SCCM 2007 - Add Windows 7 Updates to WIM File

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I inherited an SCCM 2007 environment and our base Win 7 image is woefully behind on updates (179 updates install post TS OSD).  I am trying to rectify this so that they can be installed during the OSD, or, preferably, in the actual WIM file.

The issue that I am having is finding the best way to update the WIM file to include the updates.  As we only allow updates through WSUS, how can I update the WIM to include those updates?

Looking through the Build and Capture TS's, it looks like my predecessor attempted it, but I am unsure whether he ever got it to work.

Is there a way to do this through a B&C TS?  Is there a way to do this with DISM commands?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

i'd recommend offline servicing within SCCM to apply the updates, Build and Capture of Windows 7 is notoriously flakey at best with the huge number of updates available for Windows 7. If you must go with WSUS only, then use MDT to b&c the image as described here.
