Application Deployment Notification

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

We've set up an application which we will be rolling out through System Center 2012, we plan to make this application available to users so they can install it when they wish.

Question i have is when we set the deployment to be "Required" the user gets a notification in the Notification Centre informing them new software is available and it starts to install it which is great.

My question is, is it possible for when we make software Available for a user they get a similar notification in their windows Notification Centre which they can then click and install at their choice?

Thanks

Marc

Hi Marc,

Yep when setting the to 'Available' ensure you select the notification to the Config Manager Client and then the users will get a bubble stating new software is available and they'll get the option to install.

Hi,

Strange thats set to Display in Software Center and show all notifications already.

The strange thing is the notification does work when the deployment is set to Required, the notifications pop up saying its available and then saying its installing.

Thanks

Marc

After looking at this a bit more i think its more to do with the Software Center its self not refreshing to show Available software.

Software is being deployed to users fine as when they browse to the web link they see available software, but only when they select to install the software from the web link does it show on the Software Center program on their machines.

Anyone had this before?
