Internet-based Management Point

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have recently been looking at using the internet-based management functionality. My company has remote offices that are not connected via VPN and was hoping that this feature would help in the task of keeping inventory and such. I have a few questions about this:

1. My current setup is just a stand-alone primary site, can that also be used as the internet management point?

2. Would this work for deploying software and updates?

3. Do I just need to switch the client connection option to HTTPS?

3. I haven't run into any good guides on this, so if anyone has a link, please share!

Thanks!

1. You have one Managepoint with your PrimarySite (the built-in). It is possible to expose this Managepoint to Internet, but it's not recommended. The most common solution is to set up a Managepoint in a DMZ.

2. Yes

3. Yes

I know CBT Nuggets and Greg Shields have a really good chapter when he explains how you can set up IBCM in SCCM and also the PKI part step-by-step.
