Multiple primary sites

Question:

 

I'm standing up a new 2012r2 site (DRC) to replace a poorly implemented 2012sp1 site (DRI).

 

I don't want any current clients, or newly imaged machines pointing DRC until we're production-ready.

 

if I publish the Management Points for DRC in DNS, will it cause any problems with the current production infrastructure? What about if I publish DRC to Active Directory?
