Hello,
I have a question regarding the compability of Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 on Windows Server 2012 R2.
So i recently upgraded all my servers and VM's to Server 2012 R2, and i created a new VM with 2012 R2 for the OS, and went ahead and installed Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 using the guides i found on this site. I configured SQL server on a separate VM, and specified the SQL server VM to also be the SMS provider during the installtion setup of Config Manager.
I got everything to install fine, however, after installing, when i goto open up the Configuration Manager Console for the first time, i get the following error:
Configuration Manager cannot connect to site
The Configuration Manager console cannot connect to the Configuration Manager site database. Verify the following: • This computer has network connectivity to the SMS Provider computer. • Your user account has Remote Activation permission on the Configuration Manager site server and the SMS Provider computer. • The Configuration Manager console version is supported by the site server. • You are assigned to at least one role-based administration security role. • You have the following WMI permissions to the Root\SMS and Root\SMS\site_<site code> namespaces: Execute Methods, Provider Write, Enable Account, and Remote Enable.
I verified all the permissions and made sure i followed the guide properly, and am pretty sure i set everything up properly.
So my main question is:
Can you use Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 on the newly released Windows Server 2012 R2, or is it incompatible with the new R2 version?
Please let me know, i'm leaning towards it not being compabile with Server 2012 R2 which is why i'm getting this error, but wanted to ask first for claraification to make sure.
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Best Regards,
Mark
