So fun fact. Just because your DHCP application Engineer tells you that your DHCP server is in the same subnet with your WDS server, it doesn't mean it is actually in the same subnet.

I am in need of some dire help. I have run down the troubleshooting rabbit holes and I think I have reached a dead end.

 

Currently I have a WDS server that resides on a Hyper V Guest. It is not responding to PXE requests. If I put a guest PXE client on the same Hyper V host, It will respond fine. Is there some setting on the Hyper V host that could be blocking the broadcast UDP requests? Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

 

 

[Create Collection using the Win32_PnPSignedDriver class]

So I can't seem to leverage any of the values from this class. Perhaps I am doing something wrong. I went into "client settings", created a new custom client setting. I added the Win32_pnpsigneddriver class, selecting "name and Driver version" as the classes to be collected. One interesting note is within SCCM 2012 this class has a space in its name i.e. "Pn P Signed Driver", not sure if thats worth noting or not. Once I set the classes I deployed the settings to a collection containing my test machines. I then pointed a seperate collection to my test machine collection with a query based membership rule using the Driver Version that should be pulled by the Win32_pnpsigneddriver. My collection never populates. Are there any suggestions? thanks for your help.

I just added the class to my default client settings. Then I deployed the settings to a test collection. I will post the results here for resolution. Thanks for the suggestions.

This is strange. I have been searching the web for a couple of days now in between trouble tickets. There is almost no mention of a way to do this. The class is in WMI. You can pull all of the relevant info "driver name, driver version, etc" through powershell. But you can't seem to use it within SCCM .

 

Is there a way I can add this class safely to client settings to make it usable? Do i need to write a custom .mof addition and import it?

A quick question for all of the GURUS on this forum. I am trying to create a collection that is based on having a specific driver version installed on a server. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what the query language should look like?

[collection Maintenance Windows]

I was hoping someone could clarify how collections are affected by maintenance windows. I have a collection that is membership is pulled from another limiting collection. The limiting collection (all windows workstations) has a maintenance window of 2am- 5am. Does this maintenance window also affect the other collection? If I create a different maintenance window on the "nested" collection which would win out.

Thank you for the suggestion. If I understand correctly I will be able to sync the catalog automatically, but I will have to utilize the manual import tool from WSUS to get the update bits and make them available for SCCM.

Thank you for the help and suggestions. I ended up using the shutdown command. I was hoping that there might be a built in feature for collection scheduling.

Does anyone know of a way to create a scheduled task to automatically reboot an entire collection on a schedule?

[Configuring SCCM 2012 SUP to an upstream server]

I have a situation with my client that I need some help resolving. Their SCCM 2012 server is in a secured network that does not have access to the internet. They desire to have their SUP sync with an upstream WSUS server. I have configured the server this way and it has performed a full sync successfully. The problem I am having is now that the meta data is in place and I try to setup Software Update groups for download, I don't have the location for the actual update bits. The only options I see are download from the internet, or a share on the local network.

 

Is there anyway to configure the SUP to download all of the patches automatically from the upstream WSUS? Another catch is the upstream WSUS is on another domain as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
