Task Sequence Failed

Question

Hi,

I Have a problem with my task sequence for laptop HP2510p OSD deployment WXP SP3

In the first case task sequence "A" leave the computer in Workgroup and after install the SCCM client the procedure continue and every thing is OK.

In the second case task sequence "B" join the computer into domain but after install the SCCM client, the procedure stop and the other part of TS are not processed.

Otherwise,if I run these TS on HP6730b everything is ok, in all cases.

I've captured the wim image on HP6730b.

With laptop HP6730 all TS work;instead, with laptop 2510p only TS "A" (workgroup) work.

I Have checked the SCCM client log file (in C:\WINDOWS\system32\CCM\Logs) ...there are not difference for joined and workgroup PC's.

I don't understand why the task sequence cannot load the TSRES.DLL....I think this is the problem..

Failed to load resource DLL 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\CCM\1033\TSRES.DLL'

Any idea??

tnx to everybody....

ciao

ok then can you tell us how you built the image and the task sequence because something is wrong with it

This is the task sequence screenshot.

I Have captured the wim image from HP6730b notebook (WXP SP3 Ita with all fix MS)

This image is deployed to HP6730b and HP2530p with success (workgroup or domain, anyway)

When I deploy (Boot CD, not PXE) this image to HP2510p, will work fine only in workgroup, not in join to domain...

tnx anyweb :-)post-5368-12695331816611_thumb.png

I found a workaround...I try to join in another OU and it's work fine.

could be a problem with our infrastructure...

Anyway, I do not understand why the other models worked.

I think I have your Answer, The join Domain step asks for an "OU" If you select the Default "Computers" OU in AD it will fail. Reason is that Computers OU in AD is not OU Organizational Unit it is really a Container as AD is concerned. this is why this task wouldnt join. If you were ont trying to join the Base computers container then the problem is probably a permissions problem of whos account you were usinng to join and to where. Try making a SCCM Service Account in AD with higher level privliges and make sure you set the password on the service account to never expire!

I tried adding to the Computers Container to and was dumbfounded when I realized that Wait, Microsoft is being real specific here! do what it asks and Seledt an "AD OU" not "AD Container"

indeed and it amazes me that there is no logic built it to disallow you from selecting the computers Container, it just lets you do it knowing full well that the ts will fail
