Build and capture OS - SCCM 2012 RC2

Recommended Posts

Is anyone having issues building and capturing an OS with RC2? I was redoing lab 7 and RC2 will not create the .wim file for some reason. I recall doing lab 7 for RC1 and it worked fine.

I recall from RC1, that the TS step in lab 7 took a couple of minutes to comlete, but in RC2 it takes just seconds and when I check the path specified for saving the .wim file...the folder's empty.

Any suggestions?

I don't have one on the sever; I looked everywhere in the LOGS folder and and the drive, and it doesn't exist.

Here's the results of the new Task Sequence wizard:

Success: The task sequence has been created successfully.

• Boot Image: Boot image (x64) 6.1.7600.16385 en-US

Success: Install the Windows operating system

• Package: Windows 7 x64 Enterprise SP1 en-US

• Server licensing mode: Do not specify

• Use random password: No

Success: Configure the network

• Join workgroup: workgroup

Success: Install the Configuration Manager client

• Package: Microsoft Configuration Manager Client Upgrade 5.0 ALL

• Installation properties: SMSMP=SCCM2012RC2.GLLAB.COM

Success: Capture image settings

• Save to: \\sccm2012rc2\Sources\OS\Captures\win7entsp1x64.wim (This file never gets created and the entire process takes like 5 seconds to complete; I recall from RC1 this taking much longer)

• Account to access output folder: GLLAB\SMSadmin

Hi anyweb,

Thanks for the reply. Well, I can't even get to that point. I used my lab snapshot to prior enabling PXE on RC2...things seem to be working again. The issue came up as soon as I rebooted RC2.

So far, I've not rebooted the server (and I won't as I want to test the other PXE related features), but I'll post if I find anything during my lab work.

Thanks again.

I'm seeing the exact same issues. Including the lack of an SMSTS.log is it possible that my smstsvc.log is what we are looking for? It doesn't seem to matter which directory I point the file to. It takes about 3 seconds to complete. Comes back that everything was successful but never actually creates a WIM file.

I am getting an error when trying a Build and Capture of Windows 7.

I am booting from the PXE but then get Error 0x80004005 when "Running Action: Auto Apply Drivers"

I have looked through the logs and am not able to see the error.

I have attaced the log for review.

Any help would be appreciated, I haven't been able to figure this out and am getting frustrated.
