SCCM Reporting Service Point

Recommended Posts

Here is the scenario:

This ConfigMgr environment has a complex configuration with 2 different SQL servers in play.

  •           Server 1: ConfigMgr Primary Site server
  •           Server 2: server running SQL Server Database Engine role and configured as the ConfigMgr Site Database server
  •           Server 3: server running SQL Server Reporting Services role pointing to the SCCM DB created on Server 2

when attempting to install the Reporting Services point, the following error was encountered:

  •  Unable to locate any configured SRS instances on the server.  Verify SRS is installed, accessible, and correctly configured.
  • The “Reporting Services server instance” is blank.

First, Microsoft do support this configuration? And second, any idea what could be the configuration that has to be done?

Yes it is fully supported to do that, one of my lab is step that way.

Did you configures SSRS after installing it?

BTW, it is generally recommend that SQL be install with CM and it is also generally recommend that SSRS be installed with SQL.

I did configure SSRS after installing it on Server 3 and linked it to Server 2 (CM Database). When trying to go and start implementing Reporting Service Point Role on the SCCM, the Reporting service instance is blank and unable to detect Server 2/3

Would you please share the steps?

Thank you,

What exactly does "I did configure SSRS after installing it on Server 3 and linked it to Server 2 (CM Database)." this mean?

Did you make sure that you can connect the report URL from a remote computer?

Have you ensured that all firewall ports are open?

Did you grant your CM site both local admin access and SA access within SQL on your SSRS server?
