  1. Hi, I am trying to use "build and capture" to capture a Windows7 S1 image that I can deploy to clients. I have tried several times but I keep getting errors and when it finished the capture has not being done. I have given the Network access account local admin on the SCCM server and it is local admin all on all PCs. I have recreated the TS and done it again but I got this "The task sequence failed with error code 0x80070056. For more information please, contact your system administrator or helpdesk operator." I am attaching the smsts log. Any help what is going wrong? Thanks KKA smsts-20140312-171956.log
  2. I have downloaded the most recent software updates for Windows 10 20H2 x64, as can be seen in this image: I went ahead and redistributed the deployment package, to make sure the latest updates added were available. Then, I clicked over to my operating system image. right clicked, and chose Schedule Updates. Those two updates will not show as available as can be seen in this image (additionally, the Windows Malicious Software Remove Tool or update doesn't show as available either): So, to make sure that they aren't already applied, I clicked the update tab on my OS image. Any ideas? Once the image is applied, if I go to check Windows updates, the missing ones download and install. Thanks, Jesse
  3. Hi, We are currently looking at deploying windows 10 education 1610 across our corporate network (we are a college). The gold image has been created and successfully deployed to machines however we are finding that there are some drivers missing from the machines on completion. I know that drivers can be added into SCCM as packages to be used in the deployments but since we dont run on a standard model of machine this can become a bit of a laborious process. We noted that when you install a standard version of windows in a non corporate environment, windows will try to find drivers for unknown devices via windows update. Obviously updates within the network are controlled by SCCM but what we want to be in a situation where a machine is imaged and then windows update searches for any missing drivers. We have updated the configuration of the updates within SCCM to include updates for windows 10 and servicing to hopefully enable this (see the below images). I think really we need to know if what we want to do is actually possible within the scope of SCCM or if we are going to have to stick to the classic method of creating and importing numerous driver packages each time we add new hardware to our network. Any advice from the experts would be most useful! Thanks, Simon
  4. Hello, My organization is running on Windows 7. Windows 10 is not an option at this time. I can image computers with a traditional HDD. Anytime I try to apply our Windows 7 image to a M2 drive it absolutely fails, will not even attempt to image. Anytime I attempt to image a SSD the imaging process goes through until the computer reboots to finish the installation process. It goes into a reboot loop. The drives are fine because I am able to image Windows 10 to HDD, SSD, and M2. I found turning RAID off and turning AHCI on in the BIOS and allowing for legacy boot worked in the past to allow me to image SSDs. However, I have a Dell Precision M 4700 that I installed a SSD in and Windows 7 will not image even with the BIOS settings I've used in the past. I just installed Windows 7 to this SSD with a DVD and it worked fine. Any idea as to what I'm missing?
  5. Hi from Ä°stanbul this my first post I'm working on an operating system to use an organization that has 1000+ clients. Are there any settings you can recommend in Wsim? Settings that can help ease. Keyboard, language, domain etc.
  6. Hi everyone, I am trying to capture a windows 8.1 64 bit image with Office 2013, citrix and a few other apps installed. I've also tried on a windows 7 32 bit image with the same result. The result is I can create the iso file. When I mount the ISo file on the reference machine I can run the wizard and point to a location to create the wim file. When I click Finish nothing happens. I've tried multiple times and different machines with the same results. The machines are not on the domain. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  7. So I need to image 6000 or so Dell Venue 11s. We have SCCM 2012 in place and I can PXE boot them and image them with no problem. I would like to be able to image them offline from a USB 3.0 flash drive. I have created the offline media from sccm and placed it on my stick. When I boot the tablet it sees the USB drive as drive 0 & C and the tablet HD as drive 1 & D:. When I start the Task Sequence everything runs fine, but when it's done the OS is installed on D: and not C: Now all of that for this question how can I fix this??? Any help would great. Thanks Mike
  8. In my organization I have a problem with the deployment of operating systems (WIN7) SCCM Version: RTM When I go to deploy new workstations do not have any problems and / or error .... the problem I have when I go to deploy the operating system on a machine previously deployed to. For example, a workstation that had crash problems and then I have to deploy the operating system but I get the F12 and after some research I found that SCCM MacAddress recognizes that, and that is written to the database. I also found the query to delete this record, but I ask you, there is a different procedure ?? I can understand that the work is boring if Mitrovo to distribute 50 workstation from scratch ..... thanks
  9. Hi Guys, I'm trying to make an MDT Boot Image in SCCM but everytime I try to it just errors out part way through. I've tried reinstalling MDT/WADK and removing/installing the MDT ConfigMgr integration but it hasn't made any difference. Any ideas? Started processing. Creating boot image. Copying WIM file. Mounting WIM file. WIM file mounted. Setting Windows PE system root. Set Windows PE system root. Set Windows PE scratch space. Adding standard components. Adding component: winpe-dismcmdlets Error while importing Microsoft Deployment Toolkit Task Sequence. 10. I've got a Background Image that I've applied which looks good in Landscape mode, but when I change to Portrait mode the image doesn't compress it crops the image and looks awful. Is there a way to have the image display correctly no matter the orientation?
  11. I am getting error when deploying W7 from SCCM. The error from sms log said "Failed to run the last action: apply operating system. Execution of task sequence failed. Element not found. (Error: 80070490; Source: windows). So I went to check the operating system object's image properties and trying to change it from 1-1 to 2-2 under Select image you want to view dropdown box but I am unable to change it. I am able to update the OS image to 2-2 on task sequence. I deleted the OS from sccm and reloaded it but i still can't Apply the change to 2-2 in image properties. The actual windows is on 2-2. Any advice? Thanks
  12. I have one machine that is giving us fits. No matter what we do, the machine won't image. When booting to PXE and after entering the PXE password it says that no Task Sequences are available for this computer. All my image jobs are deployed to All Systems and All Unknown Computers and every other machine works fine. Anyone seen this or have any ideas?
  13. hi, i try to deploy a operatingsystemimage. A runs well, but my system drive is now D. The Tasksequence was setup with the default wizard. Regards J
  14. Hello Everyone, First i would like to say thank you for your great guide on SCCM 2012 RC2! It was very useful for my organization. Today we're installing new computer from a syspreped image that we have to each OS & Hardware (desktops & laptops), and deploying new machines took too many configurations after deploying the image, that's why i've looked for a better solution, and then i've heared about SCCM, and found your great website. I'm new to the SCCM system & concept. I've watched CBT nuggets's guides on SCCM 2007 but it's still not coverying 2012, but i've kind of understand the concept. I've installed the SCCM 2012 RC2 server on a VM running on VMware ESX server (win 2008 r2 sp1 ent), With a local SQL 2008 r2 sp1 cu4 (8GB ram & 2 vCpu's), i've got about 200 devices and about 150 users & groups. I've got a few questions: 1. What is the recommandation for hardware in my case? is 8GB ram is too much? 2. I've got 2 different domains in a diffrent forests, in this case i've installed SCCM only for Domain A, is there a way to manage Domain B from this server? or sould i install another server for Domain B? 3. I've got 2 WSUS servers for each domain, what exactly do i need to do and configure in order to integrate the WSUS & the SCCM server? is it recommanded? where can i find information about it? 4. When trying to run a Build and Deploy TS i'm getting the following error: "Capture image has failed with the error code 0x00000032" what can i do to fix it? i've tried removing the license key but it didn't help much, and i'm still getting the same error mesages, how can i know what exactly caused the problem? 5. When trying to run a deploy TS I'm getting the following error: "failed to run task sequence XXX this task sequence cannot be run because a package referenced by the task sequence could not be found" even that i've deployed the whole application & packages on the sccm DP server role, when running the deploy without the softwares it's running smoothly. 6. How to i install softwares that i don't have their MSI files? for example EXE files of VBS files that installing softwares with preconfigured license? Note: Installing SCCM server: I think it will be much much better if you could create a guide on installing SQL Server 2008 R2 with SP1 & CU4 Thank you very much i'll really appreciate your help!
  15. Hi, We are currently using SCCM 2007 R3 and the way that we use OSD is to create a virtual machine, build Windows 7 Enterprise on it, run all windows updates, install office 2010 and a few other utils that are standard to our builds and then capture it and run other programs (like Google Chrome etc..) from a task sequence. However, from time to time we need to update our base WIM file images, so what we do is to deploy the standard image (minus the task sequence programs) and then update the image, then re-capture it using the capture ISO. We then re-add the image on our server and go from there. This is not ideal as I believe that you can our capture a win 7 machine 3 times? so, after that, if we try and capture an image, it fails and we have to build an image from scratch again. I know there are other ways around this like snapshot our image once complete before capturing and then use that to update, or just having a windows 7 base image and deploy all software in the task sequence but I was wondering if there was any other advice anyone could give us about the best ways to update our windows images? Note that this is not just windows updates, but Autodesk DWG Trueview updates, java updates, flash updates etc... Thanks for your help in advance!
