  2. Hi All, I have single tier hierarchy, wherein I have Single SMS 2003 SP1 site server with all machines having SMS 2003 SP1 client. And now I wanted to upgraded my existing SMS 2003 SP1 to SCCM 2007. I wanted to follow Side-by-Side approach, in which I wanted to bring in a new hardware on which I wanted to install my complete SMS 2003 SP1 infrastructure. In order to do that I have following action Plan. 1. Install windows server 2003 enterprise edition SP1 on new server 2. Install SQL 2005 along with SP2 3. Install SMS on the New server 4. Attach the New server in the existing SMS hierarchy as a child primary server 5. Wait for 24 hours and check that the replication has been completed successfully 6. Detach the new server from the existing hierarchy 7. Install SCCM on the new server 8. Delete the entry of the existing SMS server from AD and publish new server information in AD. 9. Add site boundaries in new server 10. Install SCCM Client on SMS client machines using client push and Software distribution. But as SMS 2003 SP1 machines are not supported in SCCM, so will I be able to upgrade those machines in this fashion. Is this action plan sounds good or any modification is required
  3. Hi All, I upgraded my SMS 2003 SP1 site server to SMS 2003 SP2. And also upgraded SMS client machines to SMS SP2, but around 100 machines are not upgraded to SMS SP2. And Now I m in process of upgrading SMS Site server to SCCM 2007. And I have following question 1. Once my SMS Site server gets upgraded to SCCM 2007, what will happen to those 100 machines which are not yet upgraded to SMS SP2?
  4. Hi All, I have to upgrade SMS to SCCM at one of my customer location. At present customer is running on only one central server and managing around 2500 machines with the same central server and no child primary server. And now because of the budget constraint customer doesn’t wanted to invest in purchasing additional server for SCCM server, so in SCCM can we manage 2500 machines only with one single central server or is there any hard and fast rule of not assigning any machines to central server.
  5. Hi All, I have an SMS SP1 Single Tier hierarchy which I have to upgrade to SCCM 2007. For this the action plan which I m thinking of is 1. Upgrade existing SMS Sp1 Server to SP2 2. Upgrade SMS Sp1 Client to SMS SP2 3. And then Upgrade to SCCM using In-Place upgrade. If I m missing on something then kindly let me know and also tell me what are the pros and Cons in above mentioned approach Thanks in Advance Chan
  6. Hi First of all thanks a lot for your detailed reply. Before i actually decide on my plan i have one more question for you. In the scenario which i mentioned, if i upgrade my SMS to SCCM simply by uninstalling the FP and retaining the existing SMS OSD packages. How much effort onsite admin has to put in, in order to start with OSD in SCCM 2007 bcoz in SCCM we have Task sequence as a new feature Thanks in Advance Chan
  7. HI All, I have a single tier SMS Hierarchy with one central server and clients assigned to it. Primarily I m using it for OSD.
