using System Center 2012 Configuration Manager - Part 8. Deploying Applications

Recommended Posts

In our old SCCM 2007 system, we had created a number of AD Secirity Groups for software installations, then a ton of SCCM collections that would query the devices for that security group. We'd then target advertisements to those collections for software deployment.

In 2012, I'd like to use the Requirements tab to query for that Security Group, but I'm having some trouble with it. I can query for the OU, but not the actual security group.

Hi again :) I have gotten as far as getting the application to show in Software Center, however when trying to install the STATUS is stuck on Downloading (0% complete).

the logs mentioned above don't provide an insight to a problem. Any ideas? We can deploy packages with no problems.

Hi all,

I'm new at this site and also new working with SCCM. As far as I looked for information for that Microsoft's product, this is the best site I found, a really good job you did with these manuals!!

At the moment, I'm at the same point as liquidtoon, everything seems to work fine but when the applications are about to download and install on clients, the status stuck on 0%.

However, when the limit time for installing the application is reached, the "install" button appears on the Software Center and just clicking on it the installation finishes with no errors.

Does anybody else had the same problem? I reviewed the log files but no information found to solve that problem. The ideal thing is to download and install the application automatically without to wait for the limit time and have to click on install button manually.

Thanks in advance.

I have successfully created and deplyed office 2010 application, but it fails when I try to uninstall it.

In CITaskMgr.log I see this:

So I guess my question is what is MTC Id ?

p.s. I deployed office following this guide - http://blogs.technet...012-beta-2.aspx

my uninstall command is: MsiExec.exe /X{90140000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}

edit: changing uninstall command to "SETUP.EXE /uninstall STANDARD" fixed the problem.

I have installed a unknown computer with a task sequence that included 1 application. Unfortunatly the application was not installed when imaging was done. After that I could start the same sequence again through software center, if i do that and that is finished the application is installed. Why isnt it installed the first time?

Quick question related to deploying software. BACKGROUND-So we have a new installation of SCCM 2012 SP1, which we upgraded to from SCCM 2007.

I have packaged and deployed software from 2007 with no problem. Currently I am running into an issue when trying to deploy an Application package from SCCM 2012.

I have been able to create Application Package; Deployment Type and Deployments. The software Copies to the DP and makes its wasy to the ccmcache directory where it sits and never installs.

The application is an EXE that I created using AutoITScript. It is a very simple script which copies 2 files from network to a directory on server and then launches .CMD to run xml which changes a password for me. I have verified that the script works as expected when I manually copy it to a server and run it.

However, I cannot seem to get SCCM to launch it.

CURRENT ERROR:

Deployment Status: Deployment failed Status Type: Error Error Code: 0x87D00324 (-2016410844) Error Description: The application was not detected after installation completed

I know this looks like it installed, but it has not. I am getting this same error if I try to push down and install a batch file as well.

Any help or guidance is appreciated. If I can provide an additional info that might help, please let me know.

Outstanding site! This site has been a life saver. We have a CAS and two Primary Sites at the moment. I'm wondering if our administrators at each site should be creating packages on the CAS or on their respective primary sites? I guess I'm a little confused as to where the day to day operations should be administered from Primary or CAS? Does it matter if some applications are created on the CAS and some are created on the Primary servers?

Keep up the good work! :)

I'm a little puzzeld...

I'm using av CAS and 2 primary server. I will end up With 8 primary servers.(it's politics).

I have a share With Applications on the CAS server. The CAS server will put information in to the contentLB.
Do I need 2 times the Storage? Files and ContentLB ?

Hope you understand what I meen.

Best regards,

Øyvind Skjellin
