xayide Posted October 2, 2013 Report post Posted October 2, 2013 Can I upgrade my SCCM 2012 server operating system from 2012 to 2012 R2 on a running/installed/in use SCCM 2012 Sp1 installation?
Peter van der Woude Posted October 2, 2013 Report post Posted October 2, 2013 AFAIK not in a supported way. The only supported way is to make a backup, do a clean install and restore the backup.
Mikey C Posted October 18, 2013 Report post Posted October 18, 2013 Have I understood this question and answer correctly?? If you have a Windows Server 2012 SP1, running SCCM 2012 SP1, it is not supported to install the Server 2012 R2 upgrade? Peter van der Woude Posted October 18, 2013 Report post Posted October 18, 2013 That's exactly what I thought the question was.... It's never been supported to upgrade the operating system of a server running ConfigMgr and I can remember hearing anything of that being changed... bcunjak Posted October 19, 2013 Report post Posted October 19, 2013 Nope your right nothing has changed still not supported. Back up / Restore is still the way to do it.
mrbios Posted October 21, 2013 Report post Posted October 21, 2013 Would i be right in thinking that the backup/restore method requires you to install SCCM on the 2012R2 server as the same level of SCCM as you had backed up, before then upgrading SCCM to R2 as well after the restore? EDIT: Come to think of it, are there any guides around to doing this? I've never had to do a restore to an SCCM server before.
