipUserOOBE>true</SkipUserOOBE> <InputLocale>%OSDInputLocale%</InputLocale> <SystemLocale>%OSDSystemLocale%</SystemLocale> <UILanguageFallback>%OSDUILanguageFallback%</UILanguageFallback> <UserLocale>%OSDUserLocale%</UserLocale> <UILanguage>%OSDUILanguage%</UILanguage> - The values for these variables are in the TS and I've verified that they can be read by the unattend.xml. What happens is after the image has been applied and Setup Windows and ConfigMgr step runs. I hit F8 and check the unattend.xml copied to C:\Windows\panther\unattend location. The file doesn't have some of the settings from my original file. The settings I passed in specialize pass got copied but oobeSystem wasn't. <OOBE> <NetworkLocation>Work</NetworkLocation> <ProtectYourPC>1</ProtectYourPC> <HideEULAPage>true</HideEULAPage> </OOBE> <SystemLocale>en-US</SystemLocale> Using the same Task sequence and MDT Settings package, I changed the OS image to another one I grabbed from the net with Windows updates until Nov 2013 only and it worked fine, all the settings were applied and xml in the panther folder had the correct settings. Just using VMware Workstation 10 for all my tests. Any ideas on how the panther unattend.xml is generated during OSD? What's wrong in my image that's causing this issue? I'm attaching my logs and unattend xml files for reference. Unattend - MDT Settings.XML unattend - copied in panther.xml DeploymentLogs.zip

  4. Hi, I am having problem with deploying Windows 7 prof ent. where OS is en-US and keyboard input is pl-PL (Polish). Situation: As an Company policy we need to deploy Windows 7 prof. ent. eng. version, and locally we are able to chose local keyboard input settings. Meaning da-DK, de-DE, en-US og pl-PL. I have created my unattend.xml files in Windows System Image Manager, and made the change to OOBESystem. I have follow the excellent guide from Windows noob.com @ URL: http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1660-customising-windows-7-deployments-part-1/ Everything seem to with da-DK, de-DE, en-US as keyboard input. I have testet it a couple of time, and they are OK. Problem: My problem with the pl-PL keyboard input is that after deploying Windows via SCCM it keeps telling me i have deployed de-DE, with en-US as systemlocale. But I am expecting it to be en-US. I am well aware of the attached file says everything needs to be in polish pl-PL, but that doesn't change anything. It keeps telling de-DE with en-US as systemlocale. If I change it to: <InputLocale>pl-PL</InputLocale> <SystemLocale>en-US</SystemLocale> <UILanguage>en-US</UILanguage> <UILanguageFallback>en-US</UILanguageFallback> <UserLocale>pl-PL</UserLocale> Stille problem with the result as de-DE as inputlocale and en-US as systemlocale. What am I doing woring? Could any one help? Regards Kim pl-PL_unattendWin7x32.xml
  5. I'm trying to use a unattended xml file in my task sequence (in apply operating system). What i want my unattended installation to do is to select english user interface version of windows 7 x64, but with norwegian keyboard etc. I have to do this because my task sequence requires me to choose between english and norwegian version of windows, but when i do it manually (even when choosing english version), i still get norwegian keyboard. The file i use is: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <unattend xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend"> <settings pass="oobeSystem"> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-International-Core" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <UILanguage>en-US</UILanguage> <InputLocale>nb-NO</InputLocale> <SystemLocale>nb-NO</SystemLocale> <UILanguageFallback>nb-NO</UILanguageFallback> <UserLocale>nb-NO</UserLocale> </component> </settings> <cpi:offlineImage cpi:source="wim://37e-sccm/sources/os/captures/win7entx64-office2010-cmclient.wim#2" xmlns:cpi="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:cpi" /> </unattend> I can set the UILanguage to nb-NO, i then get norwegian keyboard, but also the user interface is norwegian, which i do not want. Thanks in advance
  6. I am at my wits end here. I have tried everything I can think of and I have had no luck with this. I am trying to get my Task Sequence to modify the time zone setting based on a Collection Variable setting I have created. Here's how it works. 1. Upon bootup, the Task Sequence Wizrd Appears, and the user selects the Taks sequence 2. Next they are prompted for the Task Sequence Variable to edit. The available options are: a. languageValue b. OSDcomputerName c. regionValue All of these variables work great, but my problem is I want the TimeZone to adjust based on the regoinValue that is entered. Here is my unattend.xml file <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <unattend xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend"> <settings pass="oobeSystem"> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-International-Core" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.micro...nfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/20...Schema-instance"> <InputLocale>%OSDInputLocale%</InputLocale> <SystemLocale>%OSDSystemLocale%</SystemLocale> <UILanguage>%OSDUILanguage%</UILanguage> <UILanguageFallback>%OSDUILanguageFallback%</UILanguageFallback> <UserLocale>%OSDUserLocale%</UserLocale> </component> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.micro...nfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/20...Schema-instance"> <OOBE> </OOBE> <TimeZone>%OSDTimeZone%</TimeZone> </component> </settings> <cpi:offlineImage cpi:source="wim:c:/sccm/osdeploy/win732enterprisesp1.wim#1" xmlns:cpi="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:cpi" /> </unattend> Any help would be AWESOME!
  7. Hey, This is the 1st time i post here but I've been a visitor for quite some time, I was wondering if someone here might know something that i couldn't find an answer to over at technet forums, I'm trying to use "unattend.xml" to enable remote control using DART 7 Remote Connection tool during WinPE as demonstrated here: http://www.deploymentresearch.com/Blog/tabid/62/EntryId/36/Software-Assurance-Pays-Off-Remote-Connection-to-WinPE-during-MDT-SCCM-deployments.aspx The "unattend.xml" is residing in the root of the boot.wim - X:\Unattend.xml The first time the machine boots in to WinPE from PXE it uses this Unattend.xml and everything works great. However, if a step to restart the computer to the boot image assigned for the task sequence which is the same boot.wim then after the restart the original "Unattend.xml" will not be used, instead a different xml called "winpeunattend.xml" which is located at "C:\_SMSTaskSequence\WinPE\WinPEUnattend.xml" And that XML is being created "on the fly" or in runtime, when the TS is "Staging boot.wim" and the SMSTS.log will log: "Creating WinPE Answer File" and "Successfully saved ... C:\_SMSTaskSequence\WinPE\WinPEUnattend.xml" The task sequence is from SCCM 2007 R3 with SP2 and the Advertisement is Mandatory and configured as "Access content directly from Distribution Point". Anyone know how can i control this process to use the root located unattend.xml every time when WinPE loads? this is the link for the post on technet forum: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrosd/thread/c3e744a0-c784-46ab-9df1-eae7f8031de5?prof=required any help is much appreciated, Thanks
