Hyper-V how to boot into Windows PE?

Question

Hi,

I am trying to create a wim file using sysprep and imagex.

However when it comes time to boot into windows pe on my virtual machine, i cannot do this.

I have tried buring the pe file to an ISO and booting the vm from this, but no joy.

What is the best way to do this?

Thanks

Have you built out the Task Sequence yet?

Did you create a capture boot media?

What error are you receiving?

I suggest following this guide. You can most likely skip the PXE part.

Om going to make a guess on this:

If you want to boot to winpe via a vm on hyper-v you must add a legacy network adaptor to it throufh the settings on the vm, you must then make it the first boot device under the bios option in te settings of the vm

Thankyou for your responses.

I eventually went with vmware just for testing purposes. The reason I could not boot to pe was the startup screen was so fast I was unable to press ESC to bring up the boot menu. I edited the vmx file to make the bios boot delay longer.
