Server 2003 clients report message ID 11423 "Software Updates Scan Failed"

Hello,

 

On our all 2003 machines the SCCM client reports : message ID 11423 "Software Updates Scan Failed"

 

On client site in the ScanAgent.log "CScanJob : :OnScanComplete - Scan Failed with Error=0x8024402c"

 

any suggestions? (All our 2008 machines are working fine without this error and receive windows updates)

solved myself

I tried two things

 

1) One each client machine, stopped Automatic Update and BITTS services, then removed registry entries from this location:

 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate

removed SUS Client ID

 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\AutoUpdate

Deleted Detection time, scheduledInstalldate and any other time values in the hive

 

then restarted the Automatic update service and BITTS services.

Automatic update service is not there on client machine (Windows 7).
