2 AD's and 2 DNS's need a trust

Question

I have created 2 different AD Forest/Domains each has its own DNS server. I have these on 2 different Virtualbox VMs and would like to setup a trust between the 2 to test ADMT 3.2.

First Forest/Domain is contoso.com

Host Name: Server01

Primary Dns Suffix: contoso.com

IP:10.0.0.11

Subnet:255.255.255.0

Gateway:10.0.0.1

DNS Server: 127.0.0.1

Second Forest/Domain is bimfirm.com

Host Name: Server01

Primary Dns Suffix: bimfirm.com

IP:10.0.0.50

Subnet:255.255.255.0

Gateway:10.0.0.1

DNS Server: 127.0.0.1

I have turned off both firewalls on each of the VM's. Both are set to internal network in Virtualbox and I can ping back and forth between the VM's also. I am trying to figure out what I am missing to get this to work. Any help would be helpful.

Hi,

Each server name must be unique you cannot setup a trust between to DC's both called Server01.

After that you need to start with setting up name resolution between the to domain, the easiest way to do this is to use a conditional forwarder on both sides.

So on the DNS server for contoso.com you configure a Conditonal Forwarder to -> bimfirm.com and on the DNS for for the bimfirm.com you do it for contoso.com.

More information about conditional forwarders see : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc794735(WS.10).aspx
