We recently updated to 2012 SP1 and have since had an issue with our image deployments. During this time, we also captured a new image that we have been attempting to deploy to PCs. The image was built using the guide on this site and was built through a VM to get the "gold" image. The problem we are running into, is that every PC that gets the image has the same SMS Unique Identifier. Stopping the service and deleting the SMSCFG.ini file to force a new GUID to the client does not work. It will have a new GUID for a brief moment and then change back to the old ID. Uninstalling the client and deleting the SMSCFG.ini file and then reinstalling the client does not fix the issue either as it still retains the old GUID. Someone please tell me I am making a stupid rookie mistake. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
