I think im struggling to get into my head the understanding of capture image steps in wds
Firstly we create a Boot image (basically type of boot loader screen you want)
Secondly we right click it to change to capture image (this is where it stores the Os ????)
Thirdly we make a boot image again pointing to the Capture image we did in step 2 (to deploy the OS)
I think me coming from a symantec ghost background is confusing my understanding of WDS.
Im fairly new to WDS but have got an Install Image function to work
Additonally I created 2 Boot Images one for the Install Image function and a 2nd one for a Capture Image of a Laptop
Now if I want to capture an Image of a server should I be creating another Boot Image and set that to capture Image
Or do i still use the first capture boot image.
I will be deploying both Laptop and server sysprepped images using WDS
2 questions
Can you automate wds to create one large partition and format it as one drive without user interaction
Also how do you get rid of the Keyboard locale prompt as im in Uk and alway have to select United Kingdom rather than the default
Guys
ive got my Clients and server PXEbooting (OSchooser v5.2)
Its a new WDS Server (win 2003 SP2)
Ive also got 10 servers that need same STD 2003 image (all HP dl360/ g5 servers)
Ive setup one server with all teh requried software / settings and is still curerntly on the domin
Am i right in saying I need to capture this image to WDS (how do I go about doing this) if I have no Vista / Windows 7 DVD so cant access the WIM image/ Boot Image.
and How do i setup WDS to capture / deply this image for now (will it automcatically be on domain)
Cheers
Dont know how you got a folder with SMS in the name
But ive set the DHCP NT server 067 Bootfilename and the WDS Server boot options to
OSChooser\I386\StartRom.com
Cheers
Do you know what Bootfile name i should use on the DHCP server or in WDS in the X86 setting
Basically im going to deploy and capture Windows 2k3 and XP images.
We wont be going onto Vista or & anytime soon
Is it possibe to use WDS which is part of a 2003 AD but the NT4 DHCP is in a NT4 domain.
Ive setup a new 2003 SP2 server so have no images
thinking nothing had to be configured DHCP side i booted my client using PXE but it doesnt pick up a DHCP address just times out.
Im am in a corporate environment and confirmed DHCP is still working after installing WDS
