Trouble with SCCM Client Push

Recommended Posts

I am having issues with pushing the SCCM client. I am able to push the client just fine as it installs OK but it will not assign the site code. When I try to manually enter the site code I get the "Failed to Update Site Assignment" error. However, when I log off of my domain admin account and log on as the local administrator I can manually enter the site code and it accepts it. My domain account is added as a local administrator..

The old Network Admin who setup most of SCCM in not with us anymore so I am in charge of figuring out where he left off at and getting everything working. From what I can put together we have extended AD and I have ran a query to ensure we do not have any over lapping boundaries. The attached screenshot shows the contents of the "System Management" folder.

I have copy and pasted a couple logs below that may help troubleshoot. I have googled for days now how to fix the issues I see in the logs but haven't found anything. Please Help!!

Is it possible you have a Group Policy push that has a conflicting switches?

I had something similar happen and there were 3 client deployment methods (Client Push, Group Policy, OSD) and the site code from the GPO was from our old environment.

I do not have any group policies set that point sccm to to any site code. As far as I know we installed SCCM 2012 fresh and did not upgrade from 2007.

Sorry for the delay. I work in school district and we have been closed all week due to snow. The old network admin setup the boundaries and boundary groups so I'm not entirely sure he set them up right. For exampble he set the boundaries up as an IP subnet and then added another boundary as and IP range for the same subnet. He did this for each of our subnets. He then create a boundary group for each subnet and another bounary group that is the only one which is "assigned" and added each subnet and IP range to that group. Not sure if this makes much sense but it seems like something is wrong with the boundaries..

The only switch we are using for the client push is "SMSSITECODE=PRI".

I added my domain account to the local admin accout to that computer but it will not let me manually set the site code. It will only let me set the site code manually logged on as the local admin.

What is your site code? is your site code PRI?

This is my command line for an DMZ system

CCMSETUP.EXE FSP=SERVERNAME-SCCM1 SMSMP=mydomain.com SMSSLP=SERVERNAME-SCCM1 SMSCACHESIZE=5000 CCMLOGMAXHISTORY=2 SMSSITECODE=AR1 DNSSUFFIX=mydomain.com

Also make sure your site code is in DNS, for example my site code is AR1, this value should exist in your DNS.

You could also set the boundaries to automatically look for them based on what is setup in your DHCP/DNS configuration and then apply them to the correct boundary groups.

Anything not set in a boundary will automatically be considered to be on a slow network.

Also any firewalls? Hardware and software based?

Also, try connecting to this URL: http://mysccmservernamehere/sms_mp/.sms_aut?mplist do you see any content or any version info?
