File permissions being stripped when accessing on prem file shares from Intune devices

We started our Intune pilot a few weeks ago and we are finding that whenever a pilot user accesses an on-prem file share via a mapped drive, all of the inherited permissions are being removed, and the files are no longer visible or accessible.
