PXE boot issues

Hi All

 

Just getting my head around the SCCM 2012R2 server, the guide you provided is fab so thanks a mill for that! As far as i can see i have everything setup as per the guide. The problem i have is when i try and pxe boot a machine i get the error "sccm pxe configuration manager is looking for policy"

 

I have marked both the x86 x64 boot images to be pxe booted and added them both to the distribution point. (We only have one) I have also created a sources folder and added the extracted Windows 7 ISO files to it. I have created the task sequence and pointed it towards a test folder collection that has only 1 machine in it. I added the machine in question via the computer information import as although it was in the all systems list for some reason it was not pulling through into this folder collection via the system resource ou name rule that i setup.

 

I cannot locate the smspxe.log file anywhere to look into that for some information. We do have a WDS which i have powered off to avoid any conflicts. I can see its trying to boot to the IP of the SCCM server but just cannot get any further.

 

Would someone be able to lend me some advice?

Thanks for that much appreciated, i have browsed to this location which is on the local C drive, i can see the folder of log files but there is no log in there for smspxe.log

I'm taking a guess here (since i do not know what hardware you are trying to image) but check within the BIOS setup that UEFI boot is set to Legacy or Disabled and try the process again? Just a guess, mind you.

Doesnt seem to make a difference im afraid, i just want to be able to see this smspxe.log to maybe see whats going on but i cannot find it anywhere. I have looked in all the windows directories but had no luck

 

Anyone else ever had this?

You definitely should be looking at the SMSPXE.log. This log file should be located in the normal logs folder on the server-side.

I managed to find the logs buried away in the end so thanks again for your help. The problem i have now is i have set up the task sequence for a machine to pxe boot but upon trying i keep getting the error 'Configuration Manager is looking for policy'.

 

I have had a look at the smspxe.log and this is what i am getting. I just cant really see whats going wrong. I have distributed my system images and the installers as per the guide. WOuld someone be able to give me some advice?
