using SCCM 2012 RC in a LAB - Part 18. Deploying a UDI Client Task Sequence with MDT 2012 RC1 integrated in Configuration Manager 2012

Recommended Posts

I have been looking for a solution to generate computernames like this, companypc001, companypc002, companypc003 how can you do this?

Or even to give the computername to enter the computername in an unattend.xml before the deployment would be fine, but how do you add this unattend then to your task sequence?

I know about adding an unattend for changing keyboard settings has to be added to apply operating system image.

There must be a simple way to do this not?

I cant image that companies with 1500 pc's are going to every pc and manually enter the computername... :/

This is my first time using SCCM, sorry if my questions are too simple...

edit.: Is this the final guide? No ZTI guide? Or is that one coming in a different subforum on this site?

sccm2012, MDT2012, W7, ZTI?

Since you show the Install Programs during the windows-noob.com UDI Wizard, it would have been nice/consistent by adding a few screenshots and description of how you added those two Applications.

take a look at the previous part (Part 17) here, it covers adding those two applications

Hi thanks for the great walk through above.

I am using MTD12 and SCCM 07. I have sucessfully built the UDI Task Sequence as above and am deploying it using stand alone media when I get to the enter the Domain Join credentials it says unable to access the Domain.

All the domain details are correct in the designer.

It allows me to skip this and select Join Workgroup but then end eith Error in Task sequence error (0x0000001)

Has anyone else come accross this?

I have now got this all working. I recreated the BootImage and the take sequence again. It looks like I must have skipped over one of the steps the first time around.

I'm running into some issues and could use a little help if possible. Currently I have Systems Center 2012 and MDT 2012 Integrated. I'm having issues getting the language and regional settings to apply. I've followed this post exactly and a few others on troubleshooting, but can't seem to figure out why it doesn't work. When I change all the drop downs on the regional settings menu to a language that I have setup with a language pack in the Task sequence. The only thing that changes is the Time Zone. The Language pack I choose I can see it trying to run the install during imaging, but after image completion nothing is applied except the Time and the Language pack didn't get installed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Also how can I get that Deployment Complete pop up window to come up in my Task Sequence?

Thank you for the awesome tutorials, they've helped us a lot in moving forward with sccm 2012.

We want to run the same task sequence to capture data for USMT and then run the same task sequence for to restore the data on a new machine. It was my impression that the first part of UDI wizard was to determine which type of setup to run (replace, refresh, new computer). How do you set these guidelines?

Edit1: figured out that you have to set up a different TS :)

Doesn't seem to matter what image I choose in the UDI. it still picks the image specified when I created the UDI task sequence. I thought the UDI was supposed to take precedence over what image is chosen when you create the TS. It's quite annoying. Anybody know how to fix this?

I use a 64bit MDT boot image that boots to a UDI Task sequence. I'm curious, there is a volume selection within the task sequence and also within the config xml, where you can select volume. It always deploys the OS within the task sequence, no matter what I deploy through the UDI Task sequence. Should I get rid of the "apply OS" portion in the TS?

I'm having a frustration issue with this. I edit the UDIWizard_Config.xml file to my specs, save it, update the MDT Settings Package, but it always defaults back to the orginal Wizard. I verified my changes are being saved and also checked the Content Status under Monitoring and my DP is updating the package, but it is using the default Wizard. Has anyone run into this issue?

Ok I just realized the problem, I was updating the Settings package and not the Toolkit!.. Ugh!!!
