Would it then be a good thing to check : ignore maintenance windows and install immediately at deadline?

I know that restart is supressed, so the client will only restart under maintenance hours right ? but what happens if the end user, is using the actual program which is being updated ? Will the program force Close ?

Then it will install no matter what the maintenance windows is..

As long as you do not ignore maintenance windows for restarts, then you'll be fine. When a user is using the program, then it depends on the msi and/ or your own scripting to capture that behavior and act on it.

When the update is scheduled to run, monitor the 'ServiceWindowManager.log' file using trace32. Also a great 3rd party tool is 'SCCM Client Centre'. If you install this on your device and then connect the device in question, you can view the maintenance window from Advertisements> Schedules
