  1. Hi all, I would like to know if anyone has come across the following behavior with SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 and Windows 7 please? We deploy app-v applications to user based collections using SCCM which is all fine until the user profile (which is stored locally on the thick device) is deleted either by Group Policy or an engineer. When the profile is deleted, the next time that user logs in, the applications never get re-installed. I have tried doing an Application deployment evaluation cycle lots of times but this doesnt work. I can see the appdiscovery.log reports that the application "is not installed" but nothing else happens, nothing happens in the appenforce.log for example. When i go into software center it shows under the Installed Software tab that those applications have been installed and the install date refers back to before the profile was deleted! When this has happened to a user i have asked them to log out, i log in as admin and then delete the profile (again) by using Advanced System Settings, reboot the device but same thing happens. I have tried to carry out a repair to the CCM client on that device but problem persists. I'm at a complete loss, any help very much appreciated.
  2. Hi, We have had serious issues with deploying app-v applications to our VDI machines. Most of these have been solved by updating to the recent SP2 for SCCM (R2 SP1) and App-V 5 SP3, and some other minor tweaks. However it still takes to much time for all applications to be available. Our environment consists of: SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 Horizon View 5.3 Windows 7 x64 VDI clients App-V 5.0 SP3 When a user logs on to a vdi, it takes about 1-1,5 minute after the desktop is available before SCCM starts deploying user/group assigned applications. This is about a minute too long, but usable. However, usually only 1 or 2 applications are listed in Software Center and get installed. To get the rest of the applications, the user either has to wait between 10 to 60 minutes before SCCM continues with the other applications, or the user has to trigger the application deployment action via the configmgr control panel resulting in installation of the remaining apps within minutes. I have been looking at the log files but I just cannot see why it waits so long. Using policyspy from the configmgr toolkit, I can see that all the advertisements are listed under the requested tab. So the client should know there are more apps available. What I do see, is that SCCM does not see the VDI clients as a floating nonpersistent VDI: Machine Changes Persisted = Yes. Not sure if that has any influence on deployement speed. Any ideas? Where to look, what to set? Thx, Michel PS. One of the highlights of SP2 was faster app-v application deployment, but I have no idea how to get that working...
  3. Hello all, do you know some good learning ressources for App-V? Like blogs, videos and so on. Thanks
  4. Hello, I am hoping for a little help. I manage OSD for a SCCM 2007 infrastructure. When a client requests software, they are added to the correct collection. The collection adversities the software install. Once the install is completed, the clients are put in a security group within AD. It is pretty standard and has worked very well for us. We just rolled out our first App-V package and we are having a little bit of trouble. If I add a machine to the app-v collection, they will get the advertisement and the count-down to install the app. The software will install fine and remain in their “run advertised programs” list. When the client reimages, the advertisement comes back to “run advertised programs” list but never start the install countdown. The client would not know they have software to run unless they go into “run advertised programs” and manually run it. I *think* if I dump the machine from all collections during a re-image, it would then readvertise the app-v packages when SCCM and AD sync up. Does that make sense? Does anybody have any ideas on how to script this? Please let me know if I need to post any more info. Thanks in advance for all the ideas!
  5. Building an environment as I type this, but for planning I would like to know the following in advance. With SCCM 2012 managing App-V packages is there an option to pre-load the package into the cache at time of deployment (preferably in the OSD or a short time after)? Running in a wireless environment we try to pre-load all packages to reduce wait times. Currently we achieve this through copying a zipped archieve of the cache onto notebooks as part of the OSD. I am hoping there is a better alternative in the new version.
  6. I have an App-V package I created for testing (MS Project 2007). I placed two machines in the collection for that software. One machine receives the application without issue, the other machine appears to successfully run the app but the icons never show up on the desktop or in the start menu. The only difference between the two machines is I initially tested a previous MS Project 2007 package on the one not working properly. Is it possible that there is some residual information somewhere messing up the new package? RAP shows last run as successful. Below is the VirtualApp.log from the machine that does NOT get the icons. Last Successful Run: Removal of original test package, there were apparently errors:
