  1. Hi. I need to keep track of quite a few PC's at remote sites. I am currently trying to depoly an urgent patch to a group of PC's which have maintanance windows in place during office hours. My users are useless at leaving them on overnight and so far I've only mananged to hit about half of them with the patch. I've around 160 of these PC's spread over 16 sites and now I have a real mix of patched and unpatched. The report I'm using (Software Distribution 396) to keep track of its progress could help me more if it had a field on it for the PC's subnet (which will tell me the physical site). Can anyone help me add in this field to the existing report, I also want to be able to order the report around this field. I've been using ccm 2007 for a while now and I'm getting better with it but reports are still a bit of a grey area. Any help would be appreciated.
  2. I've checked the MP_Hinv.log and can see that a report was received from my test PC but when I looked in the dataldr.log file on the config manager server I found this: Processing Inventory for Machine: Win7testPC Version 1.3 Generated: 01/12/2013 9:24:29 SMS_INVENTORY_DATA_LOADER 07/03/2013 09:33:29 3992 (0x0F98) Pragma delete found in inventory group MICROSOFT|SYSTEM_DEVICES|1.0. Unfortunatly the guides I've been checking don't say much about fixing the problem. Other than the inventory reporting the PC is fine with the CCM client and is receiving software updates as well as our own software installs.
  3. Hi I am trying to get a Hardware inventory from an estate of around 200 XP and Win7 PC's. I've followed various troubleshooting guides but have not yet been able to work out exactly where it is falling over. I am using a Win7 client for testing this. I've initalised an inventory of the the client and can see from the inventoryAgent.log that the data was collected. I think the problem is that the data is not being transferred as there is nothing in the ccmexec.log. If my understanding of the process is correct so far what should my next step be?
  4. I've just spent ages working through various methods for deploying Open Office 3.3 silently using SCCM 2007. I finally have a working solution so I thought I should share it. You need the Open Office 3.3 installer from OO's website and the DisableFirstStartWizard.oxt file, also available on their site. This particular install routine disables the first run wizard (leaves the user name fields blank), disables any on-line checking for updates and leaves the default file save as type as open document format. Extract the set-up file into an install folder and copy the oxt file into the same place. The batch file is; start /wait msiexec /qb /norestart /i openofficeorg33.msi SELECT_WORD=0 SELECT_EXCEL=0 SELECT_POWERPOINT=0 ADDLOCAL=ALL REMOVE=gm_Oooimprovement,gm_o_Quickstart,gm_o_Testtool,gm_o_Xsltfiltersamples,gm_o_Javafilter,gm_o_jf_Palm,gm_o_jf_Palm_Aportisdoc,gm_o_jf_Pocketpc,gm_o_jf_Pocketpc_Pocket_Word,gm_o_jf_Pocketpc_Pocket_Excel,gm_o_Activexcontrol,gm_o_Binfilter,gm_o_Onlineupdate,gm_r_Extension_Dictionary_Fr,gm_r_Extension_Dictionary_Es copy "DisableFirstStartWzd_ooo33.oxt" "%ProgramFiles%\OpenOffice.org 3\program\" /Y cd "%ProgramFiles%\OpenOffice.org 3\program" unopkg add --shared DisableFirstStartWzd_ooo33.oxt Note I've added a blank line in between the lines of code as the first line is a long one.
  5. Hi. We have a new SCCM 2007 setup running on R2 2008 servers which is now more or less complete. We are patching and deploying apps successfully. I now need to start to use the reporting and querying functions but have a problem which is probobly caused by a mistake during the setting up of the servers. When I right click on a PC in a collection and select Add / Remove programs from the SCCM System Reports right click menu it brings up a web page saying more or less that the page cannot be found - http://server1:80/SMSReporting_DPA/Report.asp?ReportID=97&computername=workstation1 but if I change it to http://Server2:80/SMSReporting_DPA/Report.asp?ReportID=97&computername=workstation1 it displays the page fine. Where can I make this change so this report function automatically looks to the correct server (server 2 in this example instead of Server1).
  6. Hi. I am a complete beginer with SCCM 2007. We have deployed it onto one of our Domains and the client is installed on a few PC's now. I've deploed some software updates and also have a package working for Picasa. I now need to pull certain info from the clients for our asset management dept ; PC name, Service Tag number,IP Address, Model, Bios, Memory and Monitor type. I am a bit confused on Reports versus Queries. I've been trying to do this with a query, should I be using a Report instead? I put together a brief query of PC Name and IP and it ran fine. I added last user to login and when I ran the query it the CCM console crashed. I then removed the last username criteria but it still crashes with a message to say "System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.AdminConsole.ConsoleView.ConsoleFormViewControl.listView1_CacheVirtualItems(Object sender, CacheVirtualItemsEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ListView.WmReflectNotify(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ListView.WndProc(Message& m) at Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.AdminConsole.Common.SmsListView.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)" Oddly this query ran ok once or twice but mainly crashes. My SQL statement is; select distinct SMS_R_System.NetbiosName, SMS_R_System.IPAddresses from SMS_R_System where LOWER(SMS_R_System.NetbiosName) like "%DGC%" order by SMS_R_System.NetbiosName I also have another query to show me a list of XP PC's with the client installed. My query statment for this is; select SMS_R_System.Name, SMS_R_System.SMSAssignedSites, SMS_R_System.IPAddresses, SMS_R_System.IPSubnets, SMS_R_System.OperatingSystemNameandVersion, SMS_R_System.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup, SMS_R_System.LastLogonUserDomain, SMS_R_System.LastLogonUserName, SMS_R_System.SMSUniqueIdentifier, SMS_R_System.ResourceId, SMS_R_System.ResourceType, SMS_R_System.NetbiosName from SMS_R_System where SMS_R_System.OperatingSystemNameandVersion = "Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 5.1" and SMS_R_System.Client is not null When I run this one it appears to show a list for a split second but then the details vanish and the list is blank. Can anyone tell me how to start to work out why these simple queries are not working. I've posted the Event generated in the App log. Config Manager Crash Event.txt
