anyweb Posted July 31, 2007 Report post Posted July 31, 2007 Microsoft has quietly begun testing a series of patches for Windows Vista that promise to dramatically increase the performance of the system in various ways. The patches, which could see a public release on Microsoft's regularly-scheduled August Patch Tuesday, address such things as copy or moving large amounts of data, video card compatibility and reliability, and improvements related to Sleep mode. "This update resolves a number of individual issues which may be affecting some computers running Windows Vista," the documentation for one patch reads." These issues have been reported by customers using the Error Reporting service, product support, or other means. Installing this update will improve the performance and responsiveness for some scenarios and improves reliability of Windows Vista in a variety of scenarios." While Vista performance is generally excellent, a number of users have reported issues with copying and moving large amounts of data with the system and report that it does so more slowly than did Windows XP. One of these patches appears to fix this and other related issues, while others seem to be dedicated to reliability and compatibility fixes.
