SCCM 2012 and task sequence problem

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am trying to deploy windows 7 x64. Everythin seems to work fine. If I type my PXE Password in the Windows: "Welcome to Task Sequence Wizared". After type my PXE Password I get error message (0X80004005) an the machine reboot again.

I checked the smsts.log file and found out follow red highlighted error :

- unknown host (gethostbyname failed) TSPxe 22.10.2012 09:09:40 856 (0x0358)

- sending with winhttp failed; 80072ee7 TSPxe 22.10.2012 09:09:40 856 (0x0358)

- Failed to get information for MP: http://sccm2012.test.com. 80072ee7. TSPxe 22.10.2012 09:09:40 856 (0x0358)

I have to mention I had problem with drivers. But I added new drivers to my boot image. Is it still drivers problem?

I suggest it is DNS issue

Thanks

is usually always DNS or network related, verify you have a valid ip address (enable command support in your boot images, press F8 when you boot)

verify that you can ping the FQDN of your management point from the client in the command prompt, if not you may need to add network drivers for your hardware to the boot image.

Hi Anyweb,

After press F8, I have a valid ip address from DHCP and I can ping my sccm2012. But if ping the FQDN of my sccm2012 I dont get any answer.

I cannot understand why I need to add network drivers to my boot image, if I have a valid ip address and I can ping my sccm2012 server.

Is it DNS problem? I have a Linux DNS server and that is not in the domain and I cannot add in the domain. But my sccm2012 server is in the domain with an Windows DNS Server. Any Idea?
