  1. Good morning, Long time reader, first time poster. I have an issue with SCCM and clients already added to ADUC. If i build a computer with a name not already in ADUC the task sequence executes correctlt and the machine joins the domain for example KS-Win10-V5. If i use the exact same task sequence and attempt to build a machine already in ADUC (for example ks-wk-adm-01) it executes the task sequence but fails to join the domain... I have added the netbootguid to the machine in ADUC and updated the System discovery in SCCM and this has made no difference. Does anyone have any idea what i could try? I've got a site with 500 devices to rebuild next week. Thank you in advance. If you need any more info let me know. Mark
  2. Hi I've recently installed WDS on a new server and has been setup and works fine. We have been able to capture images and deploy images fine. I have made a Unattend.xml file that does all the windows setup bits and works fine. The only one problem i'm having is auto joining the domain. I've added the unattended join to the XML and still won't do it trying unsecure and secure option. I've noticed if not using the unattend and just prestage the device it will join the domain at the end of the deployment. Some extra information that may be needed is we have it set so that the computer goes into Pending and it is then "Name and Approve" this is so the computer is named for the deployment. Please let me know if anymore information is required
  3. After the language pack installs and reboot, one gets to select the UI language (or Language pack). I want it to be already selected, but I cant get it to work. The Variables set and used are due to AD_Site and country. The unattend looks like follows. Has anyoned any idea what is wrong? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <unattend xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend"> <settings pass="oobeSystem"> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-International-Core" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <TimeZone>%Variable_TimeZone%</TimeZone> <InputLocale>%variable_InputLocale%</InputLocale> <SystemLocale>%Variable_SystemLocale%</SystemLocale> <UILanguage>en-US</UILanguage> <UILanguageFallback>en-US</UILanguageFallback> <UserLocale>%variable_UserLocale%</UserLocale> </component> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <TimeZone>%Variable_TimeZone%</TimeZone> </component> </settings> </unattend>
  4. Hi everybody! In our company we have an OS image with 2 languages. During deploying OS it asks which language I would like o use. Every option I need is right except the Language for non-Unicode programs - it's always by default English. I need it to be always Russian for both languages. How can I made it? Help.
  5. Hi guys.. I use thick images at my workplace because we don't have the infrastructure to do wds, lite or zt installs.. we've been using ghost forever I am trying to have windows 8 ask me for a computer name and join a specified domain.. the way i did it before was using MySysprep2 with the variables <computer>% input pc name%</computer> on my unattended, but it looks like MSP2 does not work with windows 8 .. does anyone have an alternative that will allow me to input the pc name before joining an existing domain? needless to say i also have this on my xml file: <component name="Microsoft-Windows-UnattendedJoin" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <Identification> <Credentials> <Domain>student.local</Domain> <Password>something</Password> <Username>domainjoinaccount</Username> </Credentials> <JoinDomain>student.local</JoinDomain> <MachineObjectOU>OU=WorkStations,DC=STUDENT,DC=LOCAL</MachineObjectOU> <DebugJoin>true</DebugJoin> </Identification> thank you for your time.
  6. I have two TS, one for known computers with allready installed the agent (migrate compname is on) and another for unknown computers, on this one you need to fill in the computer name during WinPE. This method works fine for Win 7 and Vista. On XP there is a problem: We work with a full operating installer in combination with an unattend.txt For allready known and unknown computers the compputername is forgotten and a dynamic name is given. How do i fix this? Please advise.
  7. Hi everybody, Here is My scenario, I have WDS running on a Server 2008 R2 Machine, and have been succesfully imaging XP machines for a while now. I am trying to setup a Windows 7 amd64 image on it, and it doesn't appear to like my unattend.xml, ie, it doesn't get the language options that I have set in the unattend,.xml, it doesn't automatically load the right image off WDS, which is also specified in the unattend.xml etc. The thing that I think may be causing the problem is that the Boot image I am using in WDS is the x86 boot image that we have been using to image the XP machines. Do I need to create an amd64 boot image for it to recognise the amd64 commands in the unattend.xml? The Windows 7 image itself works fine, but for simplicity sake, because I'm going to have to do over 100 of these in the coming months, I would prefer to make it and unattended installation. This has been driving me nuts the last couple of days. Edit, here is my WDSclientunattend.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <unattend xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend"> <settings pass="windowsPE"> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Setup" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <DiskConfiguration> <Disk wcm:action="modify"> <ModifyPartitions> <ModifyPartition wcm:action="modify"> <Active>true</Active> <Extend>false</Extend> <Format>NTFS</Format> <Label>SysVol1</Label> <Order>1</Order> <PartitionID>1</PartitionID> </ModifyPartition> </ModifyPartitions> <DiskID>0</DiskID> <WillWipeDisk>true</WillWipeDisk> </Disk> <WillShowUI>onerror</WillShowUI> </DiskConfiguration> <WindowsDeploymentServices> <ImageSelection> <InstallImage> <Filename>XT3_WIM.wim</Filename> <ImageGroup>Consultant_Laptop</ImageGroup> <ImageName>XT3_WIM</ImageName> </InstallImage> <InstallTo> <DiskID>0</DiskID> <PartitionID>1</PartitionID> </InstallTo> </ImageSelection> <Login> <Credentials> <Domain>Domain.com</Domain> <Password>Password</Password> <Username>Username</Username> </Credentials> </Login> </WindowsDeploymentServices> </component> </settings> </unattend> -Mark
