ADR not using WSUS upstream server

Question

Hi there,

I installed SCCM 2012 SP1 using docs from here , WSUS SP2 and SUP were installed using http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/5683-using-system-center-2012-configuration-manager-part-5-adding-wsus-adding-the-sup-role-deploying-the-configuration-manager-client-agent

I get pain to understand 2 things in how SUP - WSUS works toghether

  1. Why the windows update are not downloaded in the folder specified in WSUS wizard (I understand they should be approved before being downloaded)
    1. I got 2 Gigs in this WSUS folder
    2. The rest of the Windows updates are in the ADR "download location"
  2. Moreover, the PatchDownloader.log show me that download are done through http://download.windowsupdate.com/... however I specified a "upstream data source location" in the SUP properties

Thanks in advance for your help, and thanks for your job here,

Mike

On the server-side the SUP uses WSUS only for it's metadata. At the moment that it will really download the update it will use the content location (which is specified in the metadata) to download the update itself. So ConfigMGr/SUP downloads the real content and not WSUS.

Is there a way to let ADR download it from the Upstream Server and from Microsoft Update?
