SCCM 2012 Client after installation cannot be assigned to site

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of doing a side by side migration from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012. I have a test system that was previously a SCCM 2007 client and has been upgraded to a SCCM 2012 client using the install client. CCMsetup runs and says completed successfully but it is unable to be assigned to the site either automatically or manually. The site is a standalone primary site. Below shows the error in the LocationServices log file on the client:

MYSERVER - is the management point

CRS - is the site name

SD,

Although the errors aren't exactly the same, I had issues with adding a '12 client where a '07 was previously installed. I too wasn't able to assign a site code. Check the client's registry to make sure it's not getting an old site code. HKEY LOCAL MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/SMS/Mobile Client, Key Name: Assigned Site Code. If it's pointing to the old site, delete it and try reassigned the client through the client's CCM GUI.
