  1. Hey guys Got a new machine, to image. Imported all the drivers as usual, and the network driver was already in the boot image from an earlier model that uses the exacy same network driver. ( already double checked this to ) Turned off secure boot in the Bios, and attempted to pxe boot into the Task Sequence window. The machine reboots right before it manages to bring up the task sequence window. Looking at the smsts.log it display the error in the subject of this post Did a F8 before it rebooted the second time round and issuing an ipconfig shows no IP address. It just displays Windows Ip Configuration. The network drivers are in the boot image so not sure what else to do here? The machine is a Lenovo M910z (10NU)
  2. Good afternoon fellows! I'm currently struggling with an issue trying to get our Win 10 task sequence to take off. Just for background info, this task sequence works just fine on all other models that we have except this Acer Switch Alpha 12 tablet we're testing. Smsts.log is attached. -Problem is this: Boot the device into WinPE, select the desired task sequence, it begins to download the boot image and then fails. -Noteworthy errors: Failed to install boot image. Unspecified error (Error: 80004005; Source: Windows) Failed to install WinPE. Code(0x80004005) -Error log interpretation: Going through the smsts.log and looking around I thought this might be telling me that possible the boot image didn't have a driver for the SSD built into the tablet. -What I've done so far: Diskpart/format the drive with UEFI. Received and uploaded AHCI drivers from Acer into the boot image assigned to the task sequence/boot image. Looking forward to any and all input. Thanks! Jake smsts.log
  3. Hello Folks, Long time Windows Noob fan, first time poster... I have a question about a Task Sequence in SCCM with MDT... So when creating a TS via MDT, you'll have that nice wizard that helps you out and I could not find anything that would define when to create a new XYZ Package and when to reuse it or not reuse it in another SCCM MDT Task Sequence... Create MDT Task Sequence > Boot Image Step > you have a choice to use an existing one or create a new one... Since I only have the stock SCCM Boot images, i do want to make an MDT boot image for x86 and x64... - Can I use these MDT Boot Images for another TS, if yes, when would i want to create another set of MDT Boot Images x86 and x64? Create MDT Task Sequence > MDT Package Step > you have a choice to use an existing or create a new one. When you create a new one, the folders at the given UNC Path look like as if it is a new deployment share which you would use for WorkBench. - Can I use this MDT Package for another TS, if yes, when would i want to create another set of MDT Packages? Also, what is the best practices for naming convention or organization? Create MDT Task Sequence > CustomSettings.ini Step > again, you have a choice to use an existing or create a new one. Since i dont have one, i'd create a new one but when would you want to reuse it and when would you want to create a brand new one? For all 3, i feel like if i make a new anything, i should make a new folder though i'm not quite sure what the best folder plan is for organization would be. Thank you for any help, i really do appreciate it!
  4. We just finished upgrading our SCCM Servers both our CAS and PS1 to SCCM 2012 R2 SP1. After the upgrade it seems that the new boot.wim file that is created is having issues. After the machine pxe boots and pulls down the wim file, it goes to windows is starting up then preparing network connections and then black screens and restarts. I opened up an F8 command prompt and pulled the SMSTS.log and I see an error during the TSMBootStrap.exe step. The error is Failed to download pxe variable file ... PxeGetPxeData failed with .... I have attached our SMSTS.LOG file. I verified that i have network connectivity by running IP config and then I was also able to ping our MP. I thought it might be driver related but I have tested from different dell models, Dell 9020, E3340, 7010, etc. and they all have the same problem. Any ideas/suggestions? smsts.log
  5. Hi community, I'm quite stuck here and cannot find a solution for my problem. I've just added a new boot image (Win7x64) and all I want to do is "add" drivers to the boot image. So I went to - System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Operating System Deployment / Drivers right clicked the driver and selected add to boot image. But I cannot select a boot image because the list below is just plain empty although I've added boot images (Win7x64 enterprise (Selected the boot.wim image 2 (Microsoft Windows Setup x64)) - this image is deployed and PXE Deployment is enabled (in the boot image properties). Am I missing something? Thanks for your feedback - best regards
  6. SCCM 2007 SP2 R3, SQL Server 2008 x64, Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 I am having difficulty with a bare metal install and capture of Win7 on a laptop. I have followed all guides closely and verified correct version of MDT, AIK, WINPE, but I simply cannot inject drivers into my boot image. I keep getting the following message from the wizard. Error: Boot image to update: MDT Custom PE Error: Actions to perform: Add ConfigMgr binaries Enable Windows PE command line support Add drivers Error: Failed to import the following drivers: Intel® 82567LM-3 Gigabit Network Connection - Failed to inject a ConfigMgr driver into the mounted WIM file Error: The wizard detected the following problems when updating the boot image. Failed to inject a ConfigMgr driver into the mounted WIM file Failed to inject a ConfigMgr driver into the mounted WIM file Failed to inject a ConfigMgr driver into the mounted WIM file Failed to inject a ConfigMgr driver into the mounted WIM file The ConfigMgr Provider reported an error.: ConfigMgr Error Object: instance of SMS_ExtendedStatus { Description = "Failed to insert OSD binaries into the WIM file"; ErrorCode = 2152205056; File = "c:\\qfe\\nts_sms_fre\\sms\\siteserver\\sdk_provider\\smsprov\\sspbootimagepackage.cpp"; Line = 4262; ObjectInfo = "CSspBootImagePackage::PreRefreshPkgSrcHook"; Operation = "ExecMethod"; ParameterInfo = "SMS_BootImagePackage.PackageID=\"BWW00015\""; ProviderName = "WinMgmt"; StatusCode = 2147749889; }; I've noted several other posts where user advise using DSIM. Is this a requirement? I like the ability to utilize the driver repository / see the injected drivers in the SCCM console. Thanks!
  7. Has anybody been successuflly able to boot into ConfigMgr via pxe boot on a HP DL380p? Keeps failing at "Apply network connection" Once it reaches that point, it reboots. I've downloaded all the nic drivers from HP's website and injected them into my boot image, but have had no success. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. OSD works with all of our desktops/laptops so it leads me to believe this error has to do with nic drivers? Thank you
  8. Hi There, We recently upgraded from SP1CU3 -> R2CU1 and are now having issues building machines using our OSD task sequence. First we tried using our existing x64 boot.wim (version 6.2.9200) - however our task sequence fails at the diskpart stage. We then noticed that the driver tab is missing from the Boot Images properties page - probably because the WIM was created by an older version of ADK. So then we tried using the boot image automatically placed into SCCM by the ADK8.1 install (6.3.9600.16384) in our task sequence. However this results in a WIndows8 BSOD screen with the error message "BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO" after it finishes downloading the WIM file and shows the windows logo briefly (but before getting to the familiar WinPE page). Finally we tried using a freshly baked boot.wim created with the "copype.cmd amd64" command. Using this boot.wim in our task sequences allows the build process to progress a little further - we see it initialise WinPE and go through a couple of status messages before hard rebooting. The last status message it shows before it reboots the machine is "Preparing network connections...". NB: we were able to progress much further into our task sequence using the x86 ADT8.1 boot image... Any ideas on what we can try next?
  9. I've been having an issue where when I PXE boot to my SCCM server, it starts to load the Boot Image but then reboots immediately, leaving me in the same place I started. My assumption was that the Boot Image was corrupt, so I went to delete the image from the DP and Config Manager. Now when I go to add the boot images back into CM, I browse to the location where they're stored and I get a blank Boot Image drop down list. Has anyone seen this before? I've included a picture of what I'm talking about.
  10. I'm getting this error after I upgraded to sccm 2012 sp1. This happens whenever I try to update the distribution point drivers for the WinPE boot image. 12. I am strugging to get OSD to work from PXE after the processes suddently stopped working for all of your hardware models. What occurs is after PXE booting, the initial download of the .wim is completed and Windows PE briefly loads. Shortly after loading Network Connections, the system reboots. To identify/resolve the issue the following steps have been completed: F8 before the reboot occurs shows the computer is not getting an IP The x86 boot image in SCCM appears to have gotten corrupted as we were unable to add new drivers (although the existing drivers always worked before this issues started) Restored the default boot image from \\server\SMS_DE1\OSD\boot\i386\boot.wim Added "all" drivers categorized as NET & HDC (i know this is not necessary but wanted to ensure correct driver was included) Distributed to all DP's Uninstalled/Installed Windows AIK 2.0 Deleted all drivers from SCCM and reimported along with creating new Driver Packages Issue occuring for all computer models SCCM server reboot I have attached smsts.log files showing the error. When viewing properties of the x86 Boot Image, all of the required drivers are listed and the Content Status is showing a current timestamp signaling the DP's should have the correct file version. There may be some steps I did not include in this post so just let me know what else you need to help identify the issue. Thank you ALL for your help as I am quite frustrated with this issue and am open to suggestions. smsts.log
  13. Hi everyone, we are using SCCM 2007 R3. We use Task sequences to deploy the OS in combination with a bootable media (DVD). They told me I had to create a new bootable media everytime I make a change in the Task sequence. Is it really necessary?
  14. When I try to import any driver true the wizard. These errors are shown: Error: Some driver(s) can not be imported successfully. See following details. Error: Failed to import the following drivers: Intel® 82567LM-3 Gigabit Network Connection - An error occurred while importing the selected driver. Add drivers to the following boot images:Boot image (x64) Boot images will not be updated on distribution points. I use a remote SQL server and one primary site. Any ideas? (when I do the same in a test envoirement on a test sccm server with a local sql server, everything works fine with the same driver)
  15. Hi, I have a question about how SCCM control which boot image is using in PXE booting. I have 3 version of boot image A, image B and image C, created in SCCM and copy to the remote DP. The image C is crashed and then I delete the image C and make a new one image D, but I found the PXE boot will use image B not the new one image D. Really no idea about how SCCM manage the boot image? Please help me to get clear. Thank you very much :-)
  16. Hi, is it possible to use SCCM to give network admins a choice of images when using PXE boot? With WDS we were able to log in then choose the correct image for the PC. If this is possible with SCCM any hints would be very appreciated!
  17. I've seen a few blogs which have guides to add Remote Control support to Boot Images which I found would be quite useful. Especially if it's in the Boot Image rather than the Task Sequence so I would be able to RDP/VNC/DameWare etc to the client in WinPE. My main goal is for troubleshooting and for support during the build stage. I've seen the following posts but didn't have too much luck with getting it to work: http://www.deploymentresearch.com/Blog/tabid/62/EntryId/36/Software-Assurance-Pays-Off-Remote-Connection-to-WinPE-during-MDT-SCCM-deployments.aspx http://blog.danovich.com.au/2011/12/27/dameware-remote-control-in-winpe/ http://depsharee.blogspot.com.au/2010/06/integrate-vnc-to-windows-pe.html Anyweb - it would be awesome if you could add a Step-by-Step for this topic as I'm sure a lot of admins would benefit from it. Thanks!
  18. All of a sudden when booting PXE, it is now downloading the x64 boot image instead of the x86 as it was before. I'm trying to figure out why as some of our machines don't support x64 and fail to boot PXE. Has anyone heard of this or have any idea? Our imaging process is practically stopped because of this and since school is starting in two weeks.....definitely not a good thing, LOL Thanks, Todd
  19. Hi, I have a problem with Boot Image on SCCM 12, I asked in Technet but nobody solve my problem, I need help for resolve my problem. This is link with my question in Technet: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmanagerosd/thread/6ae3e76e-f33a-4b5a-b3a3-f6e8878e7b3d/#c8128405-cc4b-47cd-997a-78b10b6807b6 Regards: Thiago Batista http://about.me/thiagitto
  20. Hi there, I'm pretty new to SCCM so this might be an easy problem. A couple of days ago our Operating System Deployment stopped working. The first sign of that something was wrong was that the WDS service couldn't be restarted. It hung. Even after a reboot of the entire server the service was still not running. After a lot of troubleshooting we also noticed that the image-folders under RemoteInstall\SMSBoot\x64 and RemoteInstal\SMSBoot\x86 were empty. I then got some advice that I should delete the PXE role in SCCM and re-install the WDS service in Windows. So I did: 1) Removed PXE role. 2) Uninstalled WDS. 3) Reboot. 4) Finalize uninstall. 5) Reboot again. 6) Renamed the folder "RemoteInstall". 7) Installed WDS. 8) Rebooted. 9) Added the PXE Role. 10) Rebooted. This i have done twice, the main issue is still there, the folders are still empty. when I try to deploy a PC I just get the error: "PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent". The client recieves an IP from the DHCP but there is no boot-image. In the logfile: pxeMSI.log.LastError i found the following row: "MSI (s) (B0:00) [10:50:25:911]: Windows Installer removed the product. Product Name: SMS PXE Service Point. Product Version: 4.00.6487.2000. Product Language: 1033. Removal success or error status: 0." In the logfile: pxeMSI.log i found the following rows: Property(S): UserExitDialog_Title = Setup Aborted Property(S): UserExitDialog_SubTitle = Setup was cancelled Property(S): UserExitDialog_Info = The SMS PXE Service Point setup was cancelled. Property(S): InstallErrorDialog_Title = Setup Aborted Property(S): InstallErrorDialog_SubTitle = Setup failed Property(S): InstallErrorDialog_Info = Setup encountered an error and could not continue. I have also attached PXESetup.log. Any suggestions and/or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! PXESetup.log
