  1. Hello, I've recently been given the task to oversee our SCCM 2012 R2 environment when the previous admin went off on leave. I have very little experience with SCCM but I had some device management experience. I've encountered a few problems. The one I'd like to discuss today, is that I do not know how to handle our Dell Venue 11 Pro 5130 and Venue 10 Pro 5055. They are tablets that have 64 bit architecture but can only run 32-bit Windows. If they are known devices there aren't any problems they pull the correct wim and the correct available Task Sequences appear, however when the device is unknown, the device downloads the correct 32-bit wim file but is being considered a 64-bit unknown device, and the task sequences that are deployed to the unknown x64 collection. So as a temporary fix I deployed the Venue task sequence to the unknown x64 collection, but now there are 2 boot images being deployed to the same collection, it's causing issues with some other x64 devices. I'm sorry if this isn't clear. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.
  2. So, I have about 2200 actual PC's that I manage, however it shows about 3500 "all systems" PC's with around 1300 Showing "All Systems - No Client". 98% of these PC's are not ping-able and show no host found in my RCT Recast tools add-on under ping collection. There are no records in AD for these, as well as DNS. As far as I can tell, I have little to none duplicate GUIDS after running every query under the sun. Has anyone seen such a thing? My discovery is set to only discover PC's that have been logged into within 30 days, same with parameters for the automatic aged removal. DNS scavenging is fairly aggressive. I cannot find where these extra systems are coming from if they don't exist anywhere in the environment or AD. I've deleted these extra Systems in SCCM, and they come back during the weekly Delta discovery, but not in the incremental discovery. I can give more specifics if necessary, but I thought I'd see if anyone else has seen something similar first. Thanks,
  3. Hi Guys! I'm wondering if someone could help me with a really frustrating issue I'm having with SCCM. I'll give you a quick of overview of the environment. - The Laptop we're using is brand new out of the box "HP Elitebook 755 G2" - We are trying to build a 64bit Windows 7 image on the Laptop and then Capture that image to use for the 20+ HP Books we have. - The Task Sequences have already been created and used on other machines so I'm fairly sure it will work once we get the drivers packaged into the TS.

Does the laptop have to have the SCCM Client on to be able to PXE Boot to the Task Sequence? Something I've never really been able to tell or not! Presumably this isn't the case given the option to "Enable Unknown Computer Support" I'm not entirely sure which direction I am meant to go from here, I've tried looking on various forums etc. but all seem to inform me to do the same thing which hasn't been effective for me. I'd really appreciate any tidbits of information too help me discover the answer! Thanks, Josh

  6. Were are using SCCM 2012. Our school district has over 4000 computers we reimage every summer. Our collections are setup per building and computer type. One major issue we have with SCCM is reimaging laptop computers after they have had a OSD successfully completed. We feel part of the reason laptop computers give us such grief is when you look at the properties of the laptops data record, it shows the wireless MAC address not the wired which you need for PXE. We start to reimage and then all of a sudden, PXE stops working for specific models. We have spent weeks if not months trying to resolve this. We came to the conclusion that if we just make the client unknown to SCCM we could PXE again (as unknown) and things would work perfect again. Boy was I wrong. One model we have is HP Probook 6445b, which in HP's infinite wisdom, that model all has the same SMGUID. Searching the web we came across the WDS registry entry of BannedGuids. This fixed the issue in the SMSPXE.log when the machine would PXE boot and say "device is in the database" then follow with "no advertisement found" after we deleted the client from SCCM. But now we get " device is not in the database" which we want, the client PXE boots WinPE and after entering the password on the task sequence wizard, it returns the message "there are no task sequences available for this computer." We definitely have a TS assign to unknown computers. Is there some way to remove all traces of a client's record from the system center database? Is there a better solution that we just don't know about? Ultimately we would like to PXE boot any machine on our network and have a TS set up for "PXE and media only" for every OS image and driver package we use, and be able to deploy to known and unknown computers. Luckily we only have eight different models, and six different images for our district, with exceptions of course. Thanks in advance for any help and solutions. Bob Microcomputer Technical Support.
